Item type:Item, 400Mbit/s OOK green-LED visible light communication with low illumination(2018-12-01) ;Yeh, C. H. ;Chow, C. W. ;Gu, C. S. ;Guo, B. S.Chang, Y. J.In this work, we propose and demonstrate a LED-based visible light communication (VLC) system. Here, an analog front end (AFE) circuit with optimal equalization design is investigated to enhance the modulation bandwidth of LED. The VLC data rates of 340Mbit/s can be achieved under 1.5-3m free space transmissions with error-free (bit error ratio, BER<1x10(-9)). When the traffic rate is increased to 400Mbit/s, the BER satisfying the forward error correction (FEC) limit (BER=3.8x10(-3)) can be achieved at the low illumination of 34.1 Lux.Item type:Item, Compact optical curvature sensor with a flexible microdisk laser on a polymer substrate(2009-09-15) ;Shih, M. H. ;Hsu, K. S. ;Kunag, Wan ;Yang, Y. C.Wang, Y. C.We demonstrate a chip-scale compact optical curvature sensor. It consists of a low threshold InGaAsP microdisk laser on a flexible polydimethylsiloxane polymer substrate. The curvature dependence of lasing wavelength was characterized by bending the cavity at different bending radii. The measurements showed that the lasing wavelength decreases monotonously with an increasing bending curvature. A good agreement between experiment and three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulation was also obtained. The sensitivity of the compact device to the bending curvature is -23.7 nm/mm from the experiment. K.Compact microdisk cavities were fabricated on a polydimethylsiloxane substrate. The lasing of the flexible compact cavity was achieved with a low threshold power. The whispering-gallery mode of the microdisk was also characterized with three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulation. The curvature dependence in output power and threshold was also demonstrated by bending the microdisk cavity. C.We demonstrated a flexible photonic crystal defect laser on a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) polymer substrate. The curvature dependences of lasing power and threshold were also characterized by bending the photonic crystal cavity at different bending curvatures. T. ;Liu, P. T. ;Chang, Y. P. ;Wu, M. C.光電工程學系This work presents a novel method to form polycrystalline CuIn1-xGaxSe2 (CIGS) thin film by co-sputtering of In-Se and Cu-Ga alloy targets without an additional selenization process. An attempt was also made to thoroughly elucidate the surface morphology, crystalline phases, physical properties, and chemical properties of the CIGS films by using material analysis methods. Experimental results indicate that CIGS thin films featured densely packed grains and chalcopyrite phase peaks of (112), (220), (204), (312), and (116). Raman spectroscopy analysis revealed chalcopyrite CIGS phase with Raman shift at 175cm(-1), while no signal at 258cm(-1) indicated the exclusion of Cu2-xSe phase. Devices built with these films exhibit efficiencies as high as 8.6%.Item type:Item, Room temperature continuous wave operation and characterization of photonic crystal nanolaser on a sapphire substrate(2009-05-21) ;Shih, M. H. ;Yang, Yi-Chun ;Liu, Yu-Chen ;Chang, Zi-ChangHsu, Kung-ShuA compact photonic crystal defect nanocavity was fabricated on a sapphire substrate. Continuous wave lasing at room temperature was achieved with a low threshold power. We characterized the operated mode, quality factor and radiative efficiency for the compact laser. The thermal properties of the nanolaser were also investigated.
