System performance of R-1234yf refrigerant in air-conditioning and heat pump system - An overview of current status

In this study, an overview of the system performance of R-1234yf in association with R-134a is carried out. Based on the existing researches, it is found that the COP and heat capacity of R-134a system may suffer from direct drop-in replacement of R-1234yf. The deterioration is around 0-27% depending on the operational conditions. With the introduction of internal heat exchanger, ejector, expander, or adjustment of the thermal expansion valve, the deterioration can be relieved, and a comparable performance becomes likely. For the heat transfer performance in the evaporator, R-1234yf is almost comparable with that of R-134a. However, the performance in the condenser is inferior to R-134a. The phenomenon may be quite severe for a water cooled condenser since the dominant thermal resistance may fall in the refrigerant side. The volumetric efficiency of R-1234yf system is slightly lower than that of R-134a due to higher frictional drop of R-1234yf. For the same thermal expansion valve for controlling the suction superheat, it appears that higher suction superheat may occur for R-1234yf refrigerant. Hence further adjustment of spring in the valve is required for soft optimization. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
Integrated storage platform system and method thereof

The present invention discloses an integrated storage platform system and a method thereof. The system comprises at least one adaption module respectively connecting with at least one storage space and each performing a plurality of adaption settings corresponding to one storage space; a storage administration module connecting with the adaption modules and processing the files of the storage spaces; and an access interface connecting the storage administration module, operated by a user to access the storage space through the storage administration module and the adaption module, and presenting access results to the user. The present invention establishes different adaption modules to enable the user to link to and access different types of storage spaces.
Reducing power consumption in LTE data scheduling with the constraints of channel condition and QoS

3GPP has developed the Discontinuous Reception (DRX) power saving mechanism, which periodically turns off the radio interface to reduce the power consumption. However, packets cannot be received during the turn-off duration, as a result that the Quality of Services (QoS) may be violated. Therefore, optimal DRX parameters should be configured to satisfy QoS and minimize power consumption. In addition, channel condition may be unstable during the transmission, so the DRX parameters should also be dynamically adjusted. In this paper, we propose the Dynamic Scheduling with Extensible Allocation and Dispersed Offsets (DXD) scheme, which is composed of two algorithms, DRX parameters decision, to determine DRX period by considering channel condition and QoS constraints, and DRX-aware scheduling, to determine whether to extend the on duration so that QoS would not be affected by DRX. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed DXD approach can reduce power consumption up to 96.7% compared to No-DRX scheme and guarantee QoS as good as No-DRX scheme. In addition, the power consumption can be reduced by 70.1% and 45.7% compared to the Fixed-DRX (100 ms), start-offset scheme and IS scheme in good channel condition. Our approach effectively reduces power consumption in varied channel conditions and high loading system and still achieves better delay satisfaction ratio than others. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. A unified MIPv6 and PMIPv6 route optimization scheme for heterogeneous mobility management domains

Nowadays more and more wireless users are on move while accessing the Internet, and providing mobility support in IP networks has been a long-standing challenge. Client-based Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) is the most widely known mobility management scheme, and fast emerging Proxy-based Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) scheme offers an alternative. However, some inherent problems such as route optimization in these schemes have not been totally solved. Although various proposals tried to tackle the route optimization problem, none of them has achieved a satisfactory success. Furthermore, most of them are not a comprehensive solution for coexisting MIPv6/PMIPv6 mobility environments. In this paper, we propose a unified approach to Route Optimization (RO) scheme based on a simplified MIPv6 Return Routability Procedure (RRP) protocol, called Traffic Driven Pseudo Binding Update (TDPBU), which can significantly improve the overall performance of mobility management schemes. Our proposed scheme can ensure immediate route optimization, regardless the heterogeneous MIPv6/PMIPv6 environment in which the MNs reside. Simulation results show that TDPBU can improve the performance in terms of the end-to-end latency, signaling cost, throughput, route optimization latency, route optimization blocking rate, and power consumption compared to original MIPv6 with RRP mechanism. RECONFIGURABLE SORTER AND METHOD OF SORTING

Disclosure is related to a reconfigurable sorter and a method of sorting using the sorter. The reconfigurable sorting method is adapted to the sorter essentially consisting of multiple serially-connected comparison units. The each comparison unit includes two registers. The sorter is particularly a reconfigurable device according to the number of sorted numerals. According to the exemplary embodiment, an input mode is initiated firstly. Initial values are set to the registers. The numerals are sequentially inputted to the registers. At the input mode, the values in the registers may be shifted if necessary and mutually compared in every comparison unit. The values in the registers of every comparison unit may be swapped based on the comparison. At output mode, the numerals are outputted sequentially. The values in the registers are shifted and swapped until all numerals are completely outputted. The output appears the sorted numerals with low timing latency.

In this study, we demonstrated experimentally that formation of chains and islands of oxygen vacancies in hafnium sub-oxides (HfOx, x < 2) leads to percolation charge transport in such dielectrics. Basing on the model of Efros-Shklovskii percolation theory, good quantitative agreement between the experimental and theoretical data of current-voltage characteristics was achieved. Based on the percolation theory suggested model shows that hafnium sub-oxides consist of mixtures of metallic Hf nanoscale clusters of 1-2 nm distributed onto non-stoichiometric HfOx. It was shown that reported approach might describe low resistance state current-voltage characteristics of resistive memory elements based on HfOx. (C) 2014 AIP Publishing LLC.
