Item type:Item, WIRELESS INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE MONITORING DEVICE, AND DETECTING MODULE THEREOF(2014-09-18) ;Huang Tzuen-Hsi ;Lin Ying-Chun ;Su Wei-Shang ;Cheng Huey-WenHuang Hong-YiA wireless intraocular pressure monitoring device includes reflecting and detecting modules. The reflecting module includes a soft contact lens having a curvature corresponding to that of a cornea while worn. A metal layer is embedded in and deformable with the soft contact lens. The detecting module includes two waveguides, an oscillator, and a converting unit. The oscillator is operable to generate oscillation signals having a frequency dependent on an equivalent impedance of the waveguides such that the equivalent impedance corresponds to intraocular pressure. The converting unit is operable for receiving and converting the oscillation signals into an output signal corresponding to the intraocular pressure.Item type:Item, METHOD FOR DISPLAYING A GRAPHIC INTERFACE WITH MESSAGE/NOTIFICATION, APPARATUS, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIUM(2014-09-18) ;HSU TERNG-YINLAI WEI-CHIDisclosure is related to a method for displaying a graphic interface with message/notification, an apparatus, and a computer-readable storage device. It is featured that a graphic interface is displayed on a screen of a mobile device for showing one or more messages/notifications in one limited area. This interface allows a user to preview the message before clicking the link. After that, the full content can be read while the link is opened. The method includes firstly parsing the received message/notification and retrieving the content, format, and the correlated software program. Based on numbers, formats and the correlated software programs of the messages, the content displayed onto a graphic interface is arranged. On the graphic interface, one or more preview content of the messages/notifications having profiles of specifying one or more software programs are provided for the user to click for viewing the full content.Item type:Item, TRANSMISSION OF VIDEO IN WIRELESS ENVIRONMENT(2014-09-18) ;LIN HSUAN-LI ;WU TUNG-YU ;YU KUNG-HSIENHUANG CHIN-YAOA cross-layer adaptation scheme, which can be applied in a femto base station, is proposed for quality of service provisions for the scalable video streaming of high definition content in a wireless environment. Within the procedure of minimum video distortion optimization framework, the method can dynamically adopt the cross-layer parameters, which contain the video rate, payload length of a packet, the mode of modulation and coding scheme. Based on channel quality and related parameters, the proposed scheme formulates the problem of parameter selection into an optimization problem, which can be automatically solved.Item type:Item, Variability of stream flow discharge in response to self-similar random fields of temporal fluctuations in lateral inflow rate(2014-09-19) ;Chang, Ching-Min ;Yeh, Hund-Der ;環境工程研究所Institute of Environmental EngineeringThis article presents the use of stochastic methodology for quantitative analysis of variability in stream flow discharge in response to fluctuations in lateral inflow rate, where the lateral inflow rate is considered to be the difference between rainfall and infiltration rates. In this work, we focus on the case where the temporal correlation structure of the fluctuations in the lateral inflow rate can be characterized by the statistics of random fractals. A closed-form expression quantifying the stream flow variability is therefore developed to investigate the influence of the fractal dimension of lateral inflow process and the size of time domain. It is found that the stream flow discharge variability increases with the time domain size, while the fractal dimension of lateral inflow process plays a role in the smoothness of fluctuations in stream flow discharge around the mean. Transient adaptive sub-cell (TAS) and variable time-step (VTS) approaches were implemented to reduce computation time without a loss in accuracy. The proposed method was validated using two benchmarks: 2D hypersonic flow of nitrogen over a ramp and 2D hypersonic flow of argon around a cylinder using various free-stream Knudsen numbers. We also detailed the influence of TAS and VTS on computational accuracy and efficiency. Our results demonstrate the efficacy of using TAS in combination with VTS in reducing computation times by more than 10x. Compared to the throughput of a single core Intel CPU, the proposed approach using a single GPU enables a 13-35x increase in speed, which varies according to the size of the problem and type of GPU used in the simulation. Finally, the transition from regular reflection to Mach reflection for supersonic flow through a channel was simulated to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed approach in reproducing flow fields in challenging problems. The reconstructed image quality presents root mean square error of 0.03, with a diffraction efficiency of 87%, and signal-to-noise ratio of 8 dB after the analysis. Furthermore, two denoising techniques for the digital filter and optical suppression are combined, in which the speckle suppression with pseudorandom phase modulation and a rotating diffuser are utilized for successfully reducing the speckle contrast, which was reduced to below 4%. The goal was to reduce visual fatigue for the viewers.
