Item type:Item, A New SDN-Based Architecture and Authentication Method for Taiwan High-Speed Rail(2017-01-01) ;Lin, Yi-Hao ;Ho, Ping-Fan ;Chen, Jyh-Cheng ;Yang, Jen-ShunChang, Hsien-WenThe urgency of improving user experience has reached a critical point in the high-speed rail environment. However, there is little literature considering authentication failure problems in the high-speed rail environment. In this paper, we present a new authentication architecture for Taiwan High-Speed Rail (THSR). This new authentication architecture applies Software-Defined Network (SDN)-based principles to an outbound LTE gateway platform. We propose a post-authentication method suitable for the high-speed mobile environment, such as THSR. The proposed architecture and method can improve user experience regarding successful authentication ratio, authentication latency, and network access latency compared to the existing system.Item type:Item, NCTUns Emulation Testbed for Evaluating Real-life Applications over WiMAX Networks(2010) ;Wang, Shie-Yuan ;Lin, C. C. ;Koo, P. H. ;Huang, Y. M.Yang, Jen-ShunIn this paper, we design and implement a hybrid WiMAX network testbed that integrates the NCTUns network emulator with a real-life WiMAX network. This hybrid WiMAX network testbed can seamlessly connect virtual networks (emulated by NCTUns) to a real-life WiMAX network. Thus, in this testbed real-life applications on real machines can exchange data with those on emulated (virtualized) network nodes. With this unique feature, our developed testbed provides a powerful, high-fidelity, and convenient testing environment for evaluating the performances and behaviors of real applications and devices in WiMAX networks. In this paper, the architecture and methodology of the developed testbed are explained, which are general and can collaborate with any other IP-based networks. In addition, an example study on this testbed is also presented to demonstrate its usage and capabilities.Item type:Item, Signal Measurement and Prediction of WiMAX Basestations on Taiwan High Speed Rail(2016) ;Wu, Dan-Chen ;Ho, Ping-Fan ;Chen, Jyh-Cheng ;Yang, Jen-ShunChang, Hsien-WenWhen communicating at high-speed environment such as high-speed rail, the signals may encounter fast fading due to the terrain changes. In such communication environment, signal prediction can help improve the system throughput and reduce packet loss. In this paper, we propose a prediction mechanism called Window Weight Moving Average (WWMA) to predict the signal strength. We also analyze the real WiMAX signal data collected from Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR). The analytical results will facilitate the migration from WiMAX to LTE.Item type:Item, Trusted Worthy Fog Computing Testbed Developed in Great China Region(2017-01-01) ;Huang, ChingYao ;Zao, John ;Huang, Chih-Yuan ;Kha Tho NguyenYang, YangFog computing has been widely adopted to meet the performance of explosive growth of IoT applications. In both 5G and IoT applications, low latency and ultra-reliable communication are two key features which cloud-based only architecture cannot meet those performance requirements. Fog computing which adds a hierarchy of elements between the cloud and endpoint devices can meet those requirements in a secure, high performance, open, and interoperable way. To validate whether future fog node products can meet trusted computing criteria and performance requirements or not, a common testbed is necessary. In this paper, we will first discussion the security practice (the fundamental pillar of OpenFog architecture) required for future testbed designs. National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) is leading to attempt to provide Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS) in NCTU testbed based on 4G wireless networks and two other fog enabled testbeds provided by ITRI's smart lamp posts testbed and Shanghai Tech's software defined (SD) LTE fog nodes testbed are also discussed for rapid prototyping of vertical industry applications. Two use cases, indoor autonomous vehicle and BATS codes multihop wireless will also be presented as the potential examples for testbeds.
