Item type:Item, Building an effective safety management system for airlines(2008-01-01) ;Liou, James J. H. ;Yen, Leon ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyTo understand the role that human factors play in major aviation accidents, it is important to look at the organization that people work in and the management that they work under. A method for building an effective safety management system for airlines is developed that incorporates organization and management factors. It combines both fuzzy logic and Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL). This method can map out the structural relations among diverse factors in a complex system and identify the key factors. Data from the Taiwanese civil aviation industry is used for demonstration purposes. In this paper, we hope to discover possible trends and needs of business aviation for supporting the government to make decision in anticipation of eventual deregulation in the near future. We adopt knowledge-discovery tools based on rough set to analyze the potential for business aviation through an empirical study. Although our empirical study uses data from Taiwan, we are optimistic that our proposed method can be similarly applied in other countries to help governments there make decisions about a deregulated market.Item type:Item, Combined rough sets with flow graph and formal concept analysis for business aviation decision-making(2011-06-01) ;Yang, Yu-Ping Ou ;Shieh, How-Ming ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung ;Yen, LeonChan, Chien-ChungAlthough business aviation has been popular in the USA, Europe, and South America, however, top economies in East Asia, including Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, have been more conservative and lag behind in the development of business aviation. H. ;Yen, Leon ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyThis paper uses the Dominance-based Rough Set Approach (DRSA) to formulate airline service strategies by generating decision rules that model passenger preference for airline service quality. DRSA could help airlines eliminate some services associated with dispensable attributes without affecting passenger perception of service quality. DRSA could also help airlines achieve mass customization of airline services and generate additional revenues by active or passive targeting of quality services to passengers.
