Item type:Item, A fuzzy ranking method with range reduction techniques(2008-02-01) ;Ma, Li-Ching ;Li, Han-Lin ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceFor ranking alternatives based on pairwise comparisons, current analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methods are difficult to use to generate useful information to assist decision makers in specifying their preferences. This study proposes a novel method incorporating fuzzy preferences and range reduction techniques. Modified from the concept of data envelopment analysis (DEA), the proposed approach is not only capable of treating incomplete preference matrices but also provides reasonable ranges to help decision makers to rank decision alternatives confidently. However, there is no systematical way to help a decision maker to reduce these inconsistencies. This paper develops a model that can assist in making a consistent decision. Gower plots are used to detect major inconsistencies. A multi-objective program is then formulated to adjust both the cardinal inconsistencies and the preference changes subjected to the constraints of ordinal consistency.Item type:Item, Detecting and adjusting ordinal and cardinal inconsistencies through a graphical and optimal approach in AHP models(2007-03-01) ;Li, Han-Lin ;Ma, Li-Ching ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityAn AHP model suffering from significant cardinal or/and ordinal inconsistencies in its preference matrix is difficult to rank rationally the alternatives. This study proposes an iterative method to assist a decision maker to detect/adjust inconsistencies and to represent his/her judgments properly. A Gower plot is first used to detect ordinal and cardinal inconsistencies. Two optimization models are then constructed to provide suggeted adjustments upon the request of the decision maker. By examining the Gower plots and numerical suggestions, the decision maker may revise iteratively the preference ratios to improve inconsistencies until all alternatives are ranked. However, current DEA models are difficult to discriminate decision-making units through articulating the decision makers' preferences. While AHP and Gower plot models have to specify complete pairwise preferences without providing assisting information. This study develops an iterative method of ranking decision alternatives by integrating DEA, AHP and Gower plot techniques. The developed method first utilizes a modified DEA model to narrow the ranges of a decision maker's preferences. Then, the tentative ranks of the decision alternatives, computed by embedding the decision maker's preferences, are depicted via Gower plots to illustrate the cardinal and ordinal inconsistencies of these preferences. The decision maker then adjusts the preferences iteratively until the inconsistencies are within the tolerance.Item type:Item, Using Gower Plots and Decision Balls to rank alternatives involving inconsistent preferences(2011-06-01) ;Ma, Li-Ching ;Li, Han-Lin ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceRanking alternatives involving inconsistent preferences is one of the most important topics in decision-making. Determining how to assist decision makers in understanding the decision context and adjusting inconsistencies in judgment are two important issues in ranking alternatives. This study proposes a visualization approach which will assist decision makers in ranking alternatives involving inconsistent preferences. Gower Plots are adopted to detect alternatives involving inconsistencies. An adjusting model is developed to provide suggestions for simultaneously improving ordinal and cardinal inconsistencies. A Decision Ball model is applied to visualize the decision context. By a graphical and interactive interface, decision makers can iteratively detect inconsistencies, choose the preferred way to adjust inconsistencies, observe relationships among alternatives, and then rank alternatives. This study develops a Decision Ball model to assist a decision maker in ranking alternatives and visualizing decision process based on the Even Swap concept. By viewing the moving trajectories of alternatives on spheres, a decision maker can specify trade-offs among criteria via the Even Swap process thus ranking alternatives more consistently.
