Item type:Item, High-stability oxygen sensor based on amorphous zinc tin oxide thin film transistor(2012-06-25) ;Chen, Yu-Chun ;Chang, Ting-Chang ;Li, Hung-Wei ;Chung, Wan-FangWu, Chang-PeiThis research presents a sol-gel derived zinc tin oxide thin film transistor (TFT) as a high-stability oxygen sensor. Due to its high sensitivity, oxygen has been traditionally regarded as having a negative influence on the electrical characteristics of zinc-based TFTs; however, TFTs can also act as an oxygen sensor. After illumination with visible light in oxygen-rich ambient, a significant increase in drain current of nearly 10 4 times occurs with fixed gate and drain voltages. It is expected that an optimized method of illumination can help to reset the electrical characteristics or distinguish the on/off state of this reliable oxygen sensor. A strong variation of temperature-dependent photoluminescence peak energy was observed and attributed to the existence of the localized states. The degree of carrier localization in these defect-induced states was more prominent in the case of MQWs with the wider well width. In addition, the ultraviolet light emission efficiency revealed a 3-fold enhancement with increasing the well width from 1.6 nm to 7.3 nm, due to the strong carrier localization generated from the quantum-wire-like features formed by the intersection between basal stacking faults and quantum wells. The regrowth formed hexagonal sidewalls and pyramids on the nanopillars. The cathodoluminescence of MQWs blue shifts as the location moves from top to bottom on both the pillar sidewalls and pyramid facets, covering a spectral linewidth of about 100 nm. The MQWs on the pillar sidewalls have a higher InN fraction than those on the pyramid facets. The photoluminescent wavelength is stable over two orders of carrier density change due to the smaller quantum confined Stark effect on the nanopillar facets. (C) 2012 American Institute of Physics. This paper aims at developing a mathematical model for describing head distributions induced by pumping in a radial collector well near a stream in an unconfined aquifer. A low permeable streambed between the stream and the aquifer is considered. The first-order free surface equation is used to describe the movement of water table. A point-sink solution of the model is developed first by a general transform combining Fourier sine and cosine transforms and then by Fourier transform and Laplace transform. The transient solution of head distributions for different well types such as the horizontal well or radial collector well can be obtained by integrating the point-sink solution along the well. Based on Darcy's law and the developed solution, an equation for temporal stream depletion rate describing filtration from the stream is then obtained. The steady-state solutions for filtration can be obtained from the transient solution when neglecting the exponential term associated with time. It is found that steady-state filtration depends only on the ratio of streambed permeability over aquifer permeability. Steady-state filtration equals water extraction from a well when the ratio is larger than 10(-2). The streambed is regarded as completely impermeable when the ratio is less than 10(-7). Additionally, the lowest water table happens near the well before occurrence of filtration. The lowest water table moves landward and away from the well after filtration occurs. Here we show the first data-based evidence of dust primarily from non-East Asian sources even during March 2010 when a super dust storm from East Asia struck the western Pacific. Chemical characteristics of aerosol samples collected at a high-mountain site in Taiwan show variable inputs from eolian dust and biomass burning. From backward trajectory analyses, satellite observation and model simulation, dust origins can be traced to the Middle East and North Africa, suggesting an integrated source from the global dust belt. Our global model results demonstrate that dust deposition in the North Pacific is primarily contributed by non-East Asian sources with an eastward decrease along the Westerlies. Formation of the framework of aADT incorporating four lateral alkyl substituents was accomplished by a one-pot benzannulation via multiple Suzuki coupling. This newly designed 2,8-stannylated aADT monomer was copolymerized with a ditheniodiketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) unit and a bithiophene unit, respectively, to furnish an alternating donor-acceptor copolymer poly(anthradithiophene-alt-dithienyldiketopyrrolopyrrole) (PaADTDPP) and a thiophene-rich poly(anthradithiophene-alt-bithiophene) (PaADTT). PaADTT with crystalline nature achieved a high FET mobility of 7.9 x 10(-2) cm(-2) V-1 s(-1) with an on-off ratio of 1.1 x 10(7). The photovoltaic device based on the PaADTDPP:PC71BM (1:2.5, w/w) blend exhibited a V-oc, of 0.66 V, a J(sc) of 9.49 mA/cm(2), and a FF of 58.4%, delivering a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.66%. By adding 1.5 vol % 1-chloronaphthalene (CN) as a processing additive, the PCE can be improved to 4.24%. We demonstrated that these angular-shaped and alkylated aADT-based polymers have better organic photovoltaic (OPVs) and field-effect transistor (FETs) characteristics than the linear-shaped ADT-containing polymers.Item type:Item, PHOTOELECTRIC DEVICES HAVING INHOMOGENEOUS POLARIZATION SELECTIVITY AND THE MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF(2012-06-28) ;Tien Chung-Hao ;Lan Tzu-HsiangLi Jie-EnThe present invention provides an optical device having inhomogeneous polarization selectivity. The aim of this study is to identify some membrane-bound protein(s) associated with migration and invasion in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Methods: We classified four NSCLC cell lines into high and low migration/invasion groups by Transwell and Matrigel assays. Using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), we identified 10 membrane-associated proteins being significantly overexpressed in the high migration/invasion group. The expression of the target protein in the four NSCLC cell lines was then confirmed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), western blot and immunostaining. RNA interference technique was applied to observe the influence of the target protein on migration and invasion. Gelatin zymography was also performed