Item type:Item, 1.7 to 2.3 Gbps OOK LED VLC Transmission Based on 4 x 4 Color-Polarization-Multiplexing at Extremely Low Illumination(2019-08-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Weng, Jui-Hung ;Chow, Chi-Wai ;Luo, Chien-MingXie, Yue-RuTo achieve the high traffic rate of a GaN LED-based visible light communication (VLC), a 4 x 4 color-polarization-multiplexing system is demonstrated by using two blue and two green LEDs. In the measurement, an available bandwidth of blue and green LEDs can be greater than 465 MHz for VLC modulation traffic by using the suitable analogy front end circuit. Hence, the proposed VLC system can deliver 1.7 to 2.3 Gbit/s ON-OFF keying traffic rates in the free space transmission length of 1-4 m under the extremely low illumination of 6.9-136.1 lux for the indoor application. Moreover, the measured BER of each LED is less than the forward error correction target of 3.8 x 10(-3) to maintain the better signal performance.Item type:Item, 62nm CW wavelength-selectable erbium-doped fiber compound-ring laser with stable single-mode output(2019-12-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Chang, Yao-Jen ;Lin, Wen-Piao ;Xie, Yue-RuLuo, Chien-MingIn this demonstration, an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) based laser with stable, wide and wavelength-selectable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) performances is designed and demonstrated. Here, to achieve SLM oscillation, a compound-ring scheme is constructed in the EDF laser cavity serving as a mode-restriction-filter for densely side-mode suppression. Moreover, the continuous-wave tunability can be scaled from 1520.0 to 1582.0 nm by using the proposed compound-ring scheme and commercial C-band EDF amplifier. In the measurement, the output stability and 3 dB Lorentzian linewidth of each lasing wavelength in the proposed EDF compound-ring laser have also been discussed.Item type:Item, A Selectable Single-Mode Erbium Laser With Power-Flattened Output Employing Dual-Sagnac-Ring(2019-01-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Lin, Wen-Piao ;Chang, Yao-Jen ;Xie, Yue-RuLuo, Chien-MingTo achieve wavelength-selectable and stable erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser, a dual-Sagnac-ring configuration is designed to reach single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) oscillation and power-flattened output simultaneously. Here, the power variation of lasing wavelength can be below than 1.0 dB over a wide working range of 1525.0-1565.0 nm for power-flattened output. Moreover, the 3-dB spectrum linewidth of presented EDF-based laser is measured in the range of 16.4-22.2 kHz via the Lorentzian fitting.Item type:Item, Demonstration of 1-Gbps real-time optical wireless communication by simple transmission scheme(2020-06-02) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Luo, Chien-Ming ;Xie, Yue-Ru ;Chow, Chi-WaiChen, Ruei-BinIn the work, we propose and investigate a real-time optical wireless communication (OWC) system with 1 Gbps on-off keying (OOK) traffic rate for indoor and outdoor transmissions. Here, while we add the new designed optical devices in the central office (CO) and each optical wireless unit (OWU) respectively, the TDM-FSO fiber system can achieve the self-protected operation against fault. In addition, according to the proposed ring-based fiber network, the maximum numbers of eight OWUs can be provided for the symmetric 10 Gbps on-off keying (OOK) FSO downstream and upstream connections. As a result, the proposed FSO access network can allow 25 km fiber transmission and proper FSO transmission length depending on the atmospheric attenuation of different weather condition.Item type:Item, Single-mode erbium laser with CW tunability by exploiting saturable absorber and self-injected loop(2020-03-15) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Luo, Chien-Ming ;Xie, Yue-Ru ;Chow, Chi-Wai光電工程學系We present and demonstrate a stabilized and selectable erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser according to the proposed EDF saturable absorber (SA) and self-injected method to achieve single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) output and narrow the laser linewidth simultaneously. Here, the whole tunability range of 1521.0 to 1601.0 nm (C plus L bands) can be accomplished by the designed EDF laser scheme. The output power and optical signal-to-noise ratio of the EDF laser are detected between -10.9 and 2.3 dBm and 33.1 and 45.1 dB/0.06 nm, respectively. In addition, the achievable SLM operation range runs from 1521.0 to 1581.0 nm due to the absorption limit of the EDF SA.
