We monitored the effects of several of the CSEI-sweeping-MEKC parameters - including the pH, the concentrations of high-conductivity buffer (HCB), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). and organic modifier, the injection length of the HCB, and the injection time of the sample - to optimize the separation process. The optimal background electrolyte was 50 mM citric acid/disodium hydrogenphosphate buffer (pH 2.2) containing 100 mM SDS and 22% isopropyl alcohol. The sensitivity enhancements of the SSRIs sertraline, fluoxetine, paroxetine, fluvoxamine, and citalopram ranged from 5.7 x 10(4) to 1.2 x 10(5); the coefficients of determination exceeded 0.9938 and the relative standard deviations of the peak heights were less than 3.2%; the detection limits ranged from 0.056 to 0.22 ng/mL We employed the optimal conditions to analyze these five SSRIs in a plasma sample prepared using solid-phase extraction (SPE) to minimize the influence of the matrix. Although the limits of detection of the SSRIs in human plasma were higher than those in pure water, this present technique is more sensitive than other, more-conventional methods. The recovery of the SPE extraction efficiency was satisfactory (up to 89%). Our findings suggest that, under the optimal conditions, the CSEI-sweeping-MEKC method can be used successfully to determine these five SSRIs in human plasma. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. By shifting the lattice points around the bend corner, the bound state in the waveguide bend and the guided mode in the straight waveguide are matching, and the transmission of a PC waveguide bend can be significantly improved. The transmission of a 120 degrees PC waveguide bend with mode matching is dramatically improved from 5.7% to 87.5%. The bound state in a PC waveguide bend is similar to a cavity mode; therefore, the PC waveguide bend performs a narrowband transmission. Frequency shift of the spectra for a PC waveguide bend due to this lattice shifting can also be observed.Item type:Item, Vendor selection by integrated fuzzy MCDM techniques with independent and interdependent relationships(2008-11-01) ;Yang, Jiann Liang ;Chiu, Huan Neng ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung ;Yeh, Ruey Huei科技管理研究所Vendor selection is an evaluation process that is based on many criteria that uses inaccurate or uncertain data. But while the criteria are often numerous and the relationships between higher-level criteria and lower-level sub-criteria are complex, most conventional decision models cannot help us clarify the interrelationships among the sub-criteria. Our proposed integrated fuzzy multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) method addresses this issue within the context of the vendor selection problem. First. we use triangular fuzzy numbers to express the subjective preferences of evaluators. Second. we use interpretive structural modeling (ISM) to map out the relationships among the sub-criteria. Third, we use the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method to compute the relative weights for each criterion, and we use non-additive fuzzy integral to obtain the fuzzy synthetic performance of each common criterion. Fourth, the best vendor is determined according to the overall aggregating score of each vendor using the fuzzy weights with fuzzy synthetic Utilities. Fifth, we use an empirical example to show that our proposed method is preferred to the traditional method. especially when the sub-criteria are interdependent. Finally, our results provide valuable suggestions to vendors on how to improve each SUb-criterion so that they can bridge the gap between actual and aspired performance values in the future. The module comprises an embedded inverted-F antenna, a bandpass filter, and a low-pass filter. Both the proposed filters possess transmission zeros at out band for suppressing unwanted signals. A double-pole double-throw bare die transmitting/receiving switch is mounted on the surface of the substrate. The interconnection between the bare die switch and the buried circuits is established by bond wires. The effect of the bond wire is considered by incorporating its equivalent inductance into the design of the filters. The overall size of the antenna front-end module is only 6.2 mm x 5.4 mm x 0.98 mm with most of the space (near two-thirds of the volume) reserved for the antenna so as to have a better radiation performance. Also, to avoid the potential close proximity coupling among the buried circuits and the antenna, numerous metal vias connecting the top and bottom grounds in the module are designed for shielding. Since the radiation of a small antenna is influenced by the nearby circuit ground due to induced ground current, the developed antenna front-end module is tested on two FR4 printed circuit boards (PCBs) with different