Item type:Item, Optical monitoring apparatus for use in wavelength division multiplexing network(2006-03-07) ;Chi ;Sien ;Lee ;Chien-ChungYehAn optical monitoring apparatus based on the scanning of the gain profile of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) and applied in a wavelength division multiplexing network has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The EDFA with an injected saturated tone can provide variable gain or loss profile by controlling the pump power. The components used in the present optical monitoring apparatus for use in a wavelength division multiplexing network are easily available and cost-effective, valuable for monitoring frequency and power of a WDM optical communication system, and capable of greatly enhancing resolution of monitoring frequency spectrum for the optical fiber network system.Item type:Item, Neuroimmunological evidence and enzymatic characterization of a novel dehydroepiandrosterone sulfotransferase in Drosophila brain(2006-03-07) ;Liu, TA ;Yang, YS ;生物科技學系Department of Biological Science and TechnologyItem type:Item, beta-lactoglobulin plays a provocative role in lymphocyte proliferation(2006-03-07) ;Chen, WL ;Liu, WT ;Ko, LP ;Mao, SJT生物科技學系Item type:Item, Nano-surgery on cancer cells by protein-nanodiamond complex.(2006-03-07) ;Chang, CC ;Chao, JI ;Sun, KW ;Cheng, CL生物科技學系Item type:Item, Rearrangebility of bit permutation networks(2006-03-07) ;Bao, XW ;Hwang, FK ;Li, Q ;應用數學系Department of Applied MathematicsIn this paper, we introduce the concept of routing grid as a tool for analyzing realizability of permutations on bit permutation networks (BPNs). We extend a result by Linial and Tarsi which characterizes permutations realizable on shuffle-exchange networks to any BPNs. A necessary condition for a BPN to be rearrangeable is given, and the rearrangeability of two families of BPNs are explored. Finally, we present a method which may help to tackle one kind of balanced matrix problems whose solution implies an answer to Benes conjecture. Hopefully, our treatment brings some new insight into the problem of permutation routing. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. In this paper, we prove the same conclusion for the multi-log(d) N network. We also extend our results, except for the minimum index strategy, to a general class of networks including the 3-stage Clos network and the multi-log(d) N network as special cases. This system is intended for a personal computer and is capable of rendering sound images positioned arbitrarily around a listener, synchronizing with the video image. The proposed system features the spatial audio technologies such as the head-related transfer function (HRTF), the reverberator, and the cross-talk cancellation system (CCS). Of particular importance in this paper is that inverse filtering with Tikhonov regularization technique is employed in designing the multi-channel filters to cancel the crosstalks. To ease the computation loading, the CCS is implemented for frequencies below 5.5 kHz by using a subband filtering approach. The system is implemented on a 5 x I panel speaker array. Experimental investigation indicated that the proposed system is effective in creating an immersive sound field, in complement with video rendering. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. The present invention can accomplish the nanometric pores aligned in array and with an uniform pore diameter, and simultaneously have the advantages of simplified manufacturing process, easier operational control and reduced cost.Item type:Item, Charge-orbital ordering and verwey transition in magnetite measured by resonant soft X-ray scattering(2006-03-10) ;Huang, DJ ;Lin, HJ ;Okamoto, J ;Chao, KSJeng, HTWe report experimental evidence for the charge-orbital ordering in magnetite below the Verwey transition temperature T-V. Measurements of O K-edge resonant x-ray scattering on magnetite reveal that the O 2p states in the vicinity of the Fermi level exhibit a charge-orbital ordering along the c axis with a spatial periodicity of the doubled lattice parameter of the undistorted cubic phase. Such a charge-orbital ordering vanishes abruptly above T-V and exhibits a thermal hysteresis, correlating closely with the Verwey transition in magnetite.Item type:Item, Study in IC chip failure during pick-up process by using experimental and finite element methods(2006-03-10) ;Cheng, TH ;Du, CC ;Tseng, CH ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringStress contours of an IC chip and the displacement contours of the adhesive between an IC chip and blue tape in the pick-up integrated circuit (IC) chip process are obtained using experimental and finite element methods. The physical and mechanical properties of the material used in FEM are determined by pre-experimental tests. Some factors that importantly influence the failure of a pick-up IC chip during the pick-up IC chip process are proposed. The pre-expermiental material properties are manifest in the practical behavior of material, so the post-experimental results are approximately consistent with the FEM results. Post-expermients further demonstrated that the findings of this study can be used to increase the success rate of the pick-up IC chip process. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. A large memory window is observed due to the retainable dangling bonds inside the SiGeN gate stack layer. The nonvolatile memory device with the high-temperature oxidized SiGeN stack layer exhibits 2 V threshold voltage shift under 7 V write operation, which is sufficient for a memory device to define the signal "0" and "1." Also, the manufacture technology using the sequent high-temperature oxidation of the a-Si layer acting as the blocking oxide is proposed to enhance the performance of nonvolatile memory devices. This work investigated in detail the microstructural development of in- and anti-phase bonded interfaces for n-type (100) GaAs wafers treated at 500, 600, 700 and 850 degrees C. The interfacial energy of anti-phase bonding is higher than that of in-phase bonding based on the first-principles calculations. The higher interface energy tends to stabilize the interfacial oxide layer. The continuous interfacial oxide layer observed below 700 degrees C can deteriorate the electrical property due to its insulating property. However, the existence of nanoscaled oxide at anti-phase bonded interfaces can improve the electrical conductivity at 700 degrees C. This is due to the suppression of the evaporation of As atom by the interfacial nanoscaled oxides based on the analysis of autocorrelation function and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. On the pre-coated ZnO epilayer, ZnO nanowires are vertically aligned with good in-plane alignment as a result of homoepitaxy, whereas on the bare c-plane sapphire, besides a few nanowires vertically aligned with [0001]znO parallel to [0001](Al2O3), the nanowires were properly aligned with three-fold rotation symmetry. The ZnO nanowires are well-defined hexagonal crystals with diameters of 70-500 nm and lengths of up to several micrometres. In the junction regions between the pre-coated epilayer and the bare sapphire surface, however, ZnO nanobelts (nanoribbons) were found. Cathodoluminescence measurements revealed that the emission at 3.26 eV is correlated with free-exciton recombination and the broad green emission at 2.48 eV is attributed to surface defects. The stronger green emission implies that more surface defects exist on the side walls of nanowires and nanobelts. In Raman scattering, the E1 (LO) mode is sensitive to the orientation of nanostructure that is consistent with the cathodoluminescence results.Item type:Item, 管管作品五首(2006-03-15)管管Item type:Item, Generation of frequency tunable polarization entangled photon pairs(2006-03-15) ;Yabushita, A ;Kobayashi, T ;電子物理學系Department of ElectrophysicsPhoton pairs with correlated frequencies from an optical parametric system were generated by a continuous wave pump focused on a type-II nonlinear crystal with polarization entanglement. The polarization entanglement of the frequency resolved photons was measured under several typical configurations. By optimizing a condition, the degree of polarization entanglement was improved substantially. We proposed the application of the system, which can be used as a light source of wavelength division multiplexing quantum key distribution, optimizing the configuration of the photon-pair generation. Many novel approaches such as artificial neural networks (ANNs), rough sets, or decision trees have been proposed to increase the accuracy of credit scoring models. Since an improvement in accuracy of a fraction of a percent might translate into significant savings, a more sophisticated model should be proposed for significantly improving the accuracy of the credit scoring models. In this paper, two-stage genetic programming (2SGP) is proposed to deal with the credit scoring problem by incorporating the advantages of the IF-THEN rules and the discriminant function. On the basis of the numerical results, we can conclude that 2SGP can provide the better accuracy than other models.
