Item type:Item, Metamagnetic transitions and magnetoelectric coupling in acentric and nonpolar Pb2MnO4(2019-05-16) ;Kakarla, D. Chandrasekhar ;Wu, H. C. ;Hsieh, D. J. ;Sun, P. J.Dai, G. J.Acentric and nonpolar Pb2MnO4 was predicted to exhibit unique multipiezo induced magnetoelectric (ME) phenomena. In this paper, we present the results of magnetization as well as dielectric properties as a function of temperature (T), magnetic field (H), pressure (P), and electric field (E) primarily to address the ME coupling and identify the underlying mechanism behind this phenomenon. Magnetization and specific-heat measurements reveal the antiferromagnetic ordering of Mn4+ spins at temperature T-N= 17 K. Metamagnetic transitions at three critical magnetic fields H-c1, H-c2 and H-c3) are observed for T < T-N and H > 3.5 T. Further, the influences of pressure and magnetic field on H-c1 and H-c2 are investigated. The T-N, H-c1, and H(c2)( )all decrease with increasing external pressure. The dielectric anomaly observed at T-N is influenced by applying a magnetic field of H > 3.5 T. However, the electric field has minimal influence on the metamagnetic transition. The scaling between dielectric constant and magnetization meaningfully resolves the existence of magnetic-field-induced higher-order ME coupling in Pb2MnO4 at T < T-N and H > 3.5 T.Item type:Item, NO gas sensor based on ZnGa2O4 epilayer grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition(2019-05-16) ;Wu, Min-Ru ;Li, Wei-Zhong ;Tung, Chun-Yi ;Huang, Chiung-YiChiang, Yi-HungA gas sensor based on a ZnGa2O4(ZGO) thin film grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition operated under the different temperature from 25 degrees C to 300 degrees C is investigated in this study. This sensor shows great sensing properties at 300 degrees C. The sensitivity of this sensor is 22.21 as exposed to 6.25 ppm of NO and its response time is 57 s. Besides that, the sensitivities are 1.18, 1.27, 1.06, and 1.00 when exposed to NO2(500 ppb), SO2 (125 ppm), CO (125 ppm), and CO2 (1500 ppm), respectively. These results imply that the ZGO gas sensor not only has high sensitivity, but also has great selectivity for NO gas. Moreover, the obtained results suggest that ZGO sensors are suitable for the internet of things(IOT) applications.Item type:Item, 王心凌出席代言活動 粉絲力挺(2019-05-19) ;卓瑋哲 ;Department of Communication and Technology傳播與科技學系【2019愛凌依舊 甜蜜天后王心凌】專題

The influences of the different gate insulator (GI) materials and the scalings of GI thickness, a-IWO channel thickness, and channel lengths on the a-IWO NS JL transistors (a-IWO NS-JLTs) have been studied for the purposes of low operation voltage (gate voltage <= 2V) and high performance. The 2D-like a-IWO NS-JLTs exhibit low operation voltage, low source/drain (S/D) contact resistance (R-c) and other key electrical characteristics, such as high field-effect mobility (mu(FE)), near ideal subthreshold swing (S.S.), and large ON/OFF currents ratio (I-ON/I-OFF) The remarkable device characteristics also make the proposed 2D-like a-IWO NS-JLTs promising for system-on-panel (SoP) and vertically stacked (VS) hybrid CMOS applications.Item type:Item, Full proximity treatment of topological superconductors in Josephson-junction architectures(2019-05-21) ;Setiawan, F. ;Wu, Chien-Te ;Levin, K. ;電子物理學系Department of ElectrophysicsExperiments on planar Josephson-junction architectures have recently been shown to provide an alternative way of creating topological superconductors hosting accessible Majorana modes. These zero-energy modes can be found at the ends of a one-dimensional channel in the junction of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) proximitized by two spatially separated superconductors. The channel, which is below the break between the superconductors, is not in direct contact with the superconducting leads, so that proximity coupling is expected to be weaker and less well controlled than in the simple nanowire configuration widely discussed in the literature. This provides a strong incentive for this paper which investigates the nature of proximitization in these Josephson-junction architectures. At a microscopic level we demonstrate how and when it can lead to topological phases. We do so by going beyond simple tunneling models through solving self-consistently the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations of a heterostructure multicomponent system involving two spatially separated s-wave superconductors in contact with a normal Rashba spin-orbit-coupled 2DEG. Importantly, within our self-consistent theory we present ways of maximizing the proximity-induced superconducting gap by studying the effect of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling, chemical potential mismatch between the superconductor and 2DEG, and sample geometry on the gap. Finally, we note (as in experiment) a Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov phase is also found to appear in the 2DEG channel, albeit under circumstances which are not ideal for the topological superconducting phase.Item type:Item, Carbonaceous Anodes Derived from Sugarcane Bagasse for Sodium-Ion Batteries(2019-05-21) ;Rath, Purna Chandra ;Patra, Jagabandhu ;Huang, Hao-Tzu ;Bresser, DominicWu, Tzi-YiTo realize the sustainability of Na-ion batteries (NIBs) for large-scale energy storage applications, a resource-abundant and cost-effective anode material is required. In this study, sugarcane bagasse (SB), one of the most abundant types of biowaste, is chosen as the carbon precursor to produce a hard carbon (HC) anode for NIBs. SB has a great balance of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, which prevents full graphitization of the pyrolyzed carbon but ensures a sufficiently ordered carbon structure for Na+ transport. Compared with HC derived from waste apples, which are pectin-rich and have less cellulose than SB, SB-derived HC (SB-HC) has fewer defects and a lower oxygen content. SB-HC thus has a higher first-cycle sodiation/desodiation coulombic efficiency and better cycling stability. In addition, SB-HC has a unique flake-like morphology, which can shorten the Na+ diffusion length, and higher electronic conductivity (owing to more sp(2)-hybridized carbon), resulting in superior high-rate charge-discharge performance to apple-derived HC. The effects of pyrolysis temperature on the material characteristics and electrochemical properties, evaluated by using chronopotentiometry, cyclic voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, are systematically investigated for both kinds of HC.
