課程首頁本課程是由交通大學新文藝復興閱讀計畫提供。 96 年 8 月當各大學紛紛摩拳擦掌準備迎接新生的同時，交通大學校長吳重雨則因為一則來自於七月份泰晤士報，有關於英國首相布朗公布其夏日讀書清單的新聞中，看到了他對知識的尊重。在這同時，吳重雨校長也思考著，要如何為學生準備追求知識的環境和激發他們對知識的尊重與喜愛。台積電張忠謀董事長曾陳述他 18 歲進入哈佛那一年，博覽文史哲理工經典群籍，至此奠定了他求知的基礎，並借海明威名言，將其改為「哈佛這一年為人生可帶走的盛宴。」吳重雨校長以張董事長的學習為借鏡，認為學生固然能藉由自我閱讀的方式學習到豐沛的知識，但透過名人、大師親臨現場地介紹經典書籍，更能加深學子們對於書籍的認識與興趣，這也是「新文藝復興閱讀計劃」 ( 以下簡稱 : 「經典名著選讀」 ) 活動展開籌劃的緣由。於是，吳重雨校長便積極敦請「交大通識教育委員會」，接手籌備本計劃的相關活動，而該中心也成為實際施行本計畫的策動、開課以及認證單位。至此，期許交大學子藉由閱讀、聽講來提昇人文素養、開拓視野的「新文藝復興閱讀計劃」，就此展開。
Electrocatalytic activity of Pt nanoparticles on a karst-like Ni thin film toward methanol oxidation in alkaline solutions

The study prepared rugged Ni thin films for the study on electrocatalytic methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) in alkaline solutions. The rugged Ni thin film has a karst-like morphology, which provides a large surface area for Pt nanoparticle loading by pulse electrodeposition. Cyclic voltammetry measurements showed that the Pt/karst-Ni electrode had a high electrocatalytic activity toward MOR and CO tolerance in the KOH electrolyte. Ni(OH)(2) formed on the Ni support during the potential scan can enhance CO tolerance of Pt nanoparticles via the bi-functional mechanism. The Langmuir-Hinshelwood and the Eley-Rideal mechanisms are used to elucidate the role of OH surface groups on the Ni support and OH- ions in the electrolyte, respectively, in the enhancement of the CO tolerance. XPS analysis indicates that negative charges transfer from the Ni support to Pt nanoparticles. The electronic interaction may modify adsorption properties of CO adspecies on the Pt catalyst; the modification allows easy CO electro-oxidation by OH species surrounding the Pt nanoparticles, either from the Ni support or from the alkaline solution. The synergistic effect of the bifunctional mechanism and the electronic interaction makes the Pt/karst-Ni structure a good catalytic electrode for MOR in the KOH solution. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. E(6) grand unified theory with three generations from heterotic string theory

We construct two more supersymmetric E(6) grand unified models with three generations within the framework of Z(12) asymmetric orbifold compactification of the heterotic string theory. Such an asymmetric orbifold is missing in the classification in the literature, which concludes that only one E(6) model is possible. In both of the new models, an adjoint Higgs field is obtained in virtue of the diagonal embedding method. This method mods out the three E(6) factors of an even self-dual momentum-lattice by a permutation symmetry. In order to realize the (E(6))(3) even self-dual lattice, we utilize the lattice engineering technique. Among the eight possible orbifold actions in our setup, two lead to new E(6) models. Though these models still share the unsatisfactory issues with the known one, our discovery raises hopes that excellent models that solve all the problems in the supersymmetric grand unified models will be found in this framework.

一種低功率動態序向控制多工器，係在原有之多工器旁邊再加一個序向電路。將原有2N-1個多工器之N條控制線經過該序向電路分析考量各個控制訊號之前後關係，以動態產生M條控制線於實際控制N至2N-1組之子多工器，且其關係係為N小於等於M，M小於等於2N-1(N≦M≦2N-1)，以致能將各子多工器之控制訊號予以獨立，而減少不必要之變換活動，使整體多工器之變換動作降到最低，沒有必要轉換之子多工器則不需動作，進而降低整體之功率損耗。
