Item type:Item, Engineering surface lattice resonance of elliptical gold nanodisk array for enhanced strain sensing(2018-12-10) ;Chang, Kai-Hao ;Cheng, Jiunn-Shouh ;Lu, Tsan-Wen ;Lee, Po-Tsung光電工程學系We demonstrate an elliptical gold nanodisk array (GNA) for engineering the spectral profile of surface lattice resonance (SLR). The nanodisk's shape has a great impact on SLR. A small linewidth of 20 mn at an aspect ratio of 1.17 and a large wavelength tuning of 64 nm within 4% strain via different orientations and polarizations is achieved experimentally. The enhanced wavelength response of 6.93 mu per 1% strain variation for elliptical GNA is 2.4 times better than that for general circular GNA. Furthermore, figure of merit of strain sensing for elliptical GNA approaches 5.7 times greater than that for circular GNA. Electronic structures of a lateral MoSe2-WSe2 junction have been unveiled using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. A smooth and narrow depletion region exists despite a defect-rich heterointerface deviating from the preferred zigzag orientations of the TMDC lattice. From the characteristics of the depletion region, a high carrier concentration and high internal electric fields are inferred, offering to benefit designs of lateral TMDC devices. B. ;土木工程學系Department of Civil EngineeringA new, simple method is presented for deriving the instability potential of thin plates, based on the equilibrium conditions and constitutive law for incremental forces considering the geometric nonlinear effect. First, the equations of equilibrium are established for the plate at the last calculated C-1 and current deformed C-2 states, from which the equilibrium equations for the incremental forces at C-2 are derived. Then, the incremental forces are derived as the summation of two parts: (1) the part from the increase of the Cauchy stresses at C-1 to the 2nd Piola-Kirchhoff stresses at C-2, which are related to the strain increments and derivable from the linear constitutive; and (2) the part by the difference between the 2nd Piola-Kirchhoff and 1st Piola-Kirchhoff stresses, which are related to the cross-sectional forces at C-1 and rigid displacements. Based on the previous concept, the rigid body rule and coordinate indifference of tensor expressions, the constitutive law for incremental forces including the geometric nonlinear effect is derived. Further, by the variational principle, the following instability potentials are derived: delta U-GB caused by the balance conditions for initial forces, delta U-GC caused by the constitutive law for incremental forces, and delta U-GR caused by the rotation of boundary moments. Consequently, the total instability potential is presented for the plate in the virtual work form. The present approach is self-explanatory, which requires only simple integration operations. Moreover, the two essential conditions are satisfied: equilibrium conditions for incremental forces and rigid body rule. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the rationality of the present plate theory compared with the conventional one.Item type:Item, Modeling e-loyalty: a moderated-mediation model(2018-12-10) ;Lin, Chieh-Peng ;Chiu, Chou-Kang ;Liu, Chu-Mei ;Chen, Kuang-JungHsiao, Chieh-YuThis work proposes a research model that elaborates upon the development of e-loyalty based on the signaling theory and attachment theory. In the model, e-loyalty is indirectly related to both visual appeal and an e-tailer's service reputation through the full mediation of trust and affection. At the same time, the relationships between trust and e-loyalty and between affection and e-loyalty are hypothetically moderated by an e-tailer's service reputation. The proposed hypotheses of this research were empirically tested using data from working professionals in high-tech firms in terms of online retailing. This study surveyed the same research participants at two different time points, one month apart, to verify the theoretical inferences. The empirical findings herein complement the previous literature by presenting how visual appeal and an e-tailer's service reputation simultaneously influence e-loyalty through various mediating and moderating mechanisms.Item type:Item, Modal analysis of metallic screen with finite conductivity perforated by array of subwavelength rectangular flared holes(2018-12-10) ;Kehn, Malcolm Ng Mou ;交大名義發表 ;電機學院 ;National Chiao Tung UniversityCollege of Electrical and Computer EngineeringAn array of flared rectangular holes pierced through a conducting screen is treated herein by a rigorous full-wave modal analysis using the moment method entailing Green's functions for rectangular cavities and planar multilayer structures in the spectral domain as well as classical Floquet theorem and the mode-matching technique. In this way, flared holes with arbitrary taper profile that may each even be composed of different dielectric sections and which perforated metal films that may be sandwiched between multiple layers of dielectric slabs on both sides is herein treated. The eclectic permutations of geometrical, structural, and material attributes thus afforded by this generic topology facilitate correspondingly diverse investigations that may prove pivotal to the success of future explorations in search for new breakthrough discoveries and innovations in the subject of extraordinary transmission through subwavelength hole arrays, to which the herein-analyzed configuration is central. Oblique angles of incidence for both principal polarizations and metal losses incurred by imperfect conducting screens are also investigated in this work, all constituting crucial aspects that may often be neglected. The reactivity of the carbenes towards H-2 increases in the order 1<3<2. Whereas 1 is stable in solid H-2, 2 and 3 react fast under the same conditions via quantum chemical tunneling. In D-2 both 1 and 3 are stable, whereas 2 slowly reacts. The different reactivity of the three carbenes is rationalized in terms of differing carbene stabilization energies.Item type:Item, Room-Temperature Ferroelectricity in Hexagonally Layered alpha-In2Se3 Nanoflakes down to the Monolayer Limit(2018-12-12) ;Xue, Fei ;Hu, Weijin ;Lee, Ko-Chun ;Lu, Li-SyuanZhang, Junwei2D ferroelectric material has emerged as an attractive building block for high density data storage nanodevices. Although monolayer van der Waals ferroelectrics have been theoretically predicted, a key experimental breakthrough for such calculations is still not realized. Here, hexagonally stacking alpha-In2Se3 nanoflake, a rarely studied van der Waals polymorph, is reported to exhibit out-of-plane (OOP) and in-plane (IP) ferroelectricity at room temperature. Ferroelectric multidomain states in a hexagonal alpha-In2Se3 nanoflake with uniform thickness can survive to 6 nm. Most strikingly, the electric-field-induced polarization switching and hysteresis loop are, respectively, observed down to the bilayer and monolayer (approximate to 1.2 nm) thicknesses, which designates it as the thinnest layered ferroelectric and verifies the corresponding theoretical calculation. In addition, two types of ferroelectric nanodevices employing the OOP and IP polarizations in 2H alpha-In2Se3 are developed, which are applicable for nonvolatile memories and heterostructure-based nanoelectronics/optoelectronics.Item type:Item, BINARY-CODE TRANSLATION DEVICE AND METHOD(2018-12-13) ;Wuu YANGTsung-Chun LINA binary-code translation device includes a translation circuit, a memory and a processor. The processor executes a first program code translated from a second code by the translation circuit. The first program code is temporarily stored in the memory and has a program execution address. At least one function library is temporarily stored in the memory and includes a first and a second function, which are located at a first and a second function address in the memory respectively. When the processor is still executing the first program code and calls the first function, the translation circuit translates the first program code to acquire the second function subsequent to the first function, and the processor acquires the second function address. When the first program code calls the first function and the first function is executed completely, the processor directly executes the second function without returning to the program execution address.Item type:Item, Solution-Based Micro- and Nanoscale Metal Oxide Structures Formed by Direct Patterning for Electro-Optical Applications(2018-12-13) ;Yeh, Chun-Cheng ;Zan, Hsiao-Wen ;Soppera, Olivier ;光電工程學系光電工程研究所Due to their transparency and tunable electrical, optical, and magnetic properties, metal oxide thin films and structures have many applications in electro-optical devices. In