A graphical representation (GR) was developed as a tool to code and analyze the dialogue interaction process. Through the GR and qualitative analysis, we identified three types of dialogue reconciling strategies. The first one consists of teacher management, in which the teacher temporarily maintains the right to speak when students get mired in an emotional rebuttal situation. The second strategy involves the use of qualifiers to identify the strengths and weaknesses of an opposing argument. The third strategy consists of providing students with guidance to keep both parties (i.e. the students taking, respectively, the affirmative and negative positions) on the same discussion topic and can be used to assist teachers with forming broad questions that prompt students to conduct deeper discussions. These reconciling strategies were beneficial in that they helped students to argue in a more reflective way.Item type:Item, Covering relations and Lyapunov condition for topological conjugacy(2016-01-02) ;Li, Ming-Chia ;Lyu, Ming-Jiea ;應用數學系Department of Applied MathematicsIn this paper, we study stability of non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems. For a two-sided non-autonomous systems with covering relations determined by a transition matrix A, we show that any small C-0 perturbed system has a sequence of compact invariant sets restricted to which the system is topologically semi-conjugate to sigma(A), the two-sided subshift of finite type induced by A. Together with Lyapunov condition of good rate, the semi-conjugacy will become conjugacy. Moreover, if the Lyapunov condition is strict and has perfect rate, then any small C-1 perturbed systems is topological conjugate to sigma(A). We also study topological chaos of one-sided systems and systems with limit functions. Lack of hyperbolicity and the time dependence of the rate prevent us from applying classical hyperbolic results or earlier works for autonomous systems: cone condition and Lyapunov function. Two examples are provided to demonstrate the existence of a non-trivial, non-hyperbolic invariant and essential of controlling rate.Item type:Item, New hybrid COPRAS-G MADM Model for improving and selecting suppliers in green supply chain management(2016-01-02) ;Liou, James J. H. ;Tamosaitiene, Jolanta ;Zavadskas, Edmundas K. ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung科技管理研究所Greening the supply chain is an increasingly important concern for many business enterprises and a challenge for logistics management. Critical functions within green supply chain management are internal improvements and selection of green suppliers. This study proposes a novel, hybrid model that addresses dependent relationships between various criteria and the vague information coming from decision-makers. The Decision-making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) technique structures the relationships among criteria, thereby constructing an influential network relationship map (INRM). Meanwhile the DEMATEL-based, analytical network process (ANP) method aids in obtaining influential weights of the criteria. Decision-makers may hold diverse opinions and preferences due to incomplete information, differences in knowledge or simply conflicts that are inherent between various departments. This can make it difficult to judge the performance of alternatives. One remedy is to apply a modified COmplex PRoportional ASsessment of alternatives with Grey relations. Next, this is applied to improve each criterion for integration of the performance values obtained in closing the aspiration level from different expert opinions based on INRM. An empirical example using data from a Taiwanese electronics company is provided to demonstrate our proposed method. The results can provide firms with a knowledge-based understanding of the source of some problems, thus reducing the performance gaps and closing the aspiration levels. Finally, there is a discussion on certain managerial implications.Item type:Item, Circular numerical ranges of partial isometries(2016-01-02) ;Gau, Hwa-Long ;Wang, Kuo-Zhong ;Wu, Pei Yuan ;應用數學系Department of Applied MathematicsLet A be an n-by-n partial isometry whose numerical range W(A) is a circular disc with centre c and radius r. In this paper, we are concerned with the possible values of c and r. We show that c must be 0 if n is at most 4 and conjecture that the same is true for the general n. As for the radius, we show that if W(A) = {z is an element of C : vertical bar z vertical bar <= r}, then the set of all possible values of r is {0, cos(pi/(n + 1))}boolean OR [cos(pi/3), cos(pi/n)]. Indeed, it is shown more precisely that for dim ker A = k, 1 <= k <= n, the possible values of r are those in the interval [cos(pi/inverted right perpendicularn/kinverted left perpendicular + 1)), cos(pi/(n - k + 2))]. In the proof process, we also characterize n-by-n partial isometries which are (unitarily) irreducible. The paper is concluded with a question on the rotational invariance of nilpotent partial isometries with circular numerical ranges centred at the origin.Item type:Item, Product of operators and numerical range(2016-01-02) ;Chien, Mao-Ting ;Gau, Hwa-Long ;Li, Chi-Kwong ;Tsai, Ming-ChengWang, Kuo-ZhongWe show that a bounded linear operator A is an element of B(H) is a multiple of a unitary operator if and only if AZ and Z A always have the same numerical radius or the same numerical range for all (rank one) Z is an element of B(H). More generally, for any bounded linear operators A, B is an element of B(H), we show that AZ and ZB always have the same numerical radius (resp., the same numerical range) for all (rank one) Z is an element of B(H) if and only if A = e(it) B (resp., A = B) is a multiple of a unitary operator for some t is an element of [0, 2 pi). We extend the result to other types of generalized numerical ranges including the k-numerical range and the higher rank numerical range.
