Item type:Item, 交大e-News第168期(2014-08-05) ;Secretariat國立交通大學秘書室Item type:Item, Exploring Metabolic Pathways in Vivo by a Combined Approach of Mixed Stable Isotope-Labeled Raman Microspectroscopy and Multivariate Curve Resolution Analysis(2014-08-05) ;Noothalapati, Hemanth ;Shigeto, Shinsuke ;應用化學系 ;應用化學系分子科學碩博班Department of Applied ChemistryUnderstanding cellular metabolism is a major challenge in current systems biology and has triggered extensive metabolomics research, which in most cases involves destructive analysis. However, the information obtainable only in a nondestructive manner will be required for accurately mapping the global structure of the organism's metabolic network at a given instant. Here we report that metabolic pathways can be explored in vivo by mixed stable isotope-labeled Raman microspectroscopy in conjunction with multivariate curve resolution analysis. As a model system, we studied ergosterol biosynthesis in single living fission yeast cells grown in mixtures of normal and C-13-labeled glucose as the sole carbon source. The multivariate spectral data analysis of space-resolved Raman spectra revealed the intrinsic spectra and relative abundances of all isotopomers of ergosterol whose carbon atoms in the 5,7-diene moiety of the sterol skeleton are either partly or fully substituted with C-13. Our approach is applicable to other metabolites and will earn a place in the toolbox of metabolomic analysis.Item type:Item, Structure of high electron mobility transistor growth on Si substrate and the method thereof(2014-08-05) ;Yi Chang Edward ;Tang Shih-HsuanLin Yueh-ChinA structure of high electron mobility transistor growth on Si substrate and the method thereof, in particular used for the semiconductor device manufacturing in the semiconductor industry. The UHVCVD system was used in the related invention to grow a Ge film on Si substrate then grow the high electron mobility transistor on the Ge film for the reduction of buffer layer thickness and cost. The function of the Ge film is preventing the formation of silicon oxide when growing III-V MHEMT structure in MOCVD system on Si substrate. The reason of using MHEMT in the invention is that the metamorphic buffer layer in MHEMT structure could block the penetration of dislocation which is formed because of the very large lattice mismatch (4.2%) between Ge and Si substrate.Item type:Item, Exploring Metabolic Pathways in Vivo by a Combined Approach of Mixed Stable Isotope-Labeled Raman Microspectroscopy and Multivariate Curve Resolution Analysis(2014-08-05) ;Noothalapati, Hemanth ;Shigeto, Shinsuke ;應用化學系 ;應用化學系分子科學碩博班Department of Applied ChemistryUnderstanding cellular metabolism is a major challenge in current systems biology and has triggered extensive metabolomics research, which in most cases involves destructive analysis. Increased red cell distribution width (RDW) is a strong independent predictor for adverse outcomes in ACS. The common underlying mechanism for anemia and increased RDW value is iron deficiency. It is not clear whether serum iron deficiency without anemia affects left ventricular (LV) performance after primary angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We investigated the prognostic value of serum iron concentration on LV ejection fraction (EF) at 6 months and its relationship to thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) risk score in post MI patients. Methods: We recruited 55 patients who were scheduled to undergo primary coronary balloon angioplasty after AM I and 54 age- and sex-matched volunteers. Serum iron concentration and interleukin-6 levels were measured before primary angioplasty. LVEF was measured by echocardiography at baseline and after 6 months. TIMI risk score was calculated for risk stratification. Results: Serum iron concentration was significantly lower in those in whom LVEF had not improved >= 10% from baseline (52.7 +/- 24.1 versus 80.8 +/- 50.8 mu g/dl, P = 0.016) regardless of hemoglobin level, and was significantly lower in the AMI group than in the control group (62.5 +/- 37.7 versus 103.0 +/- 38.1 mu g/dl, P<0.001). Trend analysis