Item type:Item, Analyses of the operation of in-plane switching display mode of liquid crystal display(1997) ;Yoo, JC ;Lin, KW ;Shieh, HPD ;交大名義發表光電工程學系The IFS mode of LCD has wide viewing angle compared with TN mode, but requires a higher driving voltage to reach a maximum transmittance. The electro-optical properties of TPS mode are complicated and can not be fully revealed by an analytic form. In this letter, the electro-optical properties of in-plane switching mode mere analyzed by LC continuum theory to achieve a maximum transmittance at a low operating voltage.Item type:Item, Analysis of the operation of mixed-mode twisted nematic cells(1997-01-01) ;Lin, KW ;Yoo, JC ;Shieh, HPD ;光電工程研究所Institute of EO EnginerringAnalysis of mixed-mode twisted nematic (MTN) cells in one- and two-dimension simulation are presented. Two-dimensional simulation reveals that the light leakage in the region of the reverse tilt domain in MTN cells reduces the contrast ratio with a novel method by adding a bias voltage onto Silicon substrates, the light leakage can be suppressed and the open ratio of the cell is greatly improved.Item type:Item, Analysis of the operation of mixed-mode twisted nematic cells(1997-01-01) ;Lin, KW ;Yoo, JC ;Shieh, HPD ;交大名義發表光電工程學系Analysis of mixed-mode twisted nematic (MTN) cells in one- and two-dimension simulation are presented. The multilayer film stack is composed of alternating thin layers of silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide, which is magnetron sputtered on the glass substrates. The experiment agrees with the characteristic matrix calculation. Since each layer is not ''thin'' enough compared with visible spectra, the multilayer thin stack induces interference phenomena, and consequently reduces the transmittance. In order to eliminate the interference, we optimized the multilayer thin film to achieve high transmittance in the region of visible spectra.Item type:Item, Fabrication and analyses of negative-birefringent thin film compensator with characteristic matrix(1996-09-01) ;Yoo, JC ;Shieh, HPD ;交大名義發表 ;光電工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityWe fabricated a multilayer negative-birefringent film as a phase compensator to minimize light leakage from twisted nematic liquid crystal displays in oblique incidence.
