Item type:Item, Low power consumption resistance random access memory with Pt/InOx/TiN structure(2013-09-02) ;Yang, Jyun-Bao ;Chang, Ting-Chang ;Huang, Jheng-Jie ;Chen, Yu-TingTseng, Hsueh-ChihIn this study, the resistance switching characteristics of a resistive random access memory device with Pt/InOx/TiN structure is investigated. Unstable bipolar switching behavior is observed during the initial switching cycle, which then stabilizes after several switching cycles. Analyses indicate that the current conduction mechanism in the resistance state is dominated by Ohmic conduction. The decrease in electrical conductance can be attributed to the reduction of the cross-sectional area of the conduction path. Furthermore, the device exhibits low operation voltage and power consumption. F. ;物理研究所Institute of PhysicsA simple method is shown to demonstrate that the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity can be generalized to the Weyl-invariant models. We will also show explicitly that Weyl symmetry is preserved step by step throughout the 5D Kaluza-Klein dimensional-reduction process. As a result, the dimensional reduced model will be shown to be a theory with two scalar fields. When a symmetry-breaking potential is introduced, a strong constraint will effectively turn off one of the scalar fields. For heuristic reasons, the stability properties of the power-law solution associated with the resulting one-scalar-field model will be presented explicitly. In particular, all stable modes can be solved explicitly as functions of the free parameter associated with the symmetry-breaking potential.Item type:Item, Electrostatic discharge protection circuit(2013-09-03) ;Ker Ming-Dou ;Lin Chun-YuWang Chang-TzuAn electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit, suitable for an input stage circuit including a first N channel metal oxide semiconductor (NMOS) transistor, is provided. The aim of the work is to analyze the clinical spectrum and to evaluate the prevalence of various etiologies in children, who present to the emergency department (ED) with rhabdomyolysis. Methods: During a 6-year study period, we retrospectively analyzed the medical charts of patients, aged 18 years or younger, with a definite diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis and serum creatinine phosphokinase (CK) levels greater than 1000IU/L. We analyzed the clinical spectrum and evaluated the potential risk factors of acute renal failure (ARF). Results: Thirty-seven patients (mean age = 10.2 +/- 5.5 years), including 26 males and 11 females, were enrolled in the study. Two of the most common presented symptoms in these 37 patients were muscle pain and muscle weakness (83.8% and 73%, respectively). Dark urine was reported in only 5.4% of the patients. The leading cause of rhabdomyolysis in the 0- to 9-year age group was presumed infection, and the leading cause in the 10- to 18-year age group was trauma and exercise. The incidence of ARF associated with rhabdomyolysis was 8.1 % and no child needed for renal replacement therapy (RRT). We did not identify any reliable predictors of ARF or need for RRT. Conclusions: The classic triad of symptoms of rhabdomyolysis includes myalgia, weakness and dark urine are not always presented in children. The cause of rhabdomyolysis in younger age is different from that of teenager group. However, the prognosis of rhabdomyolysis was good with appropriate management.Item type:Item, Load-adaptive bioelectric current stimulator(2013-09-03) ;Ker Ming-Dou ;Chen Wei-LingLin Chun-YuThe disclosure relates to a load-adaptive bioelectrical current stimulator, which comprises a current output module, an adaptation module and a control module. The current output module generates a stimulus current to an electrode. The adaptation module detects the electrical status of the stimulus current passing through the electrode and generates a feedback signal to the control module. According to the feedback signal, the control module controls the current output module to stabilize the output status of the stimulus current adaptively. Thereby, the load-adaptive bioelectrical current stimulator can use the feedback control mechanism to regulate the value of the stimulus current to adapt to variation of load impedance.Item type:Item, SCMCRYS: Predicting Protein Crystallization Using an Ensemble Scoring Card Method with Estimating Propensity Scores of P-Collocated Amino Acid Pairs(2013-09-03) ;Charoenkwan, Phasit ;Shoombuatong, Watshara ;Lee, Hua-Chin ;Chaijaruwanich, JeerayutHuang, Hui-LingExisting methods for predicting protein crystallization obtain high accuracy using various types of complemented features and complex ensemble classifiers, such as support vector machine (SVM) and Random Forest classifiers. It is desirable to develop a simple and easily interpretable prediction method with informative sequence features to provide insights into protein crystallization. This study proposes an ensemble method, SCMCRYS, to predict protein crystallization, for which each classifier is built by using a scoring card method (SCM) with estimating propensity scores of p-collocated amino acid (AA) pairs (p = 0 for a dipeptide). The SCM classifier determines the crystallization of a sequence according to a weighted-sum score. The weights are the composition of the p-collocated AA pairs, and the propensity scores of these AA pairs are estimated using a statistic with optimization approach. SCMCRYS predicts the crystallization using a simple voting method from a number of SCM classifiers. The experimental results show that the single SCM classifier utilizing dipeptide composition with accuracy of 73.90% is comparable to the best previously-developed SVM-based classifier, SVM_POLY (74.6%), and our proposed SVM-based classifier utilizing the same dipeptide composition (77.55%). The SCMCRYS method with accuracy of 76.1% is comparable to the state-of-the-art ensemble methods PPCpred (76.8%) and RFCRYS (80.0%), which used the SVM and Random Forest classifiers, respectively. This study also investigates mutagenesis analysis based on SCM and the result reveals the hypothesis that the mutagenesis of surface residues Ala and Cys has large and small probabilities of enhancing protein crystallizability considering the estimated scores of crystallizability and solubility, melting point, molecular weight and conformational entropy of amino acids in a generalized