Item type:Item, An adaptive low-overhead resource discovery protocol for mobile ad-hoc networks(2011-02-01) ;Liang, Jui-Chi ;Chen, Jyh-Cheng ;Zhang, Tao ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIn this paper we propose a Distributed Hash Table (DHT)-based peer-to-peer resource discovery protocol designed for large-scale Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET). The proposed Mobile Resource Discovery Protocol (MRDP) uses a distributed dynamic clustering algorithm to adaptively and rapidly group nodes in a MANET for resource discovery purpose, and utilizes DHTs to efficiently cache resource information in a peer-to-peer manner. We provide a probabilistic lower bound on the performance of the MRDP. We also present simulation results under different scenarios to show that MRDP has low message overheads and its performance is highly insensitive to the size of the MANET. These characteristics make MRDP suitable for large-scale MANETs.Item type:Item, Fog as a Service Technology(2018-11-01) ;Chen, Nanxi ;Yang, Yang ;Zhang, Tao ;Zhou, Ming-TuoLuo, XiliangFog computing has emerged as a promising solution for the loT and next generation mobile networks. As an extension to cloud computing, it enables service provisioning along the continuum from the cloud to things to reduce latency and bandwidth demands, and empower end users in their vicinity. Such a cloud-to-thing service continuum requires full technology support in infrastructure, platform, software and service levels. This article proposes FA(2)ST and its architecture to underpin a multi-level system of fog computing services for end-to-end support of loT applications. It presents the concept of FA(2)ST and describes its architecture, main features, a use case in a vertical industry, and a performance study.Item type:Item, Guest Editor's Introduction: Special Section on Fog/Edge Computing and Services(2019-09-01) ;Shi, Weisong ;Zhang, Tao ;Li, Qun ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, Using Barometer on Smartphones to Improve GPS Navigation Altitude Accuracy(2018-01-01) ;Ho, Ping-Fan ;Hsu, Chia-Che ;Chen, Jyh-Cheng ;Zhang, Tao資訊工程學系Today's GPS navigators have difficulty determining altitude such as whether a car is under or on an overpass. In this paper, we show how to use the barometers, which come with off-the-shelf smartphones, to improve vertical positioning accuracy. We will present performance testing results from different real road scenarios to show the feasibility of the proposed method.
