Item type:Item, Ordered Structures in Liquid Water as Studied by Raman Spectroscopy and the Phonon Confinement Model(2019-06-01) ;Korepanov, Vitaly, I ;Hamaguchi, Hiro-o ;應用化學系 ;應用化學系分子科學碩博班Department of Applied ChemistryRaman spectroscopy and the phonon confinement model (PCM) have been used to study the two ordered structures in liquid water, "structured hydrogen bonded water" and "nanoice", whose existence has recently been confirmed by a hyperspectral analysis of 140 temperature dependent Raman spectra (-23 to 45 degrees C). The PCM spectral simulation based on the ice I-h structure indicates that vibrations are limited within a short range of few molecules in "structured hydrogen bonded water", while they extend to about a 2-4 nm range in "Nano-ice".Item type:Item, A Deep Sequential Learning Architecture for Xerostomia Prediction in Parotid Glands Using CBCT and Rigid-Registered Dose Images(2019-06-01) ;Tseng, H. ;Rosen, B. ;Chien, J. T. ;Mierzwa, M.Ten Haken, R.Item type:Item, AgriTalk: IoT for Precision Soil Farming of Turmeric Cultivation(2019-06-01) ;Chen, Wen-Liang ;Lin, Yi-Bing ;Lin, Yun-Wei ;Chen, RobertLiao, Jyun-KaiThis paper proposes AgriTalk, an inexpensive Internet of Things (IoT) platform for precision farming of soil cultivation. We conduct experiments on turmeric cultivation, which indicates that the turmeric quality is significantly enhanced through AgriTalk. Specifically, the curcumin concentration is up to 4500-5500 mg/100 g, which is five times more than existing products. We demonstrate how to intuitively configure the connections between the sensors and the actuators with the desired farming intelligence, and to effectively maintain AgriTalk for precision farming. We conduct measurement, analytic analysis, and simulation experiments to investigate the IoT message delays of AgriTalk. This paper indicates that the delays for automatic control and automatic-manual control switching with long distances (more than 30 km) are very short (less than 0.2 s) and AgriTalk can easily respond to quick and dynamic change of the field environment conditions in soil cultivation.Item type:Item, Area-Efficient On-Chip Transient Detection Circuit for System-Level ESD Protection Against Transient-Induced Malfunction(2019-06-01) ;Chen, Wen-Chieh ;Ker, Ming-Dou ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsA new on-chip transient detection circuit with superior area efficiency is proposed against the system malfunction resulting from system-level electrostatic discharge ( ESD) events. With dual-latched structure, a better area efficiency can be achieved by the reduced time constant inquiry. The proposed transient detection circuit with a silicon area of 40 mu m x 60 mu m has been fabricated in a 0.18-mu m CMOS process with 1.8-V devices. The detection sensitivity has been successfully verified under +/- 200 V system-level ESD tests. To achieve the "Class B" specification of IEC 61000-4-2 standard, the proposed transient detection circuit serves as a safety guard for the system. Through the hardware/firmware co-design, the auto-recovery procedure can be activated by the proposed transient detection circuit sending out a warning signal. With the proposed transient detection circuit co-works with the system program, the immunity level of microelectronic products against the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of ESD events can be effectively improved.Item type:Item, EEG analysis of mixed-reality music rehabilitation system for post-stroke lower limb therapy(2019-06-01) ;Chang, Wei-Chiao ;Ko, Li-Wei ;Yu, Kuen-Han ;Ho, Yu-ChunChen, Chia-HsinLots of evidence and guidelines recommended that stroke patients have to do the rehabilitation all the time, but in fact, the ratio of patients doing the rehabilitation is usually less than one third. In order to enhance the rehabilitation efficacy, we develop an innovative mixed-reality music rehabilitation (MR2) system, which is consisted of an MR goggle, inertial measurement unit sensors, and an EEG system. Several music contents with different levels are implemented into the MR system. While doing the rehabilitation task, our system can monitor patient's both gait information and electroencephalographic (EEG) signals to understand the rehabilitation performance in both central and peripheral nervous systems. The MR2 system has been pilot testing on two stroke patients and three healthy controls. Experiment results show that the patient's motor function is significantly activating when wearing the MR2 system during the rehabilitation task. Furthermore, the gait analysis results also show that flexion angle of the hemiplegic knee during walking was significantly improved when following the tempo of the MR music content in the rehabilitation. The pilot testing results provide new insights into the understanding of complex brain functions of patients actively and continuously performing the rehabilitation ordinary tasks within the mixed-reality applications.Item type:Item, Investigating Material Changes at Different Gadolinium Doping Power Levels in Indium-Tin Oxide Intended for Use as an Insulator in Resistive Switching Memory(2019-06-01) ;Lin, Chun-Chu ;Chen, Po-Hsun ;Chen, Min-Chen ;Chang, Ting-ChangLin, Chih-YangThis paper investigates material modifications induced by cosputtering indium-tin oxide (ITO) with gadolinium (Gd) at two different