recent years, solution processing combined with direct-patterning techniques such as micro-/nanomolding, inkjet printing, e-jet printing, e-beam writing, and photopatterning has drawn much attention because of the inexpensive and simple fabrication process that avoids using capital-intensive vacuum deposition systems and chemical etching. Furthermore, practical applications of solution direct-patterning techniques with metal oxide structures are demonstrated in thin-film transistors and biochemical sensors on a wide range of substrates. Since direct-patterning techniques enable low-cost fabrication of nanoscale metal oxide structures, these methods are expected to accelerate the development of nanoscale devices and systems based on metal oxide components in important application fields such as flexible electronics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and human health monitoring. Here, a review of the fabrication procedures, advantages, limitations, and applications of the main direct-patterning methods for making metal oxide structures is presented. The goal is to highlight the examples with the most promising perspective from the recent literature.Item type:Item, Measurement of the Electron Antineutrino Oscillation with 1958 Days of Operation at Daya Bay(2018-12-14) ;Adey, D. ;An, F. P. ;Balantekin, A. B. ;Band, H. R.Bishai, M.We report a measurement of electron antineutrino oscillation from the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment with nearly 4 million reactor (nu) over bar (e) inverse beta decay candidates observed over 1958 days of data collection. The installation of a flash analog-to-digital converter readout system and a special calibration campaign using different source enclosures reduce uncertainties in the absolute energy calibration to less than 0.5% for visible energies larger than 2 MeV. The uncertainty in the cosmogenic Li-9 and He-8 background is reduced from 45% to 30% in the near detectors. A detailed investigation of the spent nuclear fuel history improves its uncertainty from 100% to 30%. Analysis of the relative (nu) over bar (e) rates and energy spectra among detectors yields sin(2)2 theta(13) = 0.0856 +/- 0.0029 and Delta m(32)(2) = (2.471(-0.070)(+0.068)) x 10(-3) eV(2) assuming the normal hierarchy, and Delta m(32)(2) = -(2.575(-0.070)(+0.068)) x 10(-3) eV(2) assuming the inverted hierarchy.Item type:Item, Development of a highly sensitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) through use of polyprotein G-expressing cell-based microplates(2018-12-14) ;Chen, Yi-Jou ;Chen, Michael ;Hsieh, Yuan-Chin ;Su, Yu-ChengWang, Chang-HungThe sensitivity of traditional enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) is limited by the low binding avidity and heterogeneous orientation of capture antibodies coated on polystyrene-based microplates. Here, we developed a highly sensitive ELISA strategy by fixing poly-protein G-expressing cells on microplates to improve the coating amount and displayed orientation of capture antibodies. One or eight repeated fragment crystallisable (Fc) binding domains of protein G are stably expressed on the surface of BALB/c 3T3 cells (termed 1pG cells or 8pG cells), which then act as highly antibody-trapping microparticles. The 8pG cells showed higher antibody-trapping ability than the 1pG cells did. The antibody-coating amount of the 8pG cell-based microplates was 1.5-23 times and 1.2-6.8 times higher than that of traditional polystyrene-based and commercial protein G-based microplates, respectively. The 8pG cell-based microplates were then applied to an anti-IFN-alpha sandwich ELISA and an anti-CTLA4 competitive ELISA, respectively, and dramatically enhanced their detection sensitivity. Importantly, direct coating unpurified capture antibody produced by mammalian cells did not impair the antigen-capturing function of 8pG cell-based microplates. The 8pG cell-based microplates exhibited a significant improvement in antibody-coating amount and preserved the homogeneous orientation of capture antibodies, making them a potential replacement for traditional microplates in various formats of ELISAs.Item type:Item, Structural insights into the duplex DNA processing of TREX2(2018-12-14) ;Cheng, Hiu-Lo ;Lin, Chun-Ting ;Huang, Kuan-Wei ;Wang, ShuyingLin, Yeh-TungThe three prime repair exonuclease 2 (TREX2) is an essential 3'- to-5' exonuclease that