Item type:Item, Alkaline and ultrasonic pretreatment of sludge before anaerobic digestion(1997) ;Chiu, YC ;Chang, CN ;Lin, JG ;Huang, SJ環境工程研究所Pretreatment of waste activated sludge (WAS) results in an improved efficiency of the subsequent anaerobic biotransformation of the organic matter to volatile fatty acids. The pretreatment process has been carried out using alkaline treatment, ultrasonic treatment (20 KHz, 120 W) and different combination of these two methods: alkaline followed by ultrasonic, as well as the combining method in which ultrasonic treatment is applied to WAS samples dosed with alkaline, The hydrolysis efficiency was evaluated based on the quantity of soluble COD (SCOD) and organic nitrogen in the pretreated WAS as well as the production of total volatile fatty acids (TVFA) in the following biochemical acid potential (BAP) test. For WAS samples with described pretreatments, the released SCOD varied from 36% to 89% of the total COD (TCOD) and soluble organic nitrogen from 34% to 42%. The TVFA/TCOD ratio of the raw WAS used in this study was less than 10%. For the alkaline pretreated WAS, the TVFA/TCOD ratio increased to 30%, and the following ultrasonic treatment enhanced the ratio 66%. Further, WAS samples pretreated using simultaneous ultrasound and alkaline treatment in which ultrasonic was applied to WAS samples dosed with 40 meq/L NaOH for 14.4 sec/mL could achieve a maximum TVFA/TCOD ratio of 84% in 21 hours, Therefore, the combination of simultaneous alkaline and ultrasound pretreatment is efficient in enhancing the production of volatile acids in WAS in order to achieve recovery of volatile fatty acids from the WAS. The grain morphology of the films, as revealed by both scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy, shows distinct brick wall structure. The critical current densities measured along (001) direction of the substrates are about an order of magnitude higher than that measured on the other in-plane direction with no apparent weak-link behavior observed. The critical current densities in both directions, however, show a similar linear temperature dependence over a wide temperature range, indicative of a flux-creep limited mechanism. The creep rate in both cases, as fit to the Anderson-Kim creep model, is of order of 1 which is about an order of magnitude higher than that of conventional type-II superconductors. Samples co-ablated with silver were also studied. Detail mechanisms of pinning as wall as grain morphology evolutions are discussed.Item type:Item, Low contact resistance of poly-plug structure by in-situ HF-vapour cleaning(2000-04-13) ;Chen, JH ;Lei, TF ;Chao, TS ;Su, TPHuang, SJA low contact-resistance poly-plug structure realised by in-situ HF-vapour cleaning in a clustered tool is described. The native oxide in the contact area can be efficiently removed by the combination of an HF-dipping and in-situ HF-vapour cleaning process, resulting in a low specific contact resistance.Item type:Item, Template-assisted synthesis of mesoporous tubular carbon nanostructure by chemical vapor infiltration method(2006-03-01) ;Lo, AY ;Huang, SJ ;Chen, WH ;Peng, YRKuo, CTA novel synthesis route for fabrication of tubule mesoporous carbon by chemical vapor infiltration method using a mesoporous silica template is reported. Powder X-ray diffraction and pore size analysis revealed that the nano-sized carbon material consists of three-dimensional framework structure and possesses a bimodal pore distribution with average pore diameters of 1.5 and 3.3 nm. The formation of the former pore is ascribed due to removal of the silica template, whereas the latter represents pore size of tubule carbon with ordered structure having an average wall thickness corresponding to about 1.3 layers of graphitic sheets, as verified by Raman spectroscopy and electron microscopy.
