Optical modulating device with frequency multiplying technique for electrical signals

The present invention relates to an optical modulating device with frequency multiplying technique for electrical signals, which primary comprises a mixer, which generates a mixed data signal from a first electrical signal and a second electrical signal. The mixed data signal is then received by a first phase shift device to have its phase shifted and becomes a first shifted signal. The first electrical signal is further received by a second phase shift device to have its phase shifted and becomes a second shifted signal. The present invention further comprises an integrated electro-optic modulator (Mach-Zehnder modulator), which is used to receive an input optical signal, the mixed data signal, the first shifted signal, the second shifted signal and the first electrical signal mentioned above, the integrated electro-optic modulator will then modulates the input optical signal into a frequency multiplying output optical signal that carries the first electrical signal and the second electrical signal. The present invention can carry and transmit amplitude shift keying signals and vector modulation signals, thereby provides a more advanced optical communication transmission service.

A phase-locked loop frequency synthesizer and a loop locking method thereof are provided. The phase-locked loop frequency synthesizer includes a reference route sigma-delta modulator feedback circuit, a reference phase integration circuit coupled to the output end of the reference route sigma-delta modulator feedback circuit, a phase/frequency detector coupled to the output ends of the reference and feedback phase integration circuit, a loop filter coupled to the output end of the phase/frequency detector and the input end of the reference route sigma-delta modulator feedback circuit, an oscillator coupled to the output end of the loop filter, and a feedback phase integration circuit coupled to the output end of the oscillator and the input end of the phase/frequency detector. In the phase-locked loop frequency synthesizer, the oscillator generates corresponding frequency output signals which yield the advantages of resisting noise signals, enhancing resolution, and facilitating integration.
A wide-angle dual-band infrared perfect absorber based on metal-dielectric-metal split square-ring and square array

The optical properties of a dual-band plasmonic absorber are delineated numerically by employing a finite element method. Based on a metal-dielectric-metal scheme, the key structure consists of a lossless dielectric layer that is sandwiched by a silver split square-ring enclosing a silver square array and ground silver plane. The simulation results clearly show that near-perfect absorption efficiency can be realized for two absorption bands in the near-infrared wavelength range. The near-perfect absorption bands exhibit polarization insensitivity and wide-angle incidence. Notably, the absorption band is independently governed by the size of each part of the patterned films where the silver split square-ring determines the shorter wavelength band and the silver square determines the longer wavelength band, respectively. The repositioning of two near-perfect absorption peaks possesses a linear relationship that is related to the dimensions of the patterned silver layer. This allows for a flexible reconfigurability over the entire near-infrared regime.

課程首頁本課程是由交通大學新文藝復興閱讀計畫提供。 96 年 8 月當各大學紛紛摩拳擦掌準備迎接新生的同時，交通大學校長吳重雨則因為一則來自於七月份泰晤士報，有關於英國首相布朗公布其夏日讀書清單的新聞中，看到了他對知識的尊重。在這同時，吳重雨校長也思考著，要如何為學生準備追求知識的環境和激發他們對知識的尊重與喜愛。台積電張忠謀董事長曾陳述他 18 歲進入哈佛那一年，博覽文史哲理工經典群籍，至此奠定了他求知的基礎，並借海明威名言，將其改為「哈佛這一年為人生可帶走的盛宴。」吳重雨校長以張董事長的學習為借鏡，認為學生固然能藉由自我閱讀的方式學習到豐沛的知識，但透過名人、大師親臨現場地介紹經典書籍，更能加深學子們對於書籍的認識與興趣，這也是「新文藝復興閱讀計劃」 ( 以下簡稱 : 「經典名著選讀」 ) 活動展開籌劃的緣由。於是，吳重雨校長便積極敦請「交大通識教育委員會」，接手籌備本計劃的相關活動，而該中心也成為實際施行本計畫的策動、開課以及認證單位。至此，期許交大學子藉由閱讀、聽講來提昇人文素養、開拓視野的「新文藝復興閱讀計劃」，就此展開。

Junctionless N-channel transistor(s) and junctionless P-channel transistor(s) are formed on a semiconductor wafer, a conducting contact structure is used to connect the transistors to form a basic complementary logic gate(s) such as inverter, NAND, NOR, etc.

The present invention discloses a multimedia bookmark method and a system thereof. The method of the present invention comprises steps: providing a plurality of digital annotations for an information object; creating a bookmark containing an ordered set organized according to a time relativity, a file relativity or a user-defined attribute of the digital annotations; and presenting the bookmark and the information object corresponding to the bookmark. Thereby, the present invention provides complete, meaningful and multi-aspect bookmarks, enabling users to easily understand and conveniently use the annotations.
Unidirectional Growth of Microbumps on (111)-Oriented and Nanotwinned Copper

Highly oriented [111] Cu grains with densely packed nanotwins have been fabricated by direct-current electroplating with a high stirring rate. The [111]-oriented and nanotwinned Cu (nt-Cu) allow for the unidirectional growth of Cu6Sn5 intermetallics in the microbumps of three-dimensional integrated-circuit packaging; a uniform microstructure in a large number of microbumps of controlled orientation can be obtained. The high-density twin boundaries in the nt-Cu serve as vacancy sinks during the solid-state reaction between Pb-free solder and Cu and greatly reduce the formation of Kirkendall (or Frenkel) voids.

Intensities and profiles of vibronic spectra of the low-lying singlet excited states were investigated with anharmonic and harmonic Franck-Condon simulations for pyrimidine. The first-order anharmonic correction shows dynamic shift of spectra that is exactly same as difference of reorganization energy between ground and excited states. The first-order correction show intensity enhancement of absorption and intensity weakening of fluorescence for S-1 state, and dynamic shift is also significant. On the other hand, the first-order correction is negligible for S-2 state. The main spectral progressions are well described by totally symmetry modes v(6a), v(1) and v(12). One mode from non-total symmetry v(16a) contributes to the weak band at 16a(2) transition for S-1 state. Four ab initio methods were employed in simulation; CASSCF, CASPT2, DFT and TD-DFT, and coupled-cluster singles-doubles (CCSD) and the equation-of-motion (EOM-CCSD) methods. They all work well, but CASSCF method show the best agreement with experiment for the weak-band intensities. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