power levels. In addition, resistance switching (RS) properties were also verified for use as an insulator in resistive random access memory (RRAM). Comparison of scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements for the two different cosputtering powers indicated significant changes of the ITO surface. Transparency was also verified by an N&K analyzer measurement, with results indicating a constant in transparency induced by the lower power Gd doping, indicating potential for transparent applications. Furthermore, the mole fraction ratio defined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals a Gd2O3 peak, a likely reason for the ITO thin film becoming less conductive. This ITO/Gd:ITO/TiN RRAM can exhibit stable and robust RS characteristics at a lower forming voltage. In addition, lower operating voltages, including both SET and RESET voltages, can be obtained. Reliability tests including endurance and retention were carried out to confirm its RS stability. The RS mechanism of this ITO/Gd:ITO/TiN device was also investigated with the current-voltage (I-V) fitting method. Moreover, temperature effects were also applied to verify the high-resistance state (HRS) mechanism. Finally, a conduction model was proposed to clarify the RS characteristics and confirm that the ITO/Gd:ITO/TiN device is appropriate for data storage.Item type:Item, Tunable nitrogen-doped graphene sheets produced with in situ electrochemical cathodic plasma at room temperature for lithium-ion batteries(2019-06-01) ;Yen, Po-Jen ;Ilango, P. Robert ;Chiang, Ya-Chi ;Wu, Chia-WeiHsu, Yung-ChiThis paper describes a facile and tunable method, performed at room temperature and amenable to mass-production, for the preparation of nitrogen-doped graphene sheets using in situ electrochemical cathodic plasma exfoliation of a graphite/melamine composite. The plasma generated at the submerged surface of the graphite/melamine composite electrode not only exfoliated the graphite granules into graphene sheets but also induced the doping of nitrogen atoms. The sizes and morphologies of the graphene sheets, comprising four to five layers of graphene, were confirmed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Tuning the concentration of melamine in the graphite/melamine composites led to different levels of nitrogen-doping in the graphene sheets; the stability of the nitrogen-doped graphene sheets was investigated in various harsh environments. Furthermore, the use of the 4.63 at% nitrogen-doped graphene sheets as anode materials resulted in lithium-ion batteries displaying excellent performance, with a capacity of 488 mA h g(-1) at 100 mA g(-1) after 100 cycles that was better than that of the device incorporating pristine graphene sheets (344 mA h g(-1) at 100 mA g(-1) after 100 cycles). This method is a new and tunable approach for producing massive amounts of nitrogen-doped graphene sheets from graphite powder at room temperature. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. Additional radio frequency (RF) tone is generated and transmitted from central station to replace the local oscillator at wireless receiver for power detector down-conversion. To enhance spectrum efficiency, the gap between OFDM signal and RF tone is not needed. However, the down-converted signal will suffer signal-to-signal beating interference (SSBI). In this letter, we propose and successfully employ the 2 x 2 MIMO SSBI mitigation schemes to mitigate SSBI, resulting in 45% capacity improvement.Item type:Item, 108年5月11日(六)陽明大學牙醫學系牙刷盃路跑活動花絮(國立陽明大學牙醫校友會, 2019-06)顏守謙Item type:Item, Single-mode erbium fiber dual-ring laser with 60-nm workable wavelength tunability(2019-06-01) ;Yang, Y. L. ;Yeh, C. H. ;Tsai, C. K. ;Xie, Y. R.Lue, C. M.In this investigation, to reach a widely wavelength-selectable and stable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser, the unpumped EDF-based saturable absorber (SA) and dual-ring structure are used simultaneously for thickly multi-longitudinal-mode (MLM) suppression. The dual-ring scheme can spread the operation range of gain medium from 1520.0 to 1580.0 nm only by using a C-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). Moreover, the dual-ring scheme and EDF-based SA also could suppress the MLM noise for SLM oscillation. In the tuning range, the Lorentzian 3 dB linewidth is also obtained between 15 and 22 kHz in the wavelength range.Item type:Item, Highly flexible, robust, stable and high efficiency perovskite solar cells enabled by van der Waals epitaxy on mica substrate(2019-06-01) ;Jia, Chunmei ;Zhao, Xingyu ;Lai, Yu-Hong ;Zhao, JinjinWang, Pei-ChunFlexible and lightweight solar cells are promising for numerous emerging applications, and organometallic halide perovskites are particularly suitable for flexible solar cell applications. Transferring state of art high efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) processing onto a flexible substrate, however, is challenging, requiring substantial redevelopment of materials compositions, device architectures, and processing conditions. In this work, highly flexible, robust, stable, and high efficiency PSCs based on mica substrate have been successfully developed, exhibiting a champion photovoltaic conversion efficiency (PCE) of 18.0%, retaining more than 91.7% of the original PCE after 5000 cycles of large deformation bending, and being