Item type:Item, SESSION-AWARE NETWORK ADDRESS TRANSLATION TRAVERSAL METHOD(2015-09-24) ;TSENG CHIEN-CHAO ;WANG MING-HUNGLIN CHIA-LIANGThe session-aware NAT traversal method is used to establish network communication between two hosts, wherein a first and a second host are located behind a first and a second NAT router, respectively. First, these hosts conduct a standard NAT traversal to establish a session. Then, the second host sends a registration request message to the first NAT router for session registration. Upon receiving the registration request message, the first NAT router generates a session ID for this session and replies to the second host. As the second host moves to a private network behind a third NAT router, the second host only needs to send a new registration request message with the session ID to the first NAT router. The first NAT router observes a new mapped address of the second host and allows inbound traffic from the new mapped address without further NAT traversal.Item type:Item, TOUCH DISPLAY APPARATUS AND TOUCH SENSING METHOD(2015-09-24) ;WANG Guo-Zhen ;CHANG Tian-SheuanCHUANG Jen-HuiA touch display apparatus includes a display panel, a frame and a plurality of sensing modules. Conventional sample preparation procedures limit temporal resolution of analysis. We have developed an automated liquid-liquid extraction system that enables unsupervised repetitive treatment of dynamic samples and instantaneous analysis by mass spectrometry (MS). It incorporates inexpensive open-source microcontroller boards (Arduino and Netduino) to guide the extraction and analysis process. Duration of every extraction cycle is 17 min. The system enables monitoring of dynamic processes over many hours. The extracts are automatically transferred to the ion source incorporating a Venturi pump. Operation of the device has been characterized (repeatability, RSD = 15%, n = 20; concentration range for ibuprofen, 0.053-2.000 mM; LOD for ibuprofen, similar to 0.005 mM; including extraction and detection). To exemplify its usefulness in real-world applications, we implemented this device in chemical profiling of pharmaceutical formulation dissolution process. Temporal dissolution profiles of commercial ibuprofen and acetaminophen tablets were recorded during 10 h. The extraction-MS datasets were fitted with exponential functions to characterize the rates of release of the main and auxiliary ingredients (e.g. ibuprofen, k = 0.43 +/- 0.01 h(-1)). The electronic control unit of this system interacts with the operator via touch screen, internet, voice, and short text messages sent to the mobile phone, which is helpful when launching long-term (e.g. overnight) measurements. Due to these interactive features, the platform brings the concept of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) to the chemistry laboratory environment. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. Extracted waterlines on different satellite images are sometimes used for shoreline evolution. However, time-varying waterlines for tidal variation and wave runup are different from the shoreline at the mean water level. Waterline evolution may bring about misunderstanding of beach erosion or accretion. In a former study, the one-line shift method was proposed to determine the waterlines on a satellite image and to shift the water-lines to shorelines while only considering the tidal variation. The upward shift extension of the waterline due to wave runup and wave setup is considered. Some acceptable equations of wave runup were examined to correct the waterlines on three satellite images in one month when the foreshore beach slopes were specified. The suggested equation for wave runup includes both wave conditions and an average beachface slope at two points located shoreward and seaward away from mean water level by an equal distance of 62.5 m. When on-site shore bathymetrical measurement is sometimes unavailable, a method of minimizing the difference between the initially guessed and estimated foreshore beach slopes by the one-line shift method is proposed. This nationwide cohort study investigated the risks of developing CKD and glomerulonephritis in patients with RA, and the associated risks for cardiovascular complications. Methods From the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database, we identified a study cohort of 12,579 patients with RA and randomly selected 37,737 subjects without RA as a control cohort. Each subject was individually followed for up for 5 years, and the risk of CKD was analyzed using Cox proportional hazards regression models. Results During the follow-up period, after adjusting for traditional cardiovascular risk factors RA was independently associated with a significantly increased risk of CKD (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] 1.31; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.23-1.40) and glomerulonephritis (aHR 1.55; 95% CI 1.37-1.76). Increased risk of CKD was also associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cyclosporine, glucocorticoids, mycophenolate mofetil, and cyclophosphamide. Patients with comorbidities had even greater increased risk of CKD. Moreover, RA patients with concurrent CKD had significantly higher likelihood of developing ischemic heart disease and stroke. Conclusions RA patients had higher risk of developing CKD and glomerulonephritis, independent of traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Their increased risk of CKD may be attributed to glomerulonephritis, chronic inflammation, comorbidities, and renal toxicity of antirheumatic drugs. Careful monitoring of renal function in RA patients and tight control of their comorbid diseases and cardiovascular risk factors are warranted.
