Item type:Item, Lithium salt doped conjugated polymers as electron transporting materials for highly efficient blue polymer light-emitting diodes(2008-12-15) ;Huang, Fei ;Shih, Ping-I ;Liu, Michelle S. ;Shu, Ching-FongJen, Alex K. -Y.Highly efficient blue polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) are fabricated using a conjugated polymer, poly[9,9-bis(2-(2-(2-diethanol-amino-ethoxy) ethoxy) ethyl) fluorene-alt-4, 4(')-phenylether] as an electron transporting layer (ETL). It was found that the performance of these blue-emitting devices could be greatly improved if the ETL was doped with LiF or Li(2)CO(3) salts. A bis[(4,6-di-fluorophenyl)-pyridinato-N, C(2)] (picolinate) Ir(III) (FIrpic) complex based blue phosphorescent PLED exhibited a maximum luminance efficiency of 20.3 cd/A with a luminance of 1600 cd/m(2) at the current density of 7.9 mA/cm(2) and drive voltage of 8.0 V.Item type:Item, Functional Nanoparticle-Based Proteomic Strategies for Characterization of Pathogenic Bacteria(2008-12-15) ;Chen, Wei-Jen ;Tsai, Pei-Jane ;Chen, Yu-Chie ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryAlthough matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI MS) can be employed to rapidly characterize pathogenic bacteria, bacterial cultures are generally required to obtain sufficient quantities of the bacterial cells prior to MALDI MS analysis. If this time-consuming step could be eliminated, the length of time required for identification of bacterial strains would be greatly reduced. In this paper, we propose an effective means of rapidly identifying bacteria-one that does not require bacterial culturing-using functional nanoparticle-based proteomic strategies that are characterized by extremely short analysis time. In this approach, we used titania-coated magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe(3)O(4)@TiO(2) NPs) as affinity probes to concentrate the target bacteria. The magnetic properties of the Fe(3)O(4)@TiO(2) NPs allow the conjugated target species to be rapidly isolated from the sample solutions under a magnetic field. Taking advantage of the absorption of the magnetic Fe(3)O(4) NPs in the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum, we performed the tryptic digestion of the captured bacteria under microwave heating for only 1-1.5 min prior to MALDI MS analysis. We identified the resulting biomarker ions by combining their MS/MS analysis results with protein database searches. Using this technique, we identified potential biomarker ions representing five Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli O157:H7, uropathogenic E. coli, Shigella sonnei, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Finally, we demonstrated the practical feasibility of using this approach to rapidly characterize bacteria in clinical samples.Item type:Item, Special Issue: Workshop on Scientific Computing in Electronic Engineering of the 2006 International Conference on Computational Science(2008-12-15) ;Li, Yiming ;Cao, Juncheng ;Dyshlovenko, Pavel ;Ezaki, TatsuyaFjeldly, Tor A.Item type:Item, Design optimization of a current mirror amplifier integrated circuit using a computational statistics technique(2008-12-15) ;Li, Yiming ;Li, Yih-Lang ;Yu, Shao-Ming ;資訊工程學系電信工程研究所In this work, we implement a Computational statistics technique for design optimization of integrated circuits (ICs). Integration of a well-known circuit simulation software and central composite design method enables us to construct a second-order response surface model (RSM) for each concerned constraint. After Construction of RSMs. we verify the adequacy and accuracy using the normal residual plots and their residual of squares. The constructed models are further employed for design optimization of current mirror amplifier ICs with 0.18 mu m CMOS devices. By considering the voltage gain, cut-off frequency, phase margin, common-mode rejection ratio and slew-rate, six designing parameters including the width and length of different transistors are selected and optimized to fit the targets. F.材料科學與工程學系With radiation from a synchrotron we measured the spectra of several small molecular species in the, solid phase at 10K, either pure -O(2), NO, CO(2), N(2)O, H(2)O and NH(3) - or, for NH3 also dispersed in Ar at, molar ratio 1/250, from the onset of absorption in the ultraviolet region until the limits of transmission by crystalline LiF or solid At. In a quantitative treatment of spectral data, we fitted the total absorption profile divided by wavenumber to Gaussian curves of minimal number, and made tentative assignments of electronic transitions and vibrational structure by comparison with spectra of gaseous species. These results illuminate the nature of electronic spectra of samples in solid phases in the vacuum ultraviolet region. