Item type:Item, A 3D photographic capsule endoscope system with full field of view(2013) ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Jeng, Wei-De ;Lai, Chien-Cheng ;Kung, Yi-ChinnTao, Kuan-HengCurrent capsule endoscope uses one camera to capture the surface image in the intestine. It can only observe the abnormal point, but cannot know the exact information of this abnormal point. Using two cameras can generate 3D images, but the visual plane changes while capsule endoscope rotates. It causes that two cameras can't capture the images information completely. To solve this question, this research provides a new kind of capsule endoscope to capture 3D images, which is "A 3D photographic capsule endoscope system ". The system uses three cameras to capture images in real time. The advantage is increasing the viewing range up to 2.99 times respect to the two camera system. The system can accompany 3D monitor provides the exact information of symptom points, helping doctors diagnose the disease.Item type:Item, A Gray Level Weighting Method to Reduce Optical Aberration Effect in Holographic Data Storage System(2011-03-01) ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Chen, Yu-Ta ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsAn alignment method for holographic data storage system (HDSS) is proposed in this paper. Due to several types of noises encountered in the HDSS, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is degraded. Errors can be corrected using a channel code for some sorts of noise, while it may require a high quality optical system to reduce the error probability for the other types of noise. A checkerboard pattern is proposed using intensity weighting to find the fiducial points, which could work in a lower SNR system and thus reduce the error likelihood effectively. Reed-solomon (RS) code and oversampling are both made available in the HDSS. As a consequence, the aberration effects are eliminated using the fiducial points, leading to a low SNR system clear of errors after performing decoding. The lowest SNR system is out of error-free recovery condition, so that all the alignment methods proposed in this paper could not reduce the aberration effects to restore the images into the original data.Item type:Item, A recognition method in holographic data storage system by using structural similarity(2013-01-01) ;Chen, Yu-Ta ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Lee, Cheng-Chung ;電機工程學系Department of Electrical and Computer EngineeringThe holographic data storage system (HDSS) is a page-oriented storage system with advantages of great capacity and high speed. The page-oriented recording breaks the tradition of the optical storage of one-point recording. As the signal image is retrieved from the storage material in the HDSS, various noises influences the image and then the data retrieve will be difficultly from the image by using the thresholding method. For progressing on the thresholding method, a recognition method, based on the structural similarity, is proposed to replace the thresholding method in the HDSS. The recognition method is implemented that the image comparison between the receive image and reference image is performed by the structural similarity method to find the most similar reference image to the received image. In the experiment, by using recognition method, the bit error rate (BER) results in 26% decrease less than using the thresholding method in the HDSS. Owing to some strong effects, such as non-uniform intensity and strong speckle, still influencing on the received image, the recognition method is seemed to be slightly better than thresholding method. In the future, the strong effects would be reduced to improve the quality of the receive image and then the result of using the recognition method may be vastly better than the thresholding method.Item type:Item, A wearable infrared videopupillography with multi-stimulation of consistent illumination for binocular pupil response(2016-01-01) ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Lan, Ko Mei ;Tsai, Yi-Chun ;Chiou, Jin-ChernHuang, Ting-WeiThe pupil response to light can reflect various kinds of diseases which are related to physiological health. Pupillary abnormalities may be influenced on people by autonomic neuropathy, glaucoma, diabetes, genetic diseases, and high myopia. In the early stage of neuropathy, it is often asymptomatic and difficulty detectable by ophthalmologists. In addition, the position of injured nerve can lead to unsynchronized pupil response for human eyes. In our study, we design the pupilometer to measure the binocular pupil response simultaneously. It uses the different wavelength of LEDs such as white, red, green and blue light to stimulate the pupil and record the process. Therefore, the pupilometer mainly contains two systems. One is the image acquisition system, it use the two cameras modules with the same external triggered signal to capture the images of the pupil simultaneously. The other one is the illumination system. It use the boost converter ICs and LED driver ICs to supply the constant current for LED to maintain the consistent luminance in each experiments for reduced experimental error. Furthermore, the four infrared LEDs are arranged nearby the stimulating LEDs to illuminate eyes and increase contrast of image for image processing. In our design, we success to implement the function of synchronized image acquisition with the sample speed in 30 fps and the stable illumination system for precise measurement of experiment.Item type:Item, Adjustable panoramic inspection system for submillimeter fasteners(2020-04-10) ;Yan, Yung-Jhe ;Tsai, Ming-Shiou ;Chen, Wen-Bin ;Chen, You-BoSun, Ching-CherngFasteners are critical and indispensable locking components in mechanical assembly. Submillimeter fasteners are massively and widely used in electronic devices. This study proposed an adjustable panoramic inspection system for M2 to M0.8 submillimeter fasteners. The system mainly consists of a panoramic imaging module, a back-light module, and an image grabbing and computing module. The panoramic imaging module would form four equal optical path lengths to keep the same imaging amplification between the different directions of the field of view. The back-light module was designed to provide uniform illumination and enhance the contrast of the pitch edge between the fasteners and the background. The image grabbing and computing module with a high-speed camera was designed to be adjustable for different sizes of submillimeter fasteners. The realized system can offer the function of four images in one shot to make a panoramic scene, independent illumination for recognizing, inspect screws from M0.8 to M2.0 screws, and short time consumption of image processing, such as 3.284 ms for M0.8 screws and 2.384 ms for M2.0 screws, to achieve examination of 6000 pieces in 1 min. The embedded relay lens microscopic hyperspectral imaging system (ERL-MHIS) provides a morphological image of a biopsy sample and the spectrum of each pixel in the image simultaneously. Based on the ERL-MHIS, this work develops morphological and spectral methods to diagnose oral carcinoma biopsy. In morphological discrimination, the fractal dimension method is applied to differentiate between normal and abnormal tissues. In spectral identification, normal and cancerous cells are distinguished using five methods. However, the spectra of normal and cancerous cells vary with patient. The diagnostic performances of the five methods are thus not ideal. Hence, the proposed cocktail approach is used to determine the effectiveness of the spectral methods in correlating with the sampling conditions. And then we use a combination of effective spectral methods according to the sample conditions for diagnosing a sample. A total of 68 biopsies from 34 patients are analyzed using the ERL-MHIS. The results demonstrate a sensitivity of 90 +/- 4.53 % and a specificity of 87.8 +/- 5.21 %. Furthermore, in our survey, this system is the first time utilized to study oral carcinoma biopsies.Item type:Item, Coding optimization for the absolute optical rotary encoder(2018-01-01) ;Wang, Ting-Feng ;Yan, Yung-Jhe ;Chiang, Hou-Chi ;Chen, Tsan LinOu-Yang, MangPrecise positioning system is assuming increasing importance. One of Implementation is an optical rotary encoder system which is composed of a fixed light source, a group of photodetectors, and a coding disc. In fact, position resolution is affected with a permutation of coding on the disc. Unstable dc voltage was found from an analog signal transmitted by photoelectric detectors. Setting up a threshold voltage for digital binariz ation become difficult in this case. In this paper, the limitations, characteristics and operation mode of coding on the disc operation mode arrangement rules of coding on the disc was observed. After collecting the relevant literature, the mathematical sequence named De Bruijn sequence which matches to the arrangement of the above rules and restrictions was found. The desired requirements are summarized and used to filter out the best solution in all solution sets with the designed algorithm. Finally, the characteristics of new and old solutions are compared and discussed.Item type:Item, Design and analysis of radial imaging capsule endoscope (RICE) system(2011-02-28) ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Jeng, Wei-De ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsIn this study, a radial imaging capsule endoscope (RICE) system is designed, which differs from a conventional front imaging capsule endoscope (FICE) system. To observe the wrinkled intima of the intestine, which spreads without folding around the circumference of the capsule when a capsule endoscope with a diameter that slightly exceeds that of the intestine passes through it, the RICE uses a cone mirror, a radial window shell, and a focus optical module that comprise the radial imaging system. This concept was demonstrated in a packaged optical simulator. The RICE optical model also has been established and verified by many simulations and experiments. In minimizing the sagittal and tangential aberrations, the optical module of the RICE has achieved an F-number of 4.2, a viewing angle of 65.08 degrees, and an RMS radius of the 4th to 6th fields of less than 17 um. A comparison of these characteristics with those of the focus optical module that is used in FICE lenses reveals that the spot size is 50% larger for each field, and the modulation transfer function (MTF) is remarkably improved from 7% to 36% at 100 lp/mm on the 5th field of the sagittal plane. In the early stage of diabetes, symptoms are unobvious, but they usually induce diabetic autonomic neuropathy or, worse, cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy. Pupillometers are effective instruments for observing human pupils. This article presents a novel wearable pupillometer design, without external light artifacts, and an embedded algorithm with blinking elimination, which investigates autonomic neuropathy through recording pupil dynamics triggered by an external sensitive invisible light source. The pupillometer is experimented on 36 healthy subjects and 10 diabetic patients under four different colors (white, red, green, and blue) as well as two different light intensities: 50 and 500 mcd. Ten parameters derived from pupil diameter, pupil response time, and pupil response speed will be evaluated for the healthy subjects and diabetic patients. The results show that three in four parameters related to pupil diameters, one in four related to light intensities, and one in two related to pupil response speed could have significant differences (p < 0.05) between healthy subjects and diabetic patients. These parameters obtain over 85% sensitivity, 83% specificity, and 88% accuracy. The pupillometer is proven reliable, effective, portable, and inexpensive for diagnosing diabetes in an early stage. This paper proposes effective methods to determine the optimal converting point of CT conversion for display and lighting application. For display application, the concepts of center of gravity and isotemperature line are applied to determine the optimal converting point. The maximal enhancement of luminance between the optimal and average is 18%. For lighting application, this paper proposes two methods to determine the optimal converting point in the CT quadrangle which complies with ANSI C78. 377. The enhancement of luminance in two CT modes (5700K and 6500K) are 14.2% and 23.6%, respectively. By the designed mechanism, this hyperspectral system can provide more hands and broader wavelengths in every scan. The adequate spectral information of the target makes the analysis more comprehensive. For this hyperspectral system, the spatial correction and spectral correction are required. The spatial correction deals with the spatial match between the VIS and SWIR data. Moreover, the spectral correction is to eliminate the different response of the YES and SWIR sensor. The purpose of these corrections was to verify the design and provide the accurate reflection spectrum.Item type:Item, Development of absolutely radiant flux measurements with electrical calibrated microbolometer(2011) ;Hou, Kuan-Chou ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Chiou, Jin-Chern ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityAbsolutely flux radiometer measurements was developed with a microbolometer by using MEMS technology including lithography and etching. The radiometer is calibrated with electrical energy and adopted for absolute power and temperature drift, the sensor is called electric calibrated micro bolometer (EC mu B). Platinum is utilized to be a heater and a sensor at different layer, other electric isolation layers were used to separate signal from those two platinum layers. Those layers were integrated and constructed in a membrane which was formed by using TMAH etching solution. Accuracy of radiometer was identified that is proportional to ratio of electrical substitution power and radiant flux was measured with development of EC mu B.Item type:Item, Establish a six-primary color display without pixel-distortion and brightness loss(2008-01-01) ;Hsieh, Yao-Fang ;Chuang, Ming-Chuen ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Huang, Shih-WeiLi, Jia HaoRecently, color reproduction stages are developed greatly, such as liquid-crystal displays, LCD TV, LCD projectors, DLP projectors, and etc. Wide-color-gamut displays are distinguishing feature of many display manufacturers. Many researches about multi-primary color displays are proposed, but there are still some problems which are not solved. This study proposed a novel multi-primary projection display system using two projectors. One of the two projectors is modified by changing two dichroic mirrors inside. The modified projector is combined with the other to a new six-primary color display. This study applies equal-luminance boundary theorem to construct gamut volume and evaluates the merit between gamut volume and brightness. By this method, the cut-off wavelength of dichroic mirrors can be found out. In the past, to align the images of the two projectors is pre-distorted to compensate the trapezoidal distortion. This study proposes to eliminate trapezoidal distortion by using the offset of the projector. This study directly changes dichroic mirrors to maintain the brightness and contrast, and solves lower brightness and contrast resulted from adding filters before. Additionally, this study uses a reflection mirror to twist projection path and also constructs a stage to align projection images more accurately.Item type:Item, Finite conjugate embedded relay lens hyperspectral imaging