Sensitivities of the IceCube DeepCore detector to signatures of low-mass dark matter in the Galactic halo

We discuss the event rate in the DeepCore array due to neutrino flux produced by annihilations and decays of Galactic dark matter. This event rate is calculated with a 10 GeV threshold energy, which is smaller than the threshold energy taken in previous works. Taking into account the background event rate due to the atmospheric neutrino flux, we evaluate the sensitivity of the DeepCore array for probing the dark matter annihilation cross section and decay time. The sensitivity studies include the annihilation modes chi chi -> b (b) over bar, tau(+)tau(-), mu(+)mu(-), and nu(nu) over bar, and decay modes chi -> b (b) over bar, tau(+)tau(-), mu(+)mu(-), and nu(nu) over bar. We compare our results with corresponding constraints derived from observations of WMAP, ACT, and Fermi-LAT. DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.87.025003

An application circuit and an operation method of a semiconductor device are provided. A leakage current among a control gate diffusion layer, a source diffusion layer and a drain is reduced by adjusting biases applied on a double well region, so as to reduce the product cost and improve the accuracy of a battery-less electronic timer that uses the semiconductor device.

The present invention related to a method for manufacturing a semiconductor, comprising steps of: providing a growing substrate; forming on the growing substrate to have plural grooves; forming a semiconductor element layer on the growing substrate; and changing the temperature of the growing substrate and the semiconductor element layer so as to separate the semiconductor element layer from the growing substrate.

This investigation concerns the hyper-exponential jump-diffusion processes. Following the exposition of the two-sided exit problem by Kyprianou [10] and Asmussen and Albrecher [1], this study investigates first passage functionals for these processes. The corresponding boundary value problems are solved to obtain an explicit formula for the first passage functionals.

This article describes an approach toward improving the characteristics of a photopolymer for holographic data storage application. The maximum diffraction efficiency (?max) and dynamic range (M#) of 9,10-phenanthrenequinone (PQ)-doped poly(methyl methacrylate; PMMA) both improved significantly after co-doping with one of three nitroanilinesN,N-dimethyl-4-nitroaniline (DMNA), N-methyl-4-nitroaniline (MNA), and 4-nitroaniline (pNA). In particular, the value of ?max increased from 38% for the PMMA/PQ system to 72% for the PMMA/PQ/DMNA system (a 1.89-fold improvement) and the value of M# increased accordingly from 2.7 to 7.3 (a 2.70-fold improvement). Thus, the holographic data storage characteristics of PMMA/PQ photopolymers can be improved through co-doping with nitroaniline compounds. We also investigated the mechanism of the nitroaniline-induced improvement in optical storage performance using proton nuclear magnetic resonance and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