condition. The propensity scores of amino acids and dipeptides for estimating the protein crystallizability can aid biologists in designing mutation of surface residues to enhance protein crystallizability. F. ;物理研究所Institute of PhysicsWe study the cosmological implications of a ghost-free nonlinear massive gravity theory with a cosmological constant. We find that the massive terms serve as an effective cosmological constant for a large class of metric spaces with a compatible fiducial metric associated with the massive terms. A specific solution is solved as an example for this model under the Bianchi type I space and a compatible Bianchi type I fiducial metric. A stability analysis indicates that this set of solutions tends to be stable. Nonetheless, the anisotropically expanding solution will, in general, turn unstable when an additional scalar field with negative kinetic energy is introduced.Item type:Item, LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE WITH GRADED COMPOSITION HOLE TUNNELING LAYER(2013-09-05) ;WANG Chao-HsunKuo Hao-ChungA light emitting device with graded composition hole tunneling layer is provided. Atomic force microscopy revealed that the colloidal surface exhibited a deposition time-dependent nanotopographical evolution, wherein two different nanotopographic textures indexed by 'kurtosis' (R-kur) value were easily designed, which were termed as 'sharp' (i.e. high peak-to-valley texture) surface and 'flat' (i.e. low peak-to-valley texture) surface. Cellular behaviour of VSMCs and HUVECs on both surfaces demonstrated topographically dependent morphogenesis, adherent responses and biochemical properties in comparison with bare stainless steel. The formation of a biofunctionalized surface upon a facile colloidal chitosan deposition envisions the potential application towards numerous biomedical devices, and this is especially promising for cardiovascular stents wherein a new surface with optimized texture can be designed and is expected to create an advantageous environment to stimulate HUVEC growth for improved healing performance.Item type:Item, Automated Solution-Phase Synthesis of Oligosaccharides via Iterative Electrochemical Assembly of Thioglycosides(2013-09-06) ;Nokami, Toshiki ;Hayashi, Ryutaro ;Saigusa, Yoshihiro ;Shimizu, AkihiroLiu, Chih-YuehA new iterative one-pot sequential method for the solution-phase synthesis of oligosaccharides has been devised on the basis of the electrochemical oxidation of a propagating thioglycoside terminus to generate the corresponding triflate, followed by the reaction with a thioglycoside building block having a free hydroxyl group. By using a 140 fs Ti:Sapphire laser in an ultrafast optical Kerr gate (OKG), we demonstrate LIBS sampling with a sub-ps time resolution (0.8 +/- 0.08 ps) in a 14 ns window. The width of the gating window in this system was as narrow as 0.8 ps, owing to the inclusion of a carbon disulfide (CS2) cell, which has a fast response and a large nonlinear coefficient. Furthermore, when using a 100 ps pulsed Nd:YAG laser and a fast photomultiplier tube (PMT) we demonstrate a LIBS system with a nanosecond time resolution (2.20 +/- 0.08 ns) in a microsecond window. With this sort of temporal resolution, a non-continuous decay in the Al signal could be observed. After 50 ns decay of the first peak, the second peak at 230 ns is started to perform. Experimental results with such short temporal windows in LIBS, in both nanosecond and microsecond ranges, are important for fast temporal evolution measurements and observations of early continuum emission in materials. Specifically, the two-tiered architecture enables a colorless transceiver to be shared by a group of ONUs, resulting in drastic reduction of the system cost. For achieving colorlessness via reusing downstream light sources, we discover the residual power of downstream signal unexpectedly springs back after transmissions, causing severe interference to the upstream signal, and thus limiting the data rate of the upstream signal. We devise a method of adopting a common dispersion compensation module at OLT to reduce the residual power over all wavelengths. Experimental results show that, with an improvement of upstream signal's SNR up to 10dB, the system successfully achieves 20-Gb/s bidirectional OFDM-signal transmissions on the same wavelength over a 20-km SMF. When both eyes separately receive the bright region and the dark region of an image, interocular delay would appear to generate a stereo perception. With the optical simulation software, LightTools 7.3.0, to simulate the brightness change, the light with lower brightness appears on the 0 degrees region and the light with the highest brightness appears on the +/- 10 degrees region. The optimal viewing distance of 25cm could accurately deliver the image with shading parallax to both eyes. The actual measurement of brightness presents the shading distribution, achieving the condition of binocular retinal illumination, and the angle of visibility appears on the +/- 50 degrees region, causing interocular delay so that the viewer generates the stereo perception. Ramakrishnam ;Raghunath, P. ;Lin, Ming-Chang ;Lin, Hong-Cheu材料科學與工程學系To investigate the supramolecular interactions of the mechanically interlocked rotaxane pendants and conjugated polymer backbones, four analogous polymers were systematically synthesized by copolymerization of a 9-alkylidene-9H-fluorene monomer with various monomers, which contained a diketopyrrolopyrrole unit tethered with a dumbbell unit, a metalated [2]rotaxane, a demetalated orthogonal H-bonded [2]rotaxane, and a simple alkyl chain, to furnish P1, P2, P3, and P4, respectively. Prevailing H-1 NMR and UV-vis to NIR titration profiles indicated that the novel polyrotaxane P3 showed a sensitive and reversible acid base molecular switch capability via supramolecular interactions in contrast to the other polymers (P1, P2, and P4). Compared with the other polymers, P3 possessed a narrower bandgap, which was also confirmed by the computational study. Prominently, the monitoring of a controllable nanoself-assembly process of P3 was obtained by reversible acid base molecular switch approaches. The orthogonal H-bonded pendant [2]rotaxane unit and the steric demand of P3 judiciously allowed to morph into a hierarchical nanostructure via interconvertible H-bonds, anion-pi and pi-pi stackings, and hydrophobic interactions.
