Item type:Item, Non-flickering 100 m RGB visible light communication transmission based on a CMOS image sensor(2018-03-19) ;Chow, Chi-Wai ;Shiu, Ruei-Jie ;Liu, Yen-Chun ;Liu, YangYeh, Chien-HungWe demonstrate a non-flickering 100 m long-distance RGB visible light communication (VLC) transmission based on a complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) camera. Experimental bit-error rate (BER) measurements under different camera ISO values and different transmission distances are evaluated. Here, we also experimentally reveal that the rolling shutter effect- (RSE) based VLC system cannot work at long distance transmission, and the under-sampled modulation- (USM) based VLC system is a good choice. Despite the availability of large-scale methods for analyzing PPI networks, these methods often focused on PPI networks using genome-scale data and/or known experimental PPIs. However, these methods are unable to provide structurally resolved interaction residues and their conservations in PPI networks. Results: Here, we reconstructed a human three-dimensional (3D) structural PPI network (hDiSNet) with the detailed atomic binding models and disease-associated mutations by enhancing our PPI families and 3D-domain interologs from 60,618 structural complexes and complete genome database with 6,352,363 protein sequences across 2274 species. hDiSNet is a scale-free network (gamma = 2.05), which consists of 5177 proteins and 19,239 PPIs with 5843 mutations. These 19,239 structurally resolved PPIs not only expanded the number of PPIs compared to present structural PPI network, but also achieved higher agreement with gene ontology similarities and higher co-expression correlation than the ones of 181,868 experimental PPIs recorded in public databases. Among 5843 mutations, 1653 and 790 mutations involved in interacting domains and contacting residues, respectively, are highly related to diseases. Our hDiSNet can provide detailed atomic interactions of human disease and their associated proteins with mutations. Our results show that the disease-related mutations are often located at the contacting residues forming the hydrogen bonds or conserved in the PPI family. In addition, hDiSNet provides the insights of the FGFR (EGFR)-MAPK pathway for interpreting the mechanisms of breast cancer and ErbB signaling pathway in brain cancer. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that hDiSNet can explore structural-based interactions insights for understanding the mechanisms of disease-associated proteins and their mutations. We believe that our method is useful to reconstruct structurally resolved PPI networks for interpreting structural genomics and disease associations.Item type:Item, 交大e-News第251期-校長講座─Yannis A. P. ;Chen, BinmengHu, ChuanlinPrefabricated lightweight concrete building fascade can improve the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce the carbon emission of transportation. However, it is essential to maintain the dimensional stability of the full scale element. The drying shrinkage of lightweight foamed concrete was investigated in this study. The hypothesis of using the drying shrinkage of normal weight concrete to approximate that of lightweight foamed concrete of dry density about 1500 kg/m(3) counterpart was verified. Three different strategies of reducing drying shrinkage were studied. The drying shrinkage of common ingredients of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) was commonly up to 2000-3000 mu epsilon. The use of magnesium expansive agent with different calcination conditions could not reduce the drying shrinkage. The use of calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement with OPC and GGBS could significantly reduce the drying shrinkage within 1000 me in standard testing environment. The formulation developed in laboratory was scaled up in a concrete production plant for prefabricated concrete elements. A lightweight full scale panel (the wet density was about 1700 kg/m(3)) was fabricated. The drying shrinkage of the developed formulation with CSA cement was only 161 mu epsilon in the field test. A hygro-mechanical model was developed to model the diffusion, shrinkage and plastic strain evolution. The incremental stress-strain constitutive relationship of the hygro-mechanical model was derived for incorporating it into general finite element routine. The model parameters were calibrated by the drying shrinkage measurements in this study. The calibrated model demonstrated the cracking potential of three typical reinforced concrete panels of three different formulations studied in this study. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. Conventionally, I-t measurements are conducted at a fixed potential relative to the reference electrode, e.g., 0 V vs. Ag/AgCl, to monitor the photocurrent, which has been regarded as a direct indicator for performance comparison among different electrodes. Considering that the open-circuit potential (OCP) varies from electrode to electrode, the photocurrent comparison at a fixed potential may misrepresent the actual differences between samples. Here, we study the PEC performance by applying two distinct external bias values, one at 0 V vs. Ag/AgCI deriving from the conventional practice and the other at 0.1 V vs. OCP representing the exactly fixed applied overpotential. Two experimental groups are designed to address the arguments, including the influence of heat treatment for ZnO nanorod arrays and the global comparison among ZnO, TiO2, Au particle-decorated TiO2, and CdS electrodes. Different trends in photocurrent are observed at the two distinct biases, with the results from 0.1 V vs. OCP conforming to the general considerations. The results suggest that application of a fixed potential relative to the OCP will provide a more fair comparison for accurate PEC performance evaluation without under-or over-estimation. As the annealing temperature increases, the IZWO films maintain an amorphous state, which is conducive to the uniformity of the TFT. The field effect mobility of the device increases as a function of annealing temperature and reaches 16.2cm(2)V(-1)s(-1) at 300 degrees C, along with an on/off current ratio of 1.6x10(8). Meanwhile, the corresponding positive bias stability is improved, as confirmed by the fact that the threshold voltage shift value reduces to 0.4V after being stressed for 1500s. This result can be ascribed to the decrease in electrons captured by the deep defects in a-IZWO TFTs.Item type:Item, The role of aromatic side chains on the supramolecular hydrogelation of naphthalimide/dipeptide conjugates(2018-03-21) ;Hsu, Shu-Min ;Chakravarthy, Rajan Deepan ;Cheng, Hsun ;Wu, Fang-YiLai, Tsung-ShengHerein, the influence of an amino acid side chain on the structural and functional properties of hydrogels has been described. In this study, four new hydrogelators based on the conjugates of dipeptides and naphthalimide (NI) have been designed, synthesized, and examined. Homopeptide 1 (NI-FF) of the phenylalanine residue forms a weak hydrogel or a viscous solution of worm-like micelles under basic conditions. On the other hand, dipeptide conjugates of 2 (NI-FY), 3 (NI-YF), and 4 (NI-YY), containing additional hydroxyl groups as tyrosine residues, can self-assemble into supramolecular hydrogels under physiological pH conditions. UV-vis, IR, and rheological studies clearly indicate the formation and stability of these dipeptide hydrogels. The TEM results revealed that the hydrogels (1-4) self-assembled into a nanofibrous morphology. Furthermore, the cell culture results show that NI-YF has better cell compatibility as compared to NI-FY and NI-YY and thus shows potential to be used as a hydrogel biomaterial. Overall, this study highlights the importance of the structure-hydrogelation relationship and provides new insights into the design of self-assembled peptide amphiphiles.Item type:Item, Inhomogeneous Photoluminescence Characteristic in Carbon Nanodots and Electrophotoluminescence Measurements(2018-03-22) ;Hamada, Morihiko ;Okoshi, Kenji ;Rana, Shailesh ;Awasthi, KamleshIimori, ToshifumiPhotoluminescence (PL) spectra, time-resolved PL spectra, and PL decay profiles have been observed for carbon nanodots (CDs) with different excitation wavelengths in an embedded solid film and in solution. PL excitation spectra have been also observed with different monitoring wavelengths. Then, it is found in both solid film and solution that not only the location of the PL spectra but also the peak of the excitation spectra show a significant red shift, as the excitation and monitoring wavelengths become longer, respectively, indicating that the emitting states of the excitation-dependent PL are the real state to which direct absorption occurs from the ground state, not the transient trapped states produced by photoexcitation. It is shown that not only the excitation-dependent PL but also the excitation-independent PL with a peak at similar to 375 nm exist. The lifetimes of both PL emissions are very sensitive to the surroundings. Multiple emitting states that give excitation-dependent PL are ascribed to the inhomogeneous properties in prepared carbon nanodots, which is supported by the fluorescence lifetime image measurements. Electrophotoluminescence spectrum, that is, the electric-field-induced change in PL spectrum, has also been observed for the excitation-independent PL of CDs embedded in a poly(methyl methacrylate) film, and the magnitude of the change in electric dipole moment and molecular polarizability following emission has been determined.Item type:Item, Hydrogen-Bonding-Mediated Solid-State Self-Assembled Isoepindolidiones (isoEpi) Crystal for Organic Field-Effect Transistor(2018-03-22) ;Zhang, Haichang ;Liu, Kewei ;Wu, Kuan-Yi ;Chen, Yu-MingDeng, RuonanNovel pigments isoepindolidiones (isoEpi) and di-tert-butyl quinolino[8,7-h]quinoline-1,7-diyl bis(carbonate) (isoEpi-Boc) were synthesized and characterized. The spectroscopic characterizations indicated that the tert-butyloxycarbonyl (t-Boc) units could be removed from soluble isoEpi-Boc by thermal annealing, forming insoluble isoEpi with hydrogen bonding. A solid-state isoEpi-Boc crystal to isoEpi crystal transition was observed during the annealing process and the molecular packing was significantly changed. With the emergence of hydrogen bonds, the isoEpi molecules were arranged into a brick-in-wall structure with pi-stacking along the crystal growth axis, leading to a significant enhancement of charge mobility along the crystal growth direction (the hole mobility from 3.4 x 10(-4) to 0.32 cm(2)/(V.s), and the electron mobility from nondetectable to 5.6 x 10(-3) cm(2)/(V.s)). The results indicate that isoEpi is a promising chromophore for organic field-effect transistor (OFET). The crystal-to-crystal transition driven by the formation of hydrogen bonds is a unique method for modulating the charge transport properties in organic semiconductive materials for OFET devices.Item type:Item, Conductive bridge random access memory characteristics of SiCN based transparent device due to indium diffusion(2018-03-23) ;Kumar, Dayanand ;Aluguri, Rakesh ;Chand, Umesh ;Tseng, Tseung-Yuen電子工程學系及電子研究所In this work, the transparent bipolar resistive switching characteristics of a SiCN-based ITO/ SiCN/AZO structure due to In diffusion from ITO is studied. The SiCN based device is found to be 80% transparent in the visible wavelength region. This device, with AZO as both top and bottom electrodes, does not show any RRAM property due to deposition of the high quality O-2-free SiCN film. Replacing the AZO top electrode with ITO in this device results in good resistive switching (RS) characteristics with a high on/off ratio and long retention. Replacing the SiCN film with ZrO2 also results in excellent RS characteristics due to the formation of an oxygen vacancies filament inside the ZrO2 film. A resistance ratio of on/off is found to be higher in the SiCN based device compared to that of the ZrO2 device. Diffusion of In from ITO into the SiCN film on application of high positive voltage during forming can be attributed to the occurrence of RS in the device, which is confirmed by the analyses of energy dispersive spectroscopy and secondary-ion mass spectrometry. This study shows a pathway for the fabrication of CBRAM based transparent devices for non-volatile memory application.Item type:Item, 生命出境手冊 台灣殯葬近況(2018-03-25) ;范瑀真 ;Department of Communication and Technology傳播與科技學系【生命出境手冊】專題