to evaluate the activities of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9. Expression condition of the target protein on surgical specimens was further examined by immunohistochemical staining and the clinicopathologic data were analyzed. Results: We identified a mitochondria-bound protein cytochrome c oxidase subunit Va (COX Va) because of its abundant presence found exclusively in tumorous areas. We also demonstrated that migration and invasion of NSCLC cells decreased substantially after knocking down COX Va by siRNA. Meanwhile, we found a positive correlation between COX Va expression, Bcl-2 expression and activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in NSCLC cells. Immunohistochemical staining of surgically resected lung adenocarcinomas in 250 consecutive patients revealed that strong COX Va expression was found in 54.8% (137/250) of patients and correlated positively with the status of lymph node metastasis (P = 0.032). Furthermore, strong COX Va expression was associated with the presence of distant metastasis (P = 0.033). Conclusions: Our current study showed that COX Va may play a role in migration and invasion of NSCLC cells and can be used as a biomarker to predict aggressiveness of NSCLC.Item type:Item, Study of the reactive excited-state dynamics of delipidated bacteriorhodopsin upon surfactant treatments(2012-06-29) ;Cheng, Chi-Wen ;Lee, Yuan-Pern ;Chu, Li-Kang ;應用化學系應用化學系分子科學碩博班The dynamics of the reactive excited-state of bacteriorhodopsin treated with various surfactants have been investigated through the measurement of pump-probe absorption spectra. Upon excitation of bR at 570 nm in the presence of ionic surfactants CTAB and SDS, the lifetime of the reactive excited-state of the all-trans protonated Schiff base, probed at 460 nm, was observed to increase up to 20%, whereas an insignificant change was observed upon addition of neutral surfactant C6E2. Measurements of steady-state absorption spectra, fluorescence, and circular dichroism indicated that the bR suspensions retain their trimeric configuration with partial delipidation. This removal of lipids causes a structural alteration and the varied excited-state dynamics. (C) 2012 Elsevier B. V. The proposed method, which is based on the fundamentals of integer programming and hierarchical cluster analysis methods, determines the corresponding locations, number and scope of service areas and facilities in the proposed GLs network. Therein, a multi-objective planning model is formulated that systematically minimizes network configuration cost and maximizes both operational profit and the customer satisfaction rate. Particularly, potential risk-oriented costs, such as macro-environmental-risk and micro-operational-risk costs are considered in the proposed model. Numerical results indicate that the overall system performance can be improved by up to 11.52% using the proposed approach. (C) 2011 Elsevier Inc. The OC concentrations of the backup quartz filters ranged from 3.56 to 11.38 mu g m(-3) with the average of 6.70 mu g m(-3) for PM2.5, and from 2.62 to 7.27 mu g m(-3) With the average of 4.64 mu g m(-3) for PM0.1. The most abundant species on the backup quartz filters was OC1 for both PM2.5 and PM0.1, accounting for 56.9% and 41.1% of the measured organic carbon, respectively. Most of EC fractions (EC1-EC3) on the backup filters for PM2.5 and PM0.1 were below the minimum detection limit. Therefore, only OC contributed to positive artifacts distinctly with the average percentage of 21.7% and 48.0% for PM2.5 and PM0.1, respectively. The artifacts for four organic carbon fractions ranged from 36.1% (OC1) to 4.4% (OC4) for PM2.5 and from 68.0% (OC1) to 31.9% (OC4) for PM0.1]. The uncorrected OC/EC ratios on the front quartz filters were higher by as much as 30% and 107% for PM2.5 and PM0.1 than those corrected for positive organic artifacts, respectively. That is, much higher percentage of positive artifacts was found for PM0.1 DC fractions on the front filters. The comparison of the present and previous studies shows that OC positive artifacts vary widely among various PM fractions and sampling sites attributing to many factors that are worth investigating in the future. For the proper design of source/drain structure of ZnO/Ti/Pt thin films, the grains can be laterally grown from the under-cut ZnO beneath the Ti/Pt layer. Consequently, the single one vertical grain boundary perpendicular to the current flow will be produced in the channel region as the grown grains from the source/drain both sides are impinged. As compared with the conventional sputtered ZnO BG-TFTs, the proposed location-controlled hydrothermal ZnO BG-TFTs (W/L = 250 mu m/10 mu m) demonstrated the higher field-effect mobility of 6.09 cm(2)/V.s, lower threshold voltage of 3.67 V, higher on/off current ratio above 10(6), and superior current drivability, reflecting the high-quality ZnO thin films with less grain boundary effect in the channel region.Item type:Item, 編案-亞洲現代思想計畫(深河出版有限公司, 2012-07-01)陳光興Item type:Item, Using influence strategies to advance supplier delivery flexibility: The moderating roles of trust and shared vision(2012-07-01) ;Chang, Kuo-Hsiung ;Huang, Hsu-Feng ;管理科學系Department of Management ScienceThis study explores trust and shared vision moderate the relationship between the manufacturer's influence strategies and supplier delivery flexibility. The major components of this study are based on reviews of marketing research that focus on influence strategies and literature regarding supply chain flexibility. The results show that the request strategy has a negative effect on supplier delivery flexibility. The model predicts that trust and shared vision have an asymmetrical effect across recommendations, information exchange, and promises influence strategies. When the relationship contains a highly shared vision, a manufacturer's use of the recommendation influence strongly promotes supplier delivery flexibility, whereas the use of a promise strategy depresses supplier delivery flexibility. In contrast, an information exchange strategy will have a negative effect, but the promise strategy will have a positive effect on supplier delivery flexibility when trust is high. This paper contributes to guidelines for management on how to align their suppliers for delivery flexibility to respond quickly to customer demands. (C) 2011 Elsevier Inc.
