    A control system, contacting a transport lag is usually difficult for analysis, due to the existence of a transcedental function in the system characteristic equation. Yaohan Chu had presented a phase- angle- loci method, but it becomes increasingly difficult for higher order systems.(1)Eisenberg had given a fairly nice method, but it has been applied only to systems containing one transport lag.(2) In this paper , the root locos method is applied to the analysis of linear control systems with transport lags. The basic approach is to use the special property of zero-order holding circuit to represent a linear control system with transport lag by an equivalent sampled-data control system, then the system stability is analyzed in Z-domain using root-locus method.

    A method for testing control system stability is presented, which is useful ror finding the limit cycles of high order systems with multiple nonlinearities. The presented method is applied to the analysis of the control system of a material testing reactor, and a comparison with the method in a current literature is given.

    (交大學刊編輯委員會, 1966-04)
    韓光渭
    ;
    K. W. Han
    In this paper, control systems for aircraft and missiles are analyzed and designed using a "stability curve" method which is particularily suitable for testing stability and adjusting parameters for complex control systems. Design procedures are given along with examples.

    Stability Analysis of High Order Systems With Multiple Nonlinearities
    (交大學刊編輯委員會, 1967-04)
    韓光渭
    ;
    K.W.Han
    A method of testing stability in high order systems with multiple nonlinearities is presented. The presented method can be used to find the limit cycles and the relative stability characteristics of a system. A control system for satellite attitude stabilization is considered, and a system with three nonlinearities is analyzed.

    K.W.Han
    A method of testing stability of sampled-data systems with a relay-type nonlinearity is presented. In the z-domain, a linear sampled-data system which is equivalent to a nonlinear system under steady state condition can be found, and the existence as well as the stability characteristics of the limit cycle can be defined.

    K.W.Han
    Methods for computing the roots of polynomial equations with complex coefficients by use of the stability equations are presented in this paper. Based upon the presented methods, computation routines arewritten, which can be used to solve polynomial equations with-complex coefficients by dealing with real numbers only. In comparison with current methods the advantages of the presented methods are given, and applications to the analysis and design of control systems are considered.

    Y.T.Tsay
    ;
    K.W.Han
    This paper(PART 1)presents the general principle of the stability equation method. A detail proof of a criterion for predicting the locations of roots of polynomials with real or complex coefficients is given and comparisons with other methods are considered. Following this paper, additional papers will be presented concerning the applications of the stability-equation method to various engineering problems.
