Item type:Item, A real-time image compensation for high dynamic range LCDs(2008) ;Liao, Lin-Yao ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Yeh, Szu-Che ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsBlur-mask approach (BMA) was developed to simulate the light distribution of locally-controlled dimming LED backlight with much lower computational complexity which is less than 1% of that of conventional convolution method, Blur-mask approach was successfully demonstrated on a 37 '' HDR LCD-TV with real-time modification to perform high quality image (Less image distortion) and high contrast ratio (similar to 20,000:1 with test image-Lily).Item type:Item, A real-time liquid crystal signal compensation method for high dynamic range LCD(2007) ;Liao, Lin-Yao ;Lin, Fang-Cheng ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Shieh, Han-Ping D.Yeh, Szu-CheBlur-mask approach was developed to simulate the backlight distribution of locally-controlled dimming LED backlight with lower computational complexity which is less than 1% of conventional convolution method. The If blur-mask approach was demonstrated to perform high image, quality and high contrast ratio (similar to 20,000 : 1) on a 37" LCD-TV. Compared with convolution, blur-mask approach has much lower computational complexity and succesfully demonstrated for real-time application.Item type:Item, Color Optimization Model for High Dynamic Range LCDs with RGB Color Backlights(2009) ;Chen, Yi-Ling ;Cheng, Yu-Kuo ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Shieh, Han-Ping D.Yeh, Szu-CheThe high dynamic range liquid crystal display (TIDR-LCD) with the color controlled backlight can achieve low power consumption, high color saturation and high contrast ratio. A modified color model for the RGB LEDs backlight system was proposed to optimize the color appearance in this paper. By applying the model, the color accuracy of the HDR-image could be much improved with the clear image details.Item type:Item, Delta-color adjustment (DCA) method for color controlled backlight of high dynamic range LCD-TVs(2008) ;Wang, Guo-Zhen ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Lin, Fang-Cheng ;Shieh, Han-Ping D.Yeh, Szu-CheA high-dynamic-range liquid crystal display (HDR-LCD) can much enhance the contrast ratio of image and reduce power consumption upon the locally controlled dynamic back-light. Delta-color adjustment(DCA) method with simple adjustment progress, was proposed and demonstrated on a 37 '' HDR-LCD to further reduce the power consumption, increase the contrast, widen the NTSC ratio and can still maintain image details.Item type:Item, Dynamic backlight gamma on high dynamic range LCD TVs(2008-06-01) ;Lin, Fang-Cheng ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Liao, Lin-Yao ;Liao, Cheng-YuShieh, Han-Ping D.A high dynamic range liquid crystal display (HDR-LCD) can enhance the contrast ratio of images by utilizing locally controlled dynamic backlight. We studied the HDR-LCD as a dual-panel display: a backlight module and a liquid crystal (LC) cell. As the gamma of the LC signal, the backlight module was also endowed with a gamma function to control the contrast ratio of HDR images. The inverse of a mapping function (IMF) method proposed as a dynamic gamma mapping curve for the backlight module, has been demonstrated to further improve in HDR image quality. By implementing the IMF method on a 37 '' HDR-LCD TV with 8 x 8 backlight zones, the image contrast ratio can reach similar to 20000:1 while maintaining high brightness, clear image detail, and an average power reduction of 30%.Item type:Item, Fast MPRT with High Brightness LCD by 120Hz Local Blinking HDR Systems(2009) ;Liao, Lin-Yao ;Chen, Chih-Wei ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Yeh, Szu-Che光電工程學系A 120Hz Local Blinking HDR system was proposed to significantly reduce MPRT down to 3.89ms and keep high brightness almost as well as conventional LCDs, that is distinct from the prior arts, such as Black Band Insertion, Blinking Backlight and Gray Frame Insertion (GFI), those may cause brightness decrement. Furthermore, the intrinsic benefit of high dynamic range (high contrast) and low power consumption also can be achieved.Item type:Item, Segment Color Control (SCC) Method for Color Controlled Backlight of High Dynamic Range LCD-TVs(2009) ;Wang, Guo-Zhen ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Shieh, Han-Ping D. ;Yeh, Szu-Che電子工程學系及電子研究所A high-dynamic-range liquid crystal display (HDR-LCD) can much enhance the contrast ratio of image and reduce power consumption by using locally controlled dynamic backlight. A novel method, segment color control (SCC) method, was proposed with low, complexity, and had been demonstrated on a 37" HDR-LCD. By using the segment color control method, the contrast ratio of image on a 37" HDR-LCD TV was successfully improved to similar to 40,000:1 with clear image detail, and about 10%similar to 50% power saving. Furthermore, the SCC method further widened the color gamut from 108%NTSC to 125%NTSC.