functions in cell proliferation, genome integrity and skin homeostasis maintenance. The abnormal expression level of TREX2 can result in broken chromosome, increased susceptibility to skin carcinogenesis and Psoriasis. However, the molecular mechanisms of how TREX2 binds and processes its natural substrates, dsDNA or chromosomal DNA, to maintain genome stability remain unclear. In this study, we present four new crystal structures: apo-TREX2, TREX2 in complex with two different dsDNA substrates, and TREX2 in complex with a processed dsDNA product. Analysis of the structures reveals that TREX2 stacks with the 5'-terminal of dsDNA by a Leu20-Pro21-Asn22 cluster for precisely trimming the 3'-overhang. In addition, TREX2 specifically interacts with the nonscissile strand of dsDNA by an alpha-helix-loop region. The unique interaction patterns of the TREX2-dsDNA complex highlight the requirement of long double-stranded region for TREX2 binding and provide evidence of the functional role of TREX2 in processing chromosomal DNA. Moreover, the non-processive property of TREX2 is elucidated by the structure of TREX2-product complex. Our work discloses the first structural basis of the molecular interactions between TREX2 and its substrates and unravels the mechanistic actions of TREX2.Item type:Item, RETRACTION: Growth behavior and microstructure evolution of ZnO nanorods grown on Si in aqueous solution (Retraction of Vol 274, Pg 438, 2004)(2018-12-15) ;Liou, Sz-Chian ;Hsiao, Chi-Sheng ;Chen, San-Yuan ;材料科學與工程學系Department of Materials Science and EngineeringItem type:Item, Probing algogenic organic matter (AOM) by size-exclusion chromatography to predict AOM-derived disinfection by-product formation(2018-12-15) ;Hua, Lap-Cuong ;Lin, Jr-Lin ;Chao, Shu-Ju ;Huang, Chihpin環境工程研究所High-performance size exclusion chromatography (HPSEC) coupled with peak-fitting technique was used to probe molecular weight (MW) properties of algogenic organic matter (AOM). The qualitative and quantitative MW information derived was used to predict AOM-derived disinfection by-product (DBP) formation. We resolved overlapping HPSEC chromatograms of all AOM samples into six major peaks with R-2 > 0.996. This study gave significant insight into the HPSEC profiles of AOM, in which resolved peaks A and B (biopolymers) and peak C (humic substances) showed a strong correlation with the formation of carbonaceous-DBPs (C-DBPs). This likely resulted from the abundance of aromatic structures and conjugated C=C double bonds in their chemical nature. Our results also indicated the importance of algal cells, including intra-cellular and cell-bound organic matter, over extra-cellular organic matter as precursors to C-DBP formation. The application of the information extracted from HPSEC profiles associated with the fluorescent components of AOM showed great improvements in the predictability of THMs, HAAs, and C-DBPs with R-2 > 0.7 and p < 0.05. The outcome of this study will significantly benefit effective control of AOM-derived DBP formation by the chlorination of eutrophic waters. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. When the filter is mounted on a moving or rotating object, the displacement on the object can be observed through the changes in the resonant wavelength, which are detected by the GGP-GMR filter. In this paper, the GGP-GMR filter comprised grating periods from 250 to 550 nm with 2-nm increments. Each period comprised 100 repeated cycles, resulting in a total length of 6 mm. For linear displacement, we achieved an average sensitivity of 67 nm/mm for a detection range of 6 mm and a theoretical limit of detection of 3 mu m. To demonstrate the measurement of angular displacement, the GGP-GMR filter was attached to a cylinder with a diameter of 8 cm. The experimental results revealed an average sensitivity of 51.7 nm/degrees for a range of 7 degrees and an experimental limit of detection of 0.002 degrees.Item type:Item, Overexpressed Cep170 localizes as acentrosomal puncta along neurites and promotes neurite outgrowth.(2018-12-15) ;Goh, A. ;Huang, H. ;Hwang, E. ;生物科技學系生物資訊及系統生物研究所Item type:Item, An optogenetic approach to examine the role of cytoplasmic Ran in acentrosomal microtubule nucleation in neurons.(2018-12-15) ;Lo, W. ;Hsu, C. ;Chiu, H. ;Hwang, E.生物科技學系Item type:Item, 一年十二月 今年過後(2018-12-16) ;黃淳妤 ;Department of Communication and Technology傳播與科技學系一年有十二個月。