relatively stable against humidity under elevated temperature. Key to such excellent performance is the inorganic and transparent mica substrate that is chemically inert and stable under high temperature, so that processing developed for glass-based high efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) can be readily applied without modification. Furthermore, the layered mica substrate is highly flexible, and van der Waals epitaxial growth of transparent conducing ITO relaxes the mechanical constraint on the PSCs substantially, reducing the strain in the device even under large bending deformation. We believe inorganic flexible mica substrate can be used as a platform for high efficiency PSCs compatible to glass substrate, speeding up the development of flexible PSCs substantially.Item type:Item, HiAuth: Hidden Authentication for Protecting Software Defined Networks(2019-06-01) ;Abdullaziz, Osamah Ibrahiem ;Wang, Li-Chun ;Chen, Yu-Jia ;電機工程學系Department of Electrical and Computer EngineeringSoftware defined networking (SDN) enables network function programmability for ease of configuration and maintenance, and also allows network administrators to change traffic rules on the fly. However, denial of service (DoS) attacks pose security challenges on the centralized control plane of SDN. Although the transport layer security (TLS) can help secure the control plane, it is computationally intensive, complex to configure, and not mandatory in OpenFlow protocol. In this paper, we present a lightweight authentication solution, called hidden authentication (HiAuth), to protect the SDN controller by hiding the identities of the forwarding devices into the control packets via efficient bitwise operations. HiAuth is the first to incorporate information hiding techniques into OpenFlow to provide security against DoS attacks. HiAuth exploits the IP identification field of IPv4 and the transaction identification field of OpenFlow in two authentication schemes. The experimental results show that HiAuth can effectively mitigate intruder DoS attacks and provide high undetectability to attackers.Item type:Item, Investigation of the Impact of Drive Current and Phosphor Thickness on the Reliability of High Power White LED Lamp(2019-06-01) ;Singh, Preetpal ;Tan, Cher Ming ;Zhao, Wenyu ;Kuo, Hao Chung交大名義發表Lumen flux of white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) can be increased by increasing phosphor layer thickness and blue LED's drive current. Higher LED currents will lead to an increase in blue light in the output lumen along with higher temperatures which is not acceptable, and a corresponding decrease in the yellow light emission. The physical reason for this decrease is attributed to the finite phosphor particles in the layer and re-emission occurring due to scattered or back reflected blue light rays. A parameter called blue to yellow ratio (BYR) is used which can lead to a current with maximum phosphor utilization while preventing the LED output color to shift from white toward blue. As the degree of impact on reliability from drive current and thickness is different, a careful adjustment of the drive current and phosphor layer thickness shall be made for a given lumen. Response surface method is employed to obtain an optimal combination of the current and thickness where the temperature is the minimum for a given lumen level. The temperature difference for different combinations of current and thickness for a given lumen can be as high as 15 degrees C as found in this paper.Item type:Item, Functional Gold Nanoparticles as Sensing Probes for Concanavalin A and as Imaging Agents for Cancer Cells(2019-06-01) ;Chen, Wen-Jie ;Kandasamy, Karthikeyan ;Chen, Yu-Chie ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryConcanavalin A (ConA), which exists in jack bean, can specifically bind to either mannose or glucose units. Given that ConA is a potential anticancer agent for antihepatoma therapy, analytical methods that can be used for ConA detection in plant extracts or biological fluids are important. Labeling agents that can be used to distinguish cancer cells from noncancer cells are also useful for cancer diagnostics. In this study, maltose-directed synthesis of Au nanoparticles (NPs; Au@Maltose NPs) were generated from one-pot reactions and used as sensing probes toward ConA tetrameric forms. Results showed that the binding affinity between Au@Maltose NPs and ConA was desirable with a dissociation constant as low as similar to 6.66 x 10(-8) M. Moreover, the limit of detection against ConA was estimated to be similar to 23 pM, which was the lowest ever reported when Au NPs were used as sensing probes against ConA. Moreover, Au@Maltose NPs were used as imaging agents for ConA-treated cancer cells, such as human hepatoma HepG2 cells and human breast T-47D cancer cells, which can overexpress mannose N-glycan units on the cell membrane. NIH 3T3 fibroblast cells, which are noncancer cells, were used for comparison. Results demonstrated that the imaging agent made from combined ConA and Au@Maltose NPs can be used to distinguish cancer cells from noncancer cells.Item type:Item, Local institution contingencies for the effects of local market orientation on foreign SMEs’ performances: Evidence from an emerging market(國立交通大學 經營管理研究所, 2019-06) ;Tsai-Ju Liao ;Sheng-Hung Yu ;I-Chien LiuTai-Ying Chiou外國中小企業 (SME) 常採用當地市場導向策略,以獲取新興經濟發展的機會。 