Item type:Item, Study of hole concentration of 1,4-bis[N-(1-naphthyl)-N-'-phenylamino]-4,4(') diamine doped with tungsten oxide by admittance spectroscopy(2006-09-04) ;Hsieh, Ming-Ta ;Chang, Chan-Ching ;Chen, Jenn-Fang ;Chen, Chin H.電子物理學系The effect of tungsten oxide (WO3) incorporation into 1,4-bis[N-(1-naphthyl)-N-'-phenylamino]-4,4(') diamine (NPB) layer is investigated in NPB-tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminium heterojunction organic light-emitting diodes. The admittance spectroscopy studies show that increasing the WO3 volume percentage from 0% to 16% can increase the hole concentration of the NBP layer from 1.97x10(14) to 1.90x10(17) cm(-3) and decrease the activation energy of the resistance of the NPB layer from 0.354 to 0.176 eV. Thus, this incorporation reduces the Ohmic loss and increases the band bending in the NBP layer near the interface, resulting in an improved hole injection via tunneling through a narrow depletion region. The highest luminance efficiency obtained with a 1-nm-thick LiMnxOy layer is very similar to that of the device with 1-nm-thick LiF. However, the device with an 18 nm LiMnxOy layer obtained a longer operational stability although the luminance efficiency is lower. The improvements are attributed to lithium extractions of the lithium manganese oxide layer and the interfacial properties between Alq(3) and Al are discussed. T. ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThis letter presents an approach to characterize electron behaviors within polygonal micromachined spiral inductors in which self-resonance occurs. Combining with the concepts of anomalous dispersion, standing wave, and field scattering, the self-resonant frequency of the microinductors can be calculated by means of an associated analytical model. According to this model the self-resonant frequency (SRF) can be derived as the "free electron" frequency of the inductor material. Simulation and measurement results validate that the model can provide a satisfactory prediction to the SRF of polygonal micromachined spiral inductors. The isometric path number of G, denoted by ip(G), is the minimum number of isometric paths needed to cover all vertices of G. In this paper, we determine exact values of isometric path numbers of complete r-partite graphs and Cartesian products of 2 or 3 complete graphs. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. The proposed method is based on total-internal-reflection effects and chromatic dispersion. Under the total-internal-reflection condition, the phase difference between the S and P polarizations, as a function of the wavelength and refractive index, can be extracted and measured using heterodyne interferometry. Various wavelengths correspond to various refractive index values. The proposed map is convenient in ensuring the prism material using a specific V number. The method has the following merits: high stability, ease of operation, and rapid measurement. M. ;Abernathy, Harry ;Chen, Hsin-Tsung ;Lin, M. C.Liu, MeilinInteractions between O-2 and CeO2 are examined experimentally using in situ Raman spectroscopy and theoretically using density-functional slob-model calculations. Two distinct oxygen bonds appear at 825 and 1131 cm(-1), corresponding to peroxo- and superoxo-like species, respectively, when partially reduced CeO2 is exposed to 10% O-2. Periodic density-functional theory (DFT) calculations aid the interpretation of spectroscopic observations and provide energetic and geometric information for the dioxygen species adsorbed on CeO2. The O-2 adsorption energies on unreduced CeO2 surfaces ore endothermic (0.91 < Delta E-ads < 0.98 eV), while those on reduced surfaces are exothermic (-4. 0 < Delta E-ads < -0.9 eV), depending on other relevant surface processes such as chemisorption and diffusion into the bulk. Partial reduction of surface Ce4+ to Ce3+ (together with formation of oxygen vacancies) alters geometrical parameters and, accordingly, leads to a shift in the vibrational frequencies of adsorbed oxygen species compared to those on unreduced CeO2. Moreover, the location of oxygen vacancies affects the formation and subsequent dissociation of oxygen species on the surfaces. DFT predictions of the energetics support the experimental observation that the reduced surfaces are energetically more favorable than the unreduced surfaces for oxygen adsorption and reduction.