sizes (i.e., 55 mm x 20 mm and 80 mm x 46 mm). It is demonstrated that the antenna module performs well on these two grounded PCBs. The achieved 10-dB return-loss bandwidths are near 900 MHz for the transmitting and receiving paths. The measured radiation patterns are quite omnidirectional with peak gains (including the losses of circuit components) at approximately 0 dBi for the transmitting path and -1.7 dBi for the receiving path.Item type:Item, Determination of cocaine and its metabolites using cation-selective exhaustive injection and sweeping-MEKC(2008-11-01) ;Su, Hsiu-Li ;Feng, Lan-Ing ;Jen, Hsiu-Ping ;Hsieh, You-Zung應用化學系We have employed a high-sensitivity on-line preconcentration method, cation-selective exhaustive injection (CSEI) and sweeping MEKC, for the analysis of cocaine, benzoylecgonine, norcocaine, and cocaethylene. We monitored the effects of several of the CSEI-sweeping-MEKC parameters - including the pH, the concentrations of SDS and organic modifier, the injection length of the high-conductivity buffer, and the injection time of the sample - to optimize the separation process. The optimal BGE was 100 mM phosphoric acid (pH 1.8) containing 75 mM SDS with 10% 2-propanol and 10% tetrahydrofuran as the organic modifier. In addition, electrokinetic injection of the sample at 15 kV for 900 s provided both high separation efficiency and enhanced sweeping sensitivity. The sensitivity enhancements for cocaine, norcocaine, and cocaethylene ranged from 2.06 x 10(4) to 3.96 x 10(4); for benzoylecgonine it was 1.75 x 10(3); the coefficients of determination exceeded 0.9958. The LODs, based on an SIN ratio of 3:1, of sweeping-MEKC ranged from 33.5 to 52.8 ng/mL; in contrast, when using CSEI-sweeping-MEKC the sensitivity increased to range from 29.7 to 236 pg/mL. Under the optimal conditions, we analyzed cocaine in a human urine sample prepared using off-line SPE to minimize the influence of the matrix. The recovery of the SPE efficiency was satisfactory (ca. 74.9-87.6%). Our experimental results suggest that, under the optimal conditions, the CSEI-sweeping-MEKC method can be used to determine cocaine and its metabolites with high sensitivity in human urine.Item type:Item, A File Repair Scheme for UMTS MBMS Service(2008-11-01) ;Lai, Yen-Cheng ;Lin, Phone ;Lin, Yi-Bing ;Chang, Lu-Tsung資訊工程學系The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Technical Specification 23.246 proposed the Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) that efficiently multicasts multimedia content. During NOMS content transmission, data may be lost. Three file repair schemes were proposed to retransmit the corrupted MBMS data. However, these schemes may introduce extra data traffic or signaling overheads. This paper proposes the Reuse Bearer Service (RBS) file repair scheme to resolve this issue. We analyze the four file repair schemes by analytical models and simulation experiments. This paper shows that the proposed RBS scheme may significantly outperform the previously proposed schemes.Item type:Item, Complete Complementary Codes and Generalized Reed-Muller Codes(2008-11-01) ;Chen, Chao-Yu ;Wang, Chung-Hsuan ;Chao, Chi-Chao ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringDue to ideal autocorrelation and cross-correlation properties, complete complementary codes (CCCs) can be employed in CDMA systems to eliminate the multiple-access interference. In this letter, we propose a direct general construction of CCCs from cosets; of the first-order Reed-Muller codes, which includes previous results as a special case. The larger number of CCCs constructed by our method can provide advantages in applications to cellular CDMA systems.Item type:Item, A Study for Safety and Health Management Problem of Semiconductor Industry in Taiwan(2008-11-01) ;Chao, Chin-Jung ;Wang, Hui-Ming ;Feng, Wen-Yang ;Tseng, Feng-Yi工業工程與管理學系The main purpose of this study is to discuss and explore the safety and health management in semiconductor industry. The pulse duration corresponded to 2.8 cycles of the central wavelength of the laser spectrum at 610 nm. The induced spectral change was time-resolved with a 0.8 fs delay time step and the effective absorbance change Delta A (lambda, t) was calculated from the normalized transmittance change Delta T(lambda, t)/T. The observed optical and vibrational 2-D spectrum was analyzed to separate the electronic and vibrational contributions to the transient difference absorption spectrum. The probe wavelength dependence of the vibrational amplitude was explained in terms of the coupling between the laser field, Stokes field, and the vibrational coordinates. Simultaneous measurement of both the time and wavelength dependence of the vibrational amplitudes clearly showed that the broadband spectra of the components corresponding to the laser and Stokes lights are oscillating