Item type:Item, Shape-Tunable SrTiO3 Crystals Revealing Facet-Dependent Optical and Photocatalytic Properties(2019-06-06) ;Hsieh, Pei-Lun ;Naresh, Gollapally ;Huang, Yu-Sheng ;Tsao, Chun-WenHsu, Yung-JungSrTiO3 cubes with tunable sizes of 160-290 nm have been synthesized by mixing TiCl4, SrCl2, and LiOH in pure ethanol or a water/ethanol mixed solution at just 70 degrees C for 3 h. Replacing water/ethanol with water/hexanol and water/ethylene glycol, and fine tuning the amounts of other reagents, resulted in the formation of edge-truncated cubes and {100}-truncated rhombic dodecahedra, respectively. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy characterization, supported by Rietveld refinement analysis, have revealed shape-dependent tuning in lattice parameters. The cubes display slight size-related optical band shifts, and they show clearly more blue-shifted light absorption than the other particles exposing significant {110} faces. The {100}-truncated rhombic dodecahedra are far more efficient than cubes at photodegradation of methylene blue and photocatalyzed hydrogen evolution from water in the presence of methanol. The photocatalytic activity variation should arise from different degrees of surface band bending for the {100} and {110} faces of SrTiO3, suggesting surface facet control as a strategy for enhancing photocatalyzed hydrogen production.Item type:Item, Infrared Spectra of the 1-Methylvinoxide Radical and Anion Isolated in Solid Argon(2019-06-06) ;Lin, Meng-Yeh ;Huang, Tzu-Ping ;Wu, Pei-Zhen ;Chin, Chih-HaoWu, Yu-JongThe 1