Group Velocity and Energy Velocity In Lossless,Isotropic and Homogeneous Dielectric Slab Guide

When a uniform E.M. Plane wave travels in a dense perfect dieletric incident on the boundary of a less dense perfect dielectric, total reflection will occur, if the incident angle is greater than the critical angle. If both dielectrics are lossless, isotropic, and homogeneous, then the reflected plane wave in the denser medium will still be uniform and the transmitted wave in the less dense material will be nonuniform. Let us consider a slab guide immersed in air. The geometry of the slab is assumed to be infinitely wide, but with finite thickness. The dielectric in the slab is lossless, isotropic, and homogeneous where its permittivity is larger than that in air and its permeability is not less than that in air. Thus the uniform plane waves propagating in the slab possess the property of total reflection as stated in the preceeding paragraph. The investigations of dielectric slab guide have been largely based on the graphical method while in this paper, the analytic method is adopted. The field distribution is describedfirst, and then the phase, group and energy velocity are derived, finally the relationship among them is established.

電子計算機之設計

在現在科學昌明的社會裡，電子計算機已成為工商業上、科學上，以及社會各方面不可缺少的工具，歐美各國，已使用的非常普遍，而在台灣，卻使用的很少。然而我們要使經濟繁榮工業起飛，電子計算機的使用，將是加速我們進步最有力的工具。我們可以預言，在不久的將來，台灣將普遍的使用電子計算機，做種種的工作。交大這次製造實驗用電子計算機，其目的有二，第一是做教學實驗之用，學生可以利用這個計算機，了解計算機內部的構造及其計算原理，同時也可應用此計算機做各種實驗。第二、就是希望能以此為開端，這是我們自己為自己製造電子計算機的一個最基本的嘗試，我們認為，這是台灣發展電子工業之中應該做的事情，同時我們更殷切的期望，在不久的將來，我們自己能設計、製造各式各樣的電子計算機，普遍應用於社會各方面。此電子計算機是在交通大學研究所，電子計算機設計課程中作者與孫國祥、林子浩、鄭邴陸、陳英亮四位同學共用實驗的結果，粗陋之處，還望各位先進，不吝賜教是幸。

The Fabrication and The Characteristics of Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Transistors

The theory of MOS transistors is introduced in brief and the design and the fabrication of MOS transistors are disgussed in detail. The experimental MOS transistor characteristics show the effects of the surface states and can be determined by the gate capacitance versus gate voltage characteristics by a spacially designed automatic curve tracer.

Stability Analysis of High Order Systems With Multiple Nonlinearities

A method of testing stability in high order systems with multiple nonlinearities is presented. The presented method can be used to find the limit cycles and the relative stability characteristics of a system. A control system for satellite attitude stabilization is considered, and a system with three nonlinearities is analyzed.

Investigation on Characteristics of 6328Å He-Ne Gas Laser

The properties of He-Ne gas laser has been investigated by many workers in this field. Yet due to the complicated dependence of characteristics especially of output power on tube parameters, no simple theory exists which could predict the detail of it. Hence more experimental investigations are required in order to reveal the output power characteristics of He-Ne gas laser. The purpose of this investigation is to observe the output power characteristics of He-Ne gas laser at 6328 Å wavelenth, the result would help to obtain the optimum power output for a given tube as well as optimum operation condition. The dependence of output power on excitation power is investigated first. This yields a different result from previous observation for a different laser tube. The variation of output power as well as radiation mode against the iris diameter is obtained by insertion of iris into resonator cavity. Besides, some investigationof polarization of laser beam by using polarizer variations of output power by applying different mode pattern are also made Finally the fluctuation of output power due to thermal effect is also presented.