in pi out of phase with the corresponding vibrational frequency. The probe delay time and probe wavelength dependence of the oscillation in the absorbance change induced by the femtosecond laser were fully analyzed. The results were explained by the imaginary and real part of the third-order susceptibility, respectively.Item type:Item, Multi-Level Balanced Isolated Floating Difference Amplifier(2008-11-01) ;Tung, Yung-Cheng ;Jeng, Shyr-Long ;Chieng, Wei-Hua ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringAn innovative amplifier is proposed for applications involving high capacitive load and large voltage output swing, such as piezoelectric (PZT) actuator drivers. This amplifier is configured in a multi-level arrangement with floating amplifiers, yielding a high voltage gain as a sum of all individual gains from its operational amplifiers. The merits of such an amplifier also include a wide bandwidth and high potential power. Experiments using a six-level arrangement demonstrate a 100 kHz bandwidth with +/-200 V output swing for different capacitive loadings.Item type:Item, Impacts of N-2 and NH3 Plasma Surface Treatments on High-Performance LTPS-TFT With High-kappa Gate Dielectric(2008-11-01) ;Ma, Ming-Wen ;Chao, Tien-Sheng ;Chiang, Tsung-Yu ;Wu, Woei-CherngLei, Tan-FuLow-temperature polycrystalline-silicon thin-film transistors (LTPS-TFTs) with high-kappa gate dielectrics and plasma surface treatments are demonstrated for the first time. Significant field-effect mobility mu(FE) improvements of similar to 86.0% and 112.5% are observed for LTPS-TFTs with HfO2 gate dielectric after N-2 and NH3 plasma surface treatments, respectively. In addition, the N2 and NH3 plasma surface treatments can also reduce surface roughness scattering to enhance the field-effect mobility mu(FE) at high gate bias voltage V-G, resulting in 217.0% and 219.6% improvements in driving current, respectively. As a result, high-performance LTPS-TFT with low threshold voltage V-TH similar to 0.33 V, excellent subthreshold swing S.S. similar to 0.156 V/decade, and high field-effect mobility mu(FE) similar to 62.02 cm(2) /V . s would be suitable for the application of system-on-panel. Item type:Item, Rayleigh Backscattering Performance of OFDM-QAM in Carrier Distributed Passive Optical Networks(2008-11-01) ;Chow, C. W. ;Yeh, C. H. ;Shih, F. Y. ;Chi, S.光電工程學系The passive optical network (PON) using an orthogonal frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) format is a subject of many research works recently. Due to the high spectral efficiency, low bandwidth optical components can be used in this OFDM-PON. We quantify, for the first time, the performance of the OFDM signal when subjected to the noise generated by the two components of the Rayleigh backscattering (RB): carrier generated RB (carrier-RB) and signal generated RB (signal-RB) that are present in the carrier-distributed PONs. An RB comparison between OFDM quadrature amplitude modulation and nonreturn-to-zero is preformed.Item type:Item, Synthesis and characterization of alkali-metal tin(II) phosphates: Na(10)Sn(31)(HPO(4))(6)(P(2)O(7))(6)(PO(4))(12) and K(2)SnP(2)O(7)(2008-11-01) ;Weng, Sheng-Feng ;Chen, Kuei-Bo ;Lee, Chi-Shen ;應用化學系應用化學系分子科學碩博班Two new alkali-metal tin(II) phosphates - Na(10)Sn(31)(HPO(4))(6)(P(2)O(7))(6)(PO(4))(12) (1) and K(2)SnP(2)O(7) (2) - were synthesized by high-temperature reactions and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Y. ;Chou, C. L. ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceRecently, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is becoming an important research topic. One goal for ITS is to disseminate important information among vehicles in a timely and efficient manner. In the ITS research community, inter-vehicle communications (IVC) is considered a way that may be able to achieve this goal. An information network built on top of vehicles using IVC can be viewed as a type of mobile ad hoc networks. Although several information dissemination protocols for mobile ad hoc networks have been proposed, how well they can be applied to a vehicle-formed mobile ad hoc network is still poorly studied. Without doubt, no matter what methodology is taking for designing an IVC suitable information dissemination protocol, the protocol performance is fundamentally limited by the potential degree of physical-link connectivity. Thus, in this paper, some potential link attributes of IVC networks, such as the lifetime of a transmission path between two vehicles, are studied based on reasonable vehicle traces generated by a microscopic traffic simulator. Although no specific protocol is focused on in this paper, the studied results can potentially contribute to performance improvement and/or protocol efficiently for any existed or developing protocol.Item type:Item, Identifying Discriminative Amino