The design can effectively improve the comparatively low cooling effectiveness at the upper layer, yet the swap of flow can promote re-developing of flow field and heat transfer accordingly. Both parallel and counter flow arrangements of the proposed configurations are examined in details. It is found that the staggered wavy DMHSs with opposite amplitude shows superior heat transfer enhancement. Regardless of the types of heat sink being investigated, the maximum temperature for all parallel flow arrangement always occurs at the exit while the maximum temperature for counter flow is in the interior of heat sink but is close to the exit. Interestingly, the swap design of counter flow arrangement (parallel channel or wavy) shows two maximum temperatures in the first and second half of the heat sink. Basically, the counter flow of straight staggered DMHS has the best overall thermal performance among the counter flows of straight parallel DMHS, synclastic wavy staggered DMHS and opposite wavy staggered DMHS. This is because the wavy staggered DMHS incur more pressure drop and pumping power accordingly.Item type:Item, Item type:Item, Evacuation simulation with consideration of obstacle removal and using game theory(2018-06-05) ;Lin, Guan-Wen ;Wong, Sai-Keung ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIn this paper, we integrate a cellular automaton model with game theory to simulate crowd evacuation from a room with consideration of obstacle removal. The room has one or more exits, one of which is blocked by obstacles. The obstacles at the exit can be removed by volunteers. We investigate the cooperative and defective behaviors of pedestrians during evacuation. The yielder game and volunteer's dilemma game are employed to resolve interpedestrian conflict. An anticipation floor field is proposed to guide the pedestrians to avoid obstacles that are being removed. We conducted experiments to determine how a variety of conditions affect overall crowd evacuation and volunteer evacuation times. The conditions were the start time of obstacle removal, number of obstacles, placement of obstacles, time spent in obstacle removal, strength of the anticipation floor field, and obstacle visibility distance. We demonstrate how reciprocity can be achieved among pedestrians and increases the efficiency of the entire evacuation process.Item type:Item, CdS/CdSe co-sensitized brookite H:TiO2 nanostructures: Charge carrier dynamics and photoelectrochemical hydrogen generation(2018-06-05) ;Chang, Yung-Shan ;Choi, Mingi ;Baek, Minki ;Hsieh, Ping-YenYong, KijungIn this study, we have synthesized CdS/CdSe co-sensitized brookite TiO2 nanostructures with hydrogen doping (H:TiO2/CdS/CdSe) in a facile solution reaction and studied their PEC performances. Compared to undoped brookite TiO2, the H:TiO2/CdS/CdSe composites exhibit much enhanced photocurrent generation, which originates from the improved charge transfer kinetics endowed by hydrogen doping and sensitization. Time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) and electrochemical impendence spectroscopy (EIS) are employed to explore the charge transfer dynamics between sensitizers and TiO2 and charge carrier kinetics at the semiconductor/electrolyte interface. According to the analytical results, sensitizations of TiO2 are found to enhance the charge separation efficiency. Besides, the hydrogen doping into TiO2 generates oxygen vacancy states, providing additional charge transfer pathway and prohibiting charge recombination, beneficial for enhancing the PEC performances as well. Based on the charge dynamics data, we further develop charge transfer models for TiO2/CdS/CdSe and H:TiO2/CdS/CdSe. The findings from this work can help understanding the charge transfer dynamics in brookite TiO(2)based composite systems as well as designing versatile photoelectrodes for solar energy conversion.Item type:Item, Analysis of Leakage Current Mechanism for Ni/Au Schottky Contact on InAlGaN/GaN HEMT(2018-06-06) ;Lumbantoruan, Franky ;Wu, Chia-Hsun ;Zheng, Xia-Xi ;Singh, Sankalp K.Dee, Chang-FuThe gate leakage mechanism for InAlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) is systematically studied using temperature-dependent gate current-voltage characteristics. The electric field across the barrier layer is calculated through the extracted polarization charge and dielectric constant of the InAlGaN/GaN HEMT. The gate current of the InAlGaN/GaN HEMT is analyzed by fitting the experimental data using Themionic Emission (TE), Poole-Frenkel (PF), and Fowler-Nordheim (FN) tunneling. The results show that 1) reverse leakage current in the thin InAlGaN barrier layer is dominated by FN tunneling due to triangular barrier formation; 2) for thicker barrier layer, the reverse leakage current at low electric field (<2.23MVcm(-1)) is dominated by PF emission; 3) at high electric field near the threshold voltage the FN tunneling dominates. Extraction of effective barrier height by fitting the experimental data with models leads to the suggestion for the improvement of the device leakage current.Item type:Item, An integrated experimental and theoretical reaction path search: analyses of the multistage reaction of an ionized diethylether dimer involving isomerization, proton transfer, and dissociation(2018-06-07) ;Matsuda, Yoshiyuki ;Xie, Min ;Fujii, Asuka ;應用化學系應用化學系分子科學碩博班An ionization-induced multistage reaction of an ionized diethylether (DEE) dimer involving isomerization, proton transfer, and dissociation is investigated by combining infrared (IR) spectroscopy, tandem mass spectrometry, and a theoretical reaction path search. The vertically-ionized DEE dimer isomerizes to a hydrogen-bonded cluster of protonated DEE and the [DEE-H] radical through barrierless intermolecular proton transfer from the CH bond of the ionized moiety. This isomerization process is confirmed by IR spectroscopy and the theoretical reaction path search. The multiple dissociation pathways following the isomerization are analyzed by tandem mass spectrometry. The isomerized cluster dissociates stepwise into a [protonated DEE-acetaldehyde (AA)] cluster, protonated DEE, and protonated AA. The structure of the fragment ion is also analyzed by IR spectroscopy. The reaction map of the multistage processes is revealed through a harmony of these experimental and theoretical methods.Item type:Item, Plants send small RNAs in extracellular vesicles to fungal pathogen to silence virulence genes(2018-06-08) ;Cai, Qiang ;Qiao, Lulu ;Wang, Ming ;He, BaoyeLin, Feng-MaoSome pathogens and pests deliver small RNAs (sRNAs) into host cells to suppress host immunity. Conversely, hosts also transfer sRNAs into pathogens and pests to inhibit their virulence. Although sRNA trafficking has been observed in a wide variety of interactions, how sRNAs are transferred, especially from hosts to pathogens and pests, is still unknown. Here, we show that host Arabidopsis cells secrete exosome-like extracellular vesicles to deliver sRNAs into fungal pathogen Botrytis cinerea. These sRNA-containing vesicles accumulate at the infection sites and are taken up by the fungal cells. Transferred host sRNAs induce silencing of fungal genes critical for pathogenicity. Thus, Arabidopsis has adapted exosome-mediated cross-kingdom RNA interference as part of its immune responses during the evolutionary arms race with the pathogen.Item type:Item, Item type:Item, 關於化妝 女人何苦為難女人(2018-06-10) ;簡梵軒 ;Department of Communication and Technology傳播與科技學系【化妝、性別與社會】專題
