The proposed ADSSCG can provide flexible spreading ratios by the proposed rescheduling division triangular modulation (RDTM). Thus it can provide different EMI attenuation performance for various system applications. Furthermore, the proposed ADSSCG employs a low-power digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) to save overall power consumption significantly. Measurement results show that power consumption of the proposed ADSSCG is 1.2 mW (@54 MHz), and it provides 9.5 dB EMI reductions with 1% spreading ratio. Besides, the proposed ADSSCG has very small chip area as compared with conventional SSCGs which often required large on-chip loop filter capacitors. In addition, the proposed ADSSCG is implemented only with standard cells, making it easily portable to different processes and very suitable for SoC applications.Item type:Item, A Low-Power DCO Using Interlaced Hysteresis Delay Cells(2012-10-01) ;Yu, Chien-Ying ;Chung, Ching-Che ;Yu, Chia-Jung ;Lee, Chen-Yi電機工程學系This brief presents a low-power small-area digitally controlled oscillator (DCO). The coarse-fine architecture with binary-weighted delay stages is applied for the delay range and resolution optimization. The coarse-tuning stage of the DCO uses the interlaced hysteresis delay cell, which is power and area efficient, as compared with conventional delay cells. The glitch protection synchronous circuit makes the DCO easily controllable without generating glitches. A demonstrative all-digital phase-locked loop using the DCO is fabricated in a 90-nm CMOS process with an active area of 0.0086 mm(2). The measured output frequency range is 180-530 MHz at the supply of 1 V. The power consumption are 466 and 357 mu W at 480- and 200-MHz output, respectively.Item type:Item, A symbol-rate timing synchronization method for low power wireless OFDM systems(2008-09-01) ;Yu, Jui-Yuan ;Chung, Ching-Che ;Lee, Chen-Yi ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThis work addresses power reduction and performance improvement for wireless orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems using a dynamic sample-timing controller (DSTC) and phase-tunable clock generator (PTCG). The receiver, applying the proposed DSTC algorithm, searches for the optimal sampling phase at the symbol rate, instead of the Nyquist rate (or higher), to reduce the extra power consumed in high-rate operations. The proposed PTCG circuits provide the desired clock phase for optimum sampling to improve system performance. Both the DSTC and the PTCG are evaluated in a multibandt OFDM (MB-OFDM) ultra-wide-band system. Simulation results indicate that the overall system performance is improved by 1.7-dB signal-to-noise ratio at a packet error rate of 8% and the total baseband power is reduced by 40%.Item type:Item, An All Digital Spread Spectrum Clock Generator with Programmable Spread Ratio for SoC Applications(2008) ;Sheng, Duo ;Chung, Ching-Che ;Lee, Chen-Yi ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsIn this paper, a programmable all-digital spread spectrum clock generator (ADSSCG) suitable for System-On-Chip (SoC) applications with ultra-low-power capability is presented.