Acids Within the Hemagglutinin of Human Influenza A H5N1 Virus Using a Decision Tree(2008-11-01) ;Wu, Li-Ching ;Horng, Jorng-Tzong ;Huang, Hsien-Da ;Chen, Wei-Long生物資訊及系統生物研究所Recently, the H5N1 virus has had an increasingly important impact on human life. This is because more and more people are becoming infected with this virus, and the possibility of a serious pandemic with human to human transmission is looming. This might occur if the genome of this influenza virus mutates either by antigenic drift or by antigenic shift, especially if there is a mutation of the hemagglutinin (HA) glycoprotein. The HA is the surface glycoprotein, and it binds to sialic acid of the host cell surface receptor. Thus, the combination of HA and sialic acid are central to whether influenza virus infects humans. In this study, we selected 497 HA protein sequences from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Influenza Resource database, and used a decision tree method to identify discriminative amino acids in the HA protein sequences that may possibly influence the binding of HA to sialic acid. Four such amino acid positions at 54, 55, 241, and 281 were identified and these may play an important role in infection by H5N1 influenza virus.Item type:Item, Sliding Mode Control Using Virtual Eigenvalue Method for Compact Optical Image Stabilization Actuators(2008-11-01) ;Yu, Hsing-Cheng ;Liu, T. S. ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringThe latest research in optical image stabilization actuators (OISA) focuses on improving the image quality of high resolution cameras in a photographing optical system (POS). The focal image blur is always caused of external and environmental jitter when pictures of an image sensor are acquired by photographers. Several works concerned for OISA are emphasized mainly OISA design methods; consequently, they are devoted to minimizing dimensions and maximizing driving magnetic force with low power consumption. Although two proportional-integral-derivative controllers and lead-lag compensators have been proposed to position dual axes of OISA in a POS, they lack robustness to compensate nonuniform friction, system uncertainty, and external disturbance. Therefore, this work aims at the sliding mode control (SMC) using virtual eigenvalue method to achieve fast time response and accurate position despite vibration from external jitter and friction of a compact OISA. The sliding surface can be reached in finite time to match disturbance. Accordingly, the SMC algorithm works well despite system uncertainty and external disturbance, and then the time response of simulation and experiment are matched. In consequence, the settling time of dual axes are converged within 0.2 s when the dual axes of movable platform of a compact OISA move at 0.5 mm stroke in a POS.Item type:Item, Constellation Deployment for the FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC Mission(2008-11-01) ;Fong, Chen-Joe ;Shiau, Wen-Tzong ;Lin, Chen-Tsung ;Kuo, Tien-ChuanChu, Chung-HueiThe FORMOSA Satellite Series No. 3/Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere and Climate (FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC) spacecraft constellation consisting of six low-earth-orbiting satellites is the world's first operational Global Positioning System (GPS) radio occultation mission. The mission has been jointly developed by the National Space Organization of Taiwan and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research of the U.S. in collaboration with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA, and the Naval Research Laboratory for three onboard payloads, including a GPS Occultation Receiver, a triband beacon, and a tiny ionospheric photometer. The FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC mission was successfully launched from Vandenberg into the same orbit plane of the designated 516-km circular parking orbit altitude on April 15, 2006. After the six satellites completed the in-orbit checkout activities, the mission was started immediately at the parking orbit for in-orbit checkout, calibration, and experiment of three onboard payloads. Individual spacecraft thrust burns for orbit raising were performed to begin the constellation deployment of the satellites into six separate orbit planes. All six FORMOSA717-3/COSMIC satellites are maintained in a good state of health except spacecraft flight model no. 2, which has had power shortages. Five out of the six satellites had reached their final mission orbits of 800 km as of November 2007. This paper provides an overview of the constellation spacecraft design, constellation mission operations, constellation deployment timeline evolution, associated spacecraft mass property and moment of inertia results, orbit-raising challenges, and lessons learned during the orbit-raising operations.
