Item type:Item, A 2.5Gbps serial-link data transceiver in a 0.35 mu m digital CMOS technology(2004) ;Chen, WZ ;Weng, MC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThis paper presents the design of a single chip serial link data transceiver. Incorporating with 8 to 1 multiplexer and 1 to 8 demultiplexer, the transceiving data rate ranges from 640 Mbps to 2.56 Gbps. In the transmitter side, a novel precharged type multiplexer is proposed to minimize deterministic jitter. In the receiver side, an over-sampling data recovery loop utilizing mixed-signal phase picking scheme is adopted for data resynchronization and demultiplexing. A novel phase interpolator with resistive averaging technique is proposed to generate uniformly distributed sampling phases over wide frequency range, so as to improve bit error rate performance. For data packet size less than 1000 bytes, the tolerated frequency offset between transmitter and receiver is about 1.3% by a built in elastic buffer. The measured data jitter at the transmitter side after multiplexing is 5.8 ps (rms), and is 43.3 ps (rms) at the receiver side after demultiplexing. The measured bit error rate for 2.5 Gbps data receiving is about 10(-10). Fabricated in a 0.35mum digital CMOS process, this chip occupies 2.9 mm x 2.4 mm. The total power consumption is 280 mW under 2V supply.Item type:Item, A compact low-power rail-to-rail class-B buffer for LCD column driver(2002-08-01) ;Weng, MC ;Wu, JC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThis paper proposes a compact, low-power, and rail-to-rail class-B output buffer for driving the large column line capacitance of LCDs. The comparator used as a nonlinear element in feedback path is modified from the current-mirror amplifier, which has area and power advantages. The output buffer was realized in a 0.35 mum CMOS process. The active area of the buffer is 86 X 73.5 mum(2). With a 3.3 V supply, the measured quiescent current is 7.4 muA. The settling time for 0.05-3.25 V swing to within 0.2% is 8 mus.Item type:Item, A real-time local signal control methodology for alleviating incident-induced traffic congestion on arterials(2002) ;Sheu, IJB ;Chou, YH ;Weng, MC ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementThis paper presents a real-time local signal control method which serves to alleviate incident-induced traffic congestion on the roadway between two adjacent intersections. The proposed approach includes two major parts: (1) a discrete-time non-linear stochastic model which denotes the time-varying relationships of lane traffic state variables and control variables under conditions of lane-blocking incidents, and (2) a realtime control algorithm for dynamically predicting control variables. To generate efficiently traffic data used in model tests, we employed the Paramics microscopic traffic simulator, which is developed to model and analyze ITS traffic flow conditions. The preliminary test results indicate the superiority of the proposed real-time signal control method in comparison with fixed-time signal control modes which are presently used at the study site. It Is expected that this study can stimulate research on Incident management, and extend to network-wide incident-responsive traffic control for the development of advanced traffic management systems (ATMS).(1).Item type:Item, Low cost CMOS on-chip and remote temperature sensors(2001-04-01) ;Weng, MC ;Wu, JC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThis paper describes the design and results of low cost integrated CMOS local and remote temperature sensors with digital outputs. No trimming is needed to obtain good temperature linearity, so that only one-temperature calibration is needed which greatly reduces testing cost. The base-emitter voltage of the parasitic substrate bipolar transistor is used to measure the local temperature. A diode-connected external bipolar transistor is used to measure the remote temperature. Chopper techniques were used to cancel the offset voltage of the op-amp, so that a precise bandgap voltage call be obtained without resistance trimming. A first order Sigma Delta ADC was used to produce the digital output. The local and remote temperature sensors were realized in a 0.6 mu cm single-poly triple-metal CMOS technology with active area of 0.61 nm(2) and 0.65 mm(2), respectively. After calibration, the error is +/-1 degreesC for the local temperature sensor over the temperature range of -20 to 130 degreesC, and +/-2 degreesC for tile remote temperature sensor over the range of 0 to 120 degreesC. The supply currents of tile local and remote temperature sensors are 3.5 muA and 38 muA at 8 samples/s, respectively.Item type:Item, Stochastic system modeling and optimal control of incident-induced traffic congestion(2003-09-01) ;Sheu, JB ;Chou, YH ;Weng, MC ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementIncident-induced traffic congestion is a critical issue in formulating urban traffic congestion problems, and also a major cause that contributes to the invalidity of traffic signal control. This paper presents a prototype of real-time local signal control method, and explores its applicability in alleviating incident-induced traffic congestion on the roadway between two adjacent intersections for incident management. The architecture includes two major parts: (1) formulating time-varying lane traffic state variables and control variables under conditions of lane-blocking incidents with a discrete-time non-linear stochastic model, and (2) developing a real-time control algorithm for predicting dynamically control variables. To generate efficiently traffic data used in model tests, we employed the Paramics microscopic traffic simulator, which is developed to model and analyze ITS traffic flow conditions. According to the measures of two proposed space-based incident-impact indexes, the preliminary test results indicate the superiority of the proposed real-time signal control method in comparison with fixed-time signal control modes which are currently used at the study site. We do expect that this study can stimulate research on incident management, and extend to network-wide incident-responsive traffic control for the development of advanced traffic management systems (ATMS).