revealed that serum iron concentration decreased as TIMI risk score increased (P = 0.002). In addition, lower serum iron concentrations were associated with higher levels of inflammatory markers. Multiple linear regression showed that baseline serum iron concentration can predict LV systolic function 6 months after primary angioplasty for AMI even after adjusting for traditional prognostic factors. Conclusion: Hypoferremia is not only a marker of inflammation but also a potential prognostic factor for LV systolic function after revascularization therapy for AMI, and may be a novel biomarker for therapeutic intervention.Item type:Item, Serum Iron Concentration, but Not Hemoglobin, Correlates with TIMI Risk Score and 6-Month Left Ventricular Performance after Primary Angioplasty for Acute Myocardial Infarction(2014-08-06) ;Huang, Ching-Hui ;Chang, Chia-Chu ;Kuo, Chen-Ling ;Huang, Ching-ShanChiu, Tzai-WenObjective: Anemia is associated with high mortality and poor prognosis after acute coronary syndrome (A(S). A room temperature ionic liquid, known as a deep eutectic solvent (DES), was used as the solvent to dissolve ZnO powders. Upon the introduction of the ZnO-containing DES into a bad solvent which shows no solvation to ZnO, ZnO was precipitated and grown due to the dramatic decrease of solubility. By adding Cu2+ ions to the bad solvent, the growth of ZnO from the antisolvent process was accompanied by Cu2+ introduction, resulting in the formation of Cu2+-doped ZnO nanocrystals. The as-prepared Cu2+-doped ZnO showed an additional absorption band in the visible range (400-800 nm), which conduced to an improvement in the overall photon harvesting efficiency. Time-resolved photoluminescence spectra, together with the photovoltage information, suggested that the doped Cu2+ may otherwise trap photoexcited electrons during the charge transfer process, inevitably depressing the photoconversion efficiency. The photoactivity of Cu2+-doped ZnO nanocrystals for photoelectrochemical water oxidation was effectively enhanced in the visible region, which achieved the highest at 2.0 at% of Cu2+. A further increase in the Cu2+ concentration however led to a decrease in the photocatalytic performance, which was ascribed to the significant carrier trapping caused by the increased states given by excessive Cu2+. The photocurrent action spectra illustrated that the enhanced photoactivity of the Cu2+-doped ZnO nanocrystals was mainly due to the improved visible photon harvesting achieved by Cu2+ doping. These results may facilitate the use of transition metal ion-doped ZnO in other photoconversion applications, such as ZnO based dye-sensitized solar cells and magnetism-assisted photocatalytic systems.Item type:Item, A facile green antisolvent approach to Cu2+-doped ZnO nanocrystals with visible-light-responsive photoactivities(2014-08-07) ;Lu, Yi-Hsuan ;Lin, Wei-Hao ;Yang, Chao-Yao ;Chiu, Yi-HsuanPu, Ying-ChihAn environmentally benign antisolvent method has been developed to prepare Cu2+-doped ZnO nanocrystals with controllable dopant concentrations. At present, the highest level of efficiency has surpassed 10%, suggesting that OPVs have great potential to become competitive with other thin-film solar technologies. Because plasmonic nanostructures are likely to further improve the efficiency of OPVs, this Article reviews recent progress in the development of metal nanostructures for triggering plasmonic effects in OPVs. First, we briefly describe the physical fundamentals of surface plasmons (SPs). Then, we discuss recent approaches toward increasing the light trapping efficiency of OPVs through the incorporation of plasmonic structures. Finally, we provide a brief outlook into the future use of SPs in highly efficient OPVs.Item type:Item, STREAMING ENCODER, PROSODY INFORMATION ENCODING DEVICE, PROSODY-ANALYZING DEVICE, AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SPEECH SYNTHESIZING(2014-08-07) ;Chen Sin-Horng ;Wang Yih-Ru ;Chiang Chen-YuHsieh Chiao-HuaA speech-synthesizing device includes a hierarchical prosodic module, a prosody-analyzing device, and a prosody-synthesizing unit.