system (ERL-HIS)(2011-11-20) ;Hsieh, Yao-Fang ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Lee, Cheng-Chung ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsWe present a novel embedded relay lens hyperspectral imaging system (ERL-HIS) with high spectral resolution (nominal spectral resolution of 2.8 nm) and spatial resolution (30 mu m x 8 mu m) that transfers the scanning plane to an additional imaging plane through the internal relay lens so as to alleviate all outside moving parts for the scanning mechanism used in the traditional HIS, where image scanning is achieved by the relative movement between the object and hyperspectrometer. The ERL-HIS also enables high-speed scanning and can attach to a variety of optical modules for versatile applications. Here, we also demonstrate an application of the proposed ERL-HIS attached to a microscopic system for observing autofluorescent images of sliced cancer tissue samples. Dependent primary color (DPC) is the color stimulus of a controllable color channel represented by an additive mixture of positive amounts of other primary colors. We propose a method to obtain the GBD of a MPD with one DPC. Further, the ideal color volume in CIE xyY and CIE L*a*b* color space with complete-controlling white channel is about 218.8% and 144% compared with the one of digital light processing with incomplete-controlling white channel. The white channel with complete control will not only increase brightness, but also expand color volume. The encoding method uses gray levels of a 2D detector to encode a certain amount of original bits of the original data, and then sends them to a spatial light modulator (SLM) for encryption. The decoding method corrects the received gray levels to the original gray levels, and then compares the maximum gray level with the original gray levels to decode the original gray level into binary data. The proposed encoding and decoding method can better make use of storage locations of the 2D detector and get a code rate close to 1.Item type:Item, Improve the image discontinuous problem by using color temperature mapping method(2011) ;Jeng, Wei-De ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Lai, Chien-Cheng ;Wu, Hsien-Ming電控工程研究所This article mainly focuses on image processing of radial imaging capsule endoscope (RICE). First, it used the radial imaging capsule endoscope (RICE) to take the images, the experimental used a piggy to get the intestines and captured the images, but the images captured by RICE were blurred due to the RICE has aberration problems in the image center and lower light uniformity affect the image quality. To solve the problems, image processing can use to improve it. Therefore, the images captured by different time can use Person correlation coefficient algorithm to connect all the images, and using the color temperature mapping way to improve the discontinuous problem in the connection region.Item type:Item, Improvement of bit error rate and page alignment in the holographic data storage system by using the structural similarity method(2012-06-01) ;Chen, Yu-Ta ;Ou-Yang, Mang ;Lee, Cheng-Chung ;電機工程學系Department of Electrical and Computer EngineeringAlthough widely recognized as a promising candidate for the next generation of data storage devices, holographic data storage systems (HDSS) incur adverse effects such as noise, misalignment, and aberration. Therefore, based on the structural similarity (SSIM) concept, this work presents a more accurate locating approach than the gray level weighting method (GLWM). Three case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Case 1 focuses on achieving a high performance of a Fourier lens in HDSS, Cases 2 and 3 replace the Fourier lens with a normal lens to decrease the quality of the HDSS, and Case 3 demonstrates the feasibility of a defocus system in the worst-case scenario. Moreover, the bit error rate (BER) is evaluated in several average matrices extended from the located position. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed SSIM method renders a more accurate centering and a lower BER, lower BER of 2 dB than those of the GLWM in Cases 1 and 2, and BER of 1.5 dB in Case 3. The measurement determines to identify three factors (i.e., box size, image displacement, and spatial frequency response (SFR)) from the box patterns. The polarized based stereoscopic displays might sacrifice pixels for producing 3D images, which might produce errors in the image displacement and then affect the depth perception indirectly. Based on the measurement, the errors can be quantified by using the three factors. Owing to the light leakage distorting the edge spread function to obtain an inferior SFR, exactly how light leakage affects the edge spread function can be resolved on the basis of the SFR results, especially at a frequency (1/display pixel) of 1.9 in the case of the horizontal displacement. Light leakage also induces the error of the box height in even and odd intervals of the vertical displacements more than 2pixels and 0.5pixels, respectively. The image displacement measurement provides a simple and comprehensive means of evaluating the optical characteristics, disparity, and sharpness of the stereoscopic displays, via the three factors.
