Item type:Item, High contrast ratio emi-flective LCD with nano-particle transflector(2007) ;Yang, Bo-Ru ;Lin, Kun-Yueh ;Shieh, Han-Ping D. ;Lee, Shih-NanChen, Chin H.A novel emi-flective display that integrates a reflective liquid crystal display (R-LCD) and an organic light emitting diode (OLED) display was demonstrated. Under the light ambience (if 30 nits, the OLED achieved a gain factor of 8 in contrast ratio (CR) compared with the conventional non-integrated OLED: besides, the OLED was fully operational and the system's CR of 5000:1 at the viewing cone of 50 degrees could be achieved. Moreover, the R-LCD retained a CR of 10:1 at the viewing cone of 55 degrees in the bright ambience. To enhance the image quality of both R-LCD and OLED, we laid a nano-particle film (NPF) in the intermediate section of the hybrid device. The NPF was demonstrated to enhance the light extraction in transmission mode of the integrated device to 103% and the haze function of the reflection mode to a factor of 15 compared with the freestanding mirror.Item type:Item, Influence of cesium vapor on the properties of ITO films deposited by RF magnetron sputtering(2005) ;Lee, Shih-Nan ;Yan, Ruei-Chih ;Chen, Chin H. ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryIndium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were deposited onto polyehtersulfone (PES) substrate at room temperature by negative sputter ion beam technology. The optical and electrical properties of ITO/PES substrates have been improved by introducing the Cs vapor during sputtering. Under our optimal condition, the resistivity of ITO/PES can reach 4.3 x 10(-4) Omega cm, which is lower than 1.6 x 10(-3) Omega cm of the traditional RF sputtered ITO films. The optical transmittance is 85% in visible region and surface morphology of the ITO/PES substrate shows the optimal surface roughness to be 0.95 nm (Ra; 0.74 nm).Item type:Item, Thin film encapsulation of thin-cathode organic electroluminescent devices(2006) ;Lee, Shih-Nan ;Hwang, Shiao-Wen ;Chen, Chin H. ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryWe have developed a novel thin film encapsulation method for thin-cathode OLED by introducing organic (not polymer)/inorganic multiple thin films to protect device, which is shown to slow down the permeation rate of moisture and oxygen. From the stability test of devices, the projected lifetime of thin-cathode OLED device with thin film encapsulation was similarly to that with glass lid encapsulation.Item type:Item, Thin-film encapsulation of thin-cathode organic light-emitting devices(2007-11-01) ;Lee, Shih-Nan ;Hwang, Shiao-Wen ;Chen, Chin H. ;應用化學系友訊交大聯合研發中心We have developed a novel thin-film encapsulation method for thin-cathode organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) by introducing organic (not polymer)/inorganic multiple thin films to protect devices, which is shown to slow down the permeation rate of moisture and oxygen. Under high light ambience (reflected luminance of 250 nits), a LCD incorporated with a volumetric scattering layer (VSL) showed a contrast ratio of 10 : 1 at the viewing cone of 60 degrees in the reflection mode. By adding the VSL to the LCD, the haze component was increased by a factor of 3.3. With the advantages of small form factor, flexibility, power-saving, and legibility in bright ambience, the FTF-LCD is very applicable to mobile products.