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. K.Kohlrausch's stretched exponential law correlates well with the photoluminescence (PL) decay profiles of ZnSe1-xTex. As the Te concentration increases, the stretching exponent beta initially declines and then monotonically increases. This result can be understood using the hopping-transport and energy transfer model. The increase in the number of isoelectronic Te localized traps can reduce the PL decay rate and increase the linewidth, whereas the hybridization of the Te localized states with the valence-band edge states causes a reduction in both the lifetime and linewidth.Item type:Item, Time-resolved photoluminescence of isoelectronic traps in ZnSe(1-x)Te(x) semiconductor alloys(2008-12-15) ;Lin, Y. Based on biological inspired techniques, numerical deterministic methods, and C++ objective design, the UOF itself has significant potential to perform optimization operations on various problems. The UOF provides basic interlaces to define a general problem and generic solver, enabling these two different research fields to be bridged. The components of the UOF can be separated into problem and solver components. These two parts work independently allowing high-level code to be reused, and rapidly adapted to new problems and solvers. The UOF is customized to deal with several optimization problems. The first experiment involves a well-known discrete combinational problem, wihle the second one studies the robustness for the reverse modeling problem, which is in high demanded by device manufacturing companies. Additionally, experiments are undertaken to determine the capability of the proposed methods in both analog and digital circuit design automation. The final experiment designs antenna for rapidly growing wireless communication. Most experiments are categorized as simulation-based optimization tasks in the microelectronics industry. The results confirm that UOF has excellent flexibility and extensibility to solve these problems successfully. The developed open-source project is publicly available. (C) 2007 IMACS. From the data, two population decay times of the lowest electronic excited state were determined to be 200 fs and 1.8 ps, which can be explained by the assumption that the 2(1)A(g) state lies below the exciton 1(1)B(u) state together with the very low fluorescence quantum efficiency. The relaxation process after excitation by the pump pulse was studied to be 1(1)B(u) -> 1(1)B(u)* -> 2(1)A(g) -> 1(1)A(g). According to the experimental data, the location of the energy level was also discussed. The electronic dephasing time was determined to be 64 +/- 4 fs by utilizing the data in the 'negative time' range. The vibrational dephasing time constant of the most strongly coupled mode with frequency of 1466 cm(-1) was determined to be 520 +/- 20 fs from the widths of the corresponding Fourier power spectra. 1FItem type:Item, PHOSPHORS AND LIGHTING APPARATUS USING THE SAME(2008-12-18) ;CHEN, Teng-MingChou, Yi-ChunA phosphor has a chemical formula of: A(B1-mEum2+)PO4, wherein A is at least one of the group consisting of Li, Na and K, and B is at least one of the group consisting of Ca, Sr and Ba, and 0.0001≦m≦0.8.Item type:Item, Combined immunogene therapy of IL-6 and IL-15 enhances anti-tumor activity through augmented NK cytotoxicity(2008-12-18) ;Lin, Ching-Yi ;Chuang, Tien-Fu ;Liao, Kuang-Wen ;Huang, Yi-JunPai, Chien-ChunMany tumors evade host immunity by lowering expression of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. Theoretically, low MHC expression should activate natural killer (NK) cells and in some cases suppress tumor growth; nevertheless, some tumors also produce high concentrations of immunosuppressive cytokines, such as transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta, to inhibit the activity of NK cells. Using a canine transmissible venereal tumor (CTVT) model, we have previously demonstrated that IL-6 is a strong antagonist for TGF-beta. Herein, we found that IL-6 alone was unable to significantly promote TGF-beta-inhibited NK activities. Conversely, IL-15 alone strongly promoted NK activities; however, NK activities were inhibited to baseline levels following the addition of TGF-beta. Therefore, a new strategy using combined immunogene therapy of both IL-6 and IL-15 mediated by electroporation was used in this study. This combined IL-6 and IL-15 treatment effectively relieved the inhibitory effect of TGF-beta and activated NK cell cytotoxicity of lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells. Similarly, in isolated DX5(+) NK cells, only IL-6 and IL-15 in combination significantly overcame the inhibitory effect of TGF-beta and promoted NK cytotoxicity. The group of BALB/c mice injected with plasmids with IL-6 and IL-15 genes (pIL-6/pIL-15) had the highest percentages of DX5(+) NK cells as compared with either the pIL-6 or pIL-15 groups. Further, in SCID mice inoculated with CTVT, electroporation-mediated delivery of pIL-6/pIL-15 was significantly more efficient in suppressing both tumor establishment and tumor growth as compared with pIL-6 or pIL-15 inoculation alone. In addition, the anti-asialo GM-1 antibody abolished NK activities in SCID mice and resulted in outgrowth of the tumors. Together, these results suggest that the TGF-beta-associated inhibition of NK cytotoxicity cannot be adequately restored by simply antagonizing TGF-beta with IL-6: the co-existence of NK activating factors such as IL-15 is also important in restoring TGF-beta-inhibited cytotoxicity. This study highlights the therapeutic potential of the pIL-6/pIL-15 combination by inhibiting TGF-beta activity and enhancing NK cytotoxicity. (c) 2008 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. H. ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryThe purpose of this paper is to propose a theoretical approach, which can evaluate anharmonic effects on the rate constants within the transition state theory. In treating unimolecular reactions under collision-free conditions by using the RRKM theory, we make use of the inverse Laplace transformation of the partition functions to obtain both the total number of states for the activated complex and density of states for the reactant with the Morse oscillator potential. To demonstrate the applications of our theoretical approach, we choose some model systems and a real reaction as examples.Item type:Item, Item type:Item, Item type:Item,
