Chemical formation of palladium-free surface-nickelized polyimide film for flexible electronics

Flexible polyimide (PI) films for flexible electronics were surface-nickelized using a fully solution-based process and excellent adhesion between the nickel and polyimide phases was observed. Polyimide substrates were modified by alkaline hydrolysis, ion exchange, reduction and nickel electroless deposition without palladium. Atomic force microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy were used to follow the growth of nickel nanoparticles (Ni-NPs) and nickel layers on the polyimide surface. The surface resistances of the Ni-NPs/PI films and Ni/PI films, measured using a four-point probe, were 1.6x10(7) and 0.83 Omega/cm(2), respectively. The thicknesses of Ni-NPs and the Ni layer on the polyimide surface were 82 nm and 382 nm, respectively, as determined by transmission electron microscopy, and the Ni layer adhered well to PI, as determined by the adhesive tape testing method. This paper extends the classical linear mixed model by considering a multivariate skew-normal assumption for the distribution of random effects. We present an efficient hybrid ECME-NR algorithm for the computation of maximum-likelihood estimates of parameters. A score test statistic for testing the existence of skewness preference among random effects is developed. The technique for the prediction of future responses under this model is also investigated. The methodology is illustrated through an application to Framingham cholesterol data and a simulation study. Copyright (C) 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

意外經常就在不注意的時候降臨，最常見的情況就是在身體有異狀的時候卻沒人注意只能默默的等待死亡。氣胸的發生率，大概每十萬人中有八到十人會發作，且男多於女，大約是6:1，任何人都有可能會發生。對於這類隱形殺手，除了自身日常作息需要正常以外，週遭的親朋好友更是重要關鍵。多多關心身邊的人，也許因為平常關心慰問的一兩句話就可以挽救一個人的一生。

Preparation of palladium membrane by electroplating on AISI 316L porous stainless steel supports and its use for methanol steam reformer

A novel electroplating method of preparing Pd-membrane on an AISI 316L porous stainless steel support is successfully developed by proper control of rotation speed of the support. The use of low-current density with high-rotation speed enables us to avoid hydrogen absorption during electroplating and to prepare smooth thin surfaced membrane with defect free. The electroplated-Pd-membrane shows well property in the hydrogen permeation, flux and excellent permselectivity (H-2/He > 100,000), and is used in a membrane-assisted steam reformer of methanol for the production of high-purity hydrogen. It was also found that the membrane spontaneously exhibited to resist hydrogen embrittlement under the phase-transition temperature of 280 degrees C, when operated in the temperature range of 250-350 degrees C under the hydrogen pressure of 9 kgf/cm(2).