Item type:Item, Time Series Classification With Multivariate Convolutional Neural Network(2019-06-01) ;Liu, Chien-Liang ;Hsaio, Wen-HoarTu, Yao-ChungTime series classification is an important research topic in machine learning and data mining communities, since time series data exist in many application domains. Recent studies have shown that machine learning algorithms could benefit from good feature representation, explaining why deep learning has achieved breakthrough performance in many tasks. In deep learning, the convolutional neural network (CNN) is one of the most well-known approaches, since it incorporates feature learning and classification task in a unified network architecture. Although CNN has been successfully applied to image and text domains, it is still a challenge to apply CNN to time series data. This paper proposes a tensor scheme along with a novel deep learning architecture called multivariate convolutional neural network (MVCNN) for multivariate time series classification, in which the proposed architecture considers multivariate and lag-feature characteristics. We evaluate our proposed method with the prognostics and health management (PHM) 2015 challenge data, and compare with several algorithms. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method outperforms the other alternatives using the prediction score, which is the evaluation metric used by the PHM Society 2015 data challenge. Besides performance evaluation, we provide detailed analysis about the proposed method.Item type:Item, Home Healthcare Matching Service System Using the Internet of Things(2019-06-01) ;Lin, Tzong-Shyan ;Liu, Pei-Yu ;Lin, Chun-Cheng ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementHome healthcare services enable patients to live in an environment and amongst people that they are familiar with while receiving the healthcare that they need. To provide such an arrangement, readings from healthcare devices are collected and analyzed on a regular basis to determine healthcare services needed by patients, and then the services needed are matched with a limited number of healthcare professionals that are capable of providing the services needed. To meet these requirements, this work presents a home healthcare matching service system that enables patients to feel that the system is in charge of their healthcare while licensing requirements, legal requirements, and travel schedule restrictions of the healthcare professionals are met. Rather than just focusing on satisfying needs of healthcare providers or professionals, this system takes a balanced approach by satisfying preferences of the patients. In particular, patients are able to prioritize their specific preferences and the system will try to satisfy them as fully as possible rather than ignoring the patient preferences in its entirety when a feasible schedule for healthcare professionals cannot be scheduled while meeting patient preferences in its entirety.Item type:Item, The fabrication and application of Ni-DNA nanowire-based nanoelectronic devices(2019-06-01) ;Chang, Pang-Chia ;Chang, Chia-Yu ;Jian, Wen-Bin ;Yuan, Chiun-JyeChen, Yu-ChangDNA is a self-assembled, double stranded natural molecule that can chelate and align nickel ions between its base pairs. The fabrication of a DNA-guided nickel ion chain (Ni-DNA) device was successful, as indicated by the conducting currents exhibiting a Ni ion redox reaction-driven negative differential resistance effect, a property unique to mem-elements (1). The redox state of nickel ions in the Ni-DNA device is programmable by applying an external bias with different polarities and writing times (2). The multiple states of Ni-DNA-based memristive and memcapacitive systems were characterized (3). As such, the development of Ni-DNA nanowire device-based circuits in the near future is proposed.Item type:Item, Channel orientation effect on endwall heat transfer in rotating cooling passages with pin-fins(2019-06-01) ;Huang, Szu-Chi ;Wang, Chen-Chih ;Liu, Yao-Hsien ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringHeat transfer was experimentally measured using a rotating pin-fin channel involving two channel orientations, namely 90 degrees and 150 degrees, with respect to a rotating axis. A rectangular channel with an aspect ratio of 4:1 was selected to study internal cooling near the trailing edge of a turbine blade. A newly developed method of liquid crystal thermography along with stroboscopic photography was used to obtain detailed heat transfer contours on an endwall surface. The pin-fin arrays were designed in either inline or staggered patterns, and the Reynolds number ranged from 5,000 to 20,000. The pressurized air flow acted as the working fluid, and the highest rotation number was thus 0.39. The influence of rotation was greater on the inline array than on the staggered array, engendering higher heat transfer enhancement on the leading and trailing surfaces. Compared with the other orientation, the inclined orientation (150 degrees) engendered a larger spanwise heat transfer variation because of the shifted rotation-induced secondary flows. The inline array exhibited the highest rotation-induced heat transfer enhancement at the 90 degrees orientation, and the highest enhancement levels were 90% and 40% on the trailing and leading surfaces, respectively.
