This paper presents a direct Poisson solver based on an error minimized Chebyshev pseudospectral penalty formulation for problems defined on rectangular domains. In this study the penalty parameters are determined analytically such that the discrete L-2 error is minimized. Numerical experiments are conducted and the results show that the penalty scheme computes numerical solutions with better accuracy, compared to the traditional approach with boundary conditions enforced strongly. The present invention discloses a planar antenna including a substrate, a ground plane and a feed line. The ground plane is disposed on one side of the substrate. The ground plane includes a hollow portion. The feed line disposed on another side of the substrate and corresponding to the hollow portion for feeding a signal. The present invention also discloses a planar antenna including a substrate, a ground plane and a feed line. The ground plane is disposed on one side of the substrate. The ground plane includes a first hollow portion and a second hollow portion. The feed line is disposed on another side of the substrate and having a first branch feed portion and a second branch feed portion for feeding a signal, and the first branch feed portion and the second branch feed portion are aligned with the first hollow portion and the second hollow portion respectively.
Channel estimation technique for multi-carrier system

The present invention relates to a channel estimation technique for multi-carrier system which uses pilot signal to first obtain pilot subcarrier channel responses, then estimate the mean delay and the root-mean-square delay spread of the channel, and then uses interpolation to obtain the channel responses of arbitrary subcarriers. The present invention is able to perform channel estimation and to accurately estimate various channel delay parameters (such as the initial delay, the mean delay, and the root-mean-square delay spread) with very low quantity of pilot signal and with low computational complexity. In addition, the present invention has broad applicability, as it does not require the channel power-delay profile to be of certain specific types and it can operate in systems where pilot subcarriers have an irregular configuration.
Security optical data storage in Fourier holograms

We have proposed and demonstrated a holographic security storage system that is implemented with a shift multiplexing technique. The security function of this storage system is achieved by using a micro-diffuser (MD) for random phase encoding of the reference beams. The apparatus of random phase encoding in this system offers an additional and flexible function during the recording processes. The system can generate holographic security memory or nonsecurity holographic memory via using the MD or not. The storage capacity and the average signal-to-noise value of the security storage system are 16 bits/mu m(2) and 3.5, respectively. Lateral shifting selectivity in this holographic security storage system is theoretically analyzed and experimentally investigated. (C) 2012 Optical Society of America
Self-aware adaptive power control system and a method for determining the circuit state

The present invention provides a self-aware power control system and a method for determining the circuit state. The self-aware adaptive power control architecture comprises of a multi-mode power gating network, a current monitoring translator, a variable threshold comparator, a slack detector, and a bi-directional shift register. The multi-mode power gating network controls the amount of supply current and hence the circuit speed. The power gating network can be composed of either N-type MOSFETs for virtual ground insertion or P-type MOSFETs for virtual supply insertion. The number of MOSFETs in the multi-mode power gating network can be configured according to the supply range and step difference of the supply current. Then, by monitoring the current characteristics drained by target circuit, the circuit state can be determined. No delay matching circuit is required. Together with other peripherals, the supply current can be down controlled to a minimum acceptable level. The circuit will use up all available slack. The smaller current implies lower power consumption as well. Furthermore, the present invention is capable of self adaptation to frequency change. To summarize, the present invention can make the circuit consume least power under various frequency achieving best power efficiency.

本發明係揭示一種數位濾波器，其係裝設在一全數位鎖相迴路中，該數位濾波器係接收該全數位鎖相迴路中之一鎖相迴路控制器，所傳送之一震盪器控制碼，並計算出一平均值，使該鎖相迴路控制器可藉由該平均值而產生一另一震盪器控制碼，藉以控制並調整數位控制震盪器之一輸出端訊號保持在該平均值附近，進而持續的補償與該輸入端訊號間的相位差/頻率差，可進一步減少該輸入端訊號之抖動對該全數位鎖相迴路之影響，及有效的降低該輸出端訊號之抖動現象，且可保持對該輸入端訊號頻率及相位的追蹤及鎖定。
正交分頻多工（ＯＦＤＭ）通訊系統中之訊號同步方法

一種在正交分頻多工(OFDM)通訊系統中之訊號同步方法，其利用估測時，以求得具有最大訊號對干擾加雜訊比(maximum SINR)作為訊號同步的方法。由於符元時間偏移(STO)與載波頻偏(CFO)的情況產生，使得交互符號干擾(ISI)及載波間的干擾(ICI)產生訊號能量損失，本發明將訊號對干擾加雜訊比極大化以預估同步的誤差以修正訊號同步之問題。因此，本發明只需要接收頻率域資料而不需預先知道通道輪廓與傳輸之資料，如此可改進一般正交分頻多工系統中的傳輸效能。
Rationalization and Design of the Complementarity Determining Region Sequences in an Antibody-Antigen Recognition Interface

Protein-protein interactions are critical determinants in biological systems. Engineered proteins binding to specific areas on protein surfaces could lead to therapeutics or diagnostics for treating diseases in humans. But designing epitope-specific protein-protein interactions with computational atomistic interaction free energy remains a difficult challenge. Here we show that, with the antibody-VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) interaction as a model system, the experimentally observed amino acid preferences in the antibody-antigen interface can be rationalized with 3-dimensional distributions of interacting atoms derived from the database of protein structures. Machine learning models established on the rationalization can be generalized to design amino acid preferences in antibody-antigen interfaces, for which the experimental validations are tractable with current high throughput synthetic antibody display technologies. Leave-one-out cross validation on the benchmark system yielded the accuracy, precision, recall (sensitivity) and specificity of the overall binary predictions to be 0.69, 0.45, 0.63, and 0.71 respectively, and the overall Matthews correlation coefficient of the 20 amino acid types in the 24 interface CDR positions was 0.312. The structure-based computational antibody design methodology was further tested with other antibodies binding to VEGF. The results indicate that the methodology could provide alternatives to the current antibody technologies based on animal immune systems in engineering therapeutic and diagnostic antibodies against predetermined antigen epitopes.
