Development of method for quantifying essential tremor using a small optical device

Background: Clinical assessment scales are the most common means used by physicians to assess tremor severity. Some scientific tools that may be able to replace these scales to objectively assess the severity, such as accelerometers, digital tablets, electromyography (EMG) measurement devices, and motion capture cameras, are currently available. However, most of the operational modes of these tools are relatively complex or are only able to capture part of the clinical information; furthermore, using these tools is sometimes time consuming. Currently, there is no tool available for automatically quantifying tremor severity in clinical environments. New method: We aimed to develop a rapid, objective, and quantitative system for measuring the severity of finger tremor using a small portable optical device (Leap Motion). Results: A single test took 15 s to conduct, and three algorithms were proposed to quantify the severity of finger tremor. The system was tested with four patients diagnosed with essential tremor. Comparison with existing method: The proposed algorithms were able to quantify different characteristics of tremor in clinical environments, and could be used as references for future clinical assessments. Conclusions: A portable, easy-to-use, small -sized, and noncontact device (Leap Motion) was used to clinically detect and record finger movement, and three algorithms were proposed to describe tremor amplitudes. By combing Zn-diffusion and oxide-relief apertures with strong detuning (>20 nm) in our demonstrated short-cavity (lambda/2) 850-nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), wide electrical-to-optical bandwidth (29-24 GHz), low-differential resistance (similar to 100 Omega), and (quasi) single-mode (SM) with reasonable output power (similar to 1.4 mW) performances can be simultaneously achieved. Error-free ON-OFF keying transmission at 54-Gb/s data rate through 1-km OM4 multi-mode fiber can be achieved by using highly SM device with forward error correction and decision feedback equalization techniques. As compared with the reference device with a larger oxide-relief aperture and a multi-mode performance, the SM device exhibits lower bit-error rate (1x10(-5) versus 1x10(-2)) at 54 Gb/s. This result indicates that modal dispersion plays more important role in transmission than that of output power does. We benchmark these results to an industrial 50-Gb/s SM VCSEL. It shows a higher bit-error-rate value similar to 3.5x10(-3) versus similar to 1.4x10(-4) under the same received optical power.

The angle demodulator (ADM) is a key component for sensors based on angle modulation such as in the path matched differential interferometry (PMDI). Conventional ADMs require tens of operational amplifiers (OPAMPs) and bulky capacitors and resistors, making them difficult to be realized as integrated circuits (ICs). Furthermore, the state-of-the-art ADMs demand precisely controlled modulation indices. Thus, the practical optical modulators in the interferometers cannot but need sophisticated and costly calibrations to precisely control the modulation indices. This paper presents the first ADM IC designed for the PMDI-based sensors. It requires only one OPAMP and thus saves significant area and power, making it best suitable for portable applications. In addition, this novel ADM design tolerates a wide range of the modulation depth of the optical interferometer. As a result, the yield of the PMDI sensor significantly increases and no calibration for an accurate modulation index is necessary. A test chip of the proposed ADM has been designed and successfully verified in 0.18-mu m CMOS. The active area of the proposed circuits is only 476 x 368 mu m(2) and it consumes only 6.26 mW.

We study the classification and evolution of bifurcation curves of positive solutions for the onedimensional perturbed Gelfand equation with mixed boundary conditions given by {u"(x) + lambda exp(au/a+u) = 0, 0 < x < 1, u(0) = 0, u\' (1) = -c < 0. We prove that, for positive a <= a(0) (approximate to 0.501) and c > 0, the bifurcation curve is strictly increasing on the (A, II ulloo)-plane, and there exists a positive Xo such that the problem has no positive solution for 0 < lambda < lambda(0) and exactly one positive solution for lambda > lambda(0). While for a >= a(1) (approximate to 4.107), there exists c(1) (= c(1) (a)) > 1.057 such that, on the (A, 11u1100) -plane, (i) when 0 < c < cl, the bifurcation curve is S-shaped, and the problem has at least three positive solutions for some range of positive A; (ii) when c > cl, the bifurcation curve is c-shaped and the problem has at least two positive solutions for some range of positive A. 本發明提供一種具有大晶粒之銅薄膜，其中在該銅薄膜之至少一表面上，50%以上之面積的晶粒係沿[100]晶軸方向成長，且該複數個晶粒的平均大小為150 mm以上。本發明之銅薄膜上的晶粒尺寸較大，且具有高度優選的方向性，因此可使銅薄膜具有良好的可撓性、穩定度以及抗電遷移特性。本發明亦提供具有上述銅薄膜之銅箔基板。
無線通訊控制系統及其方法

一種產生十二導程心電圖信號的系統包含：貼附在一人體胸部特定位置的三信號感測裝置，其每一者包含兩彼此分開且構成一差動導程的電極，並經由該兩電極感測該人體胸部的肌電信號，且以無線方式輸出一對應於該兩電極所感測之肌電信號間的電位差之差動電壓；及一信號處理端，以無線方式接收來自該等信號感測裝置的該等差動電壓，並根據所接收的該等差動電壓，利用一預先建立、相關於該等信號感測裝置所貼附之特定位置且規範有十二導程之間在空間與時間上之相關性的動態系統模型，產生作為該十二導程心電圖信號的十二導程信號。

一種影像顯示裝置包含一全像繞射模組、一光源模組以及一光學偏折元件。全像繞射模組用以產生一干涉全像圖案。光源模組用以提供一重建光照射全像繞射模組。光學偏折元件設置於全像繞射模組之一側，用以反射、折射或繞射來自空間光調制器之重建光，以在一成像位置形成供使用者觀看之一全像，其中，成像位置遠離全像繞射模組。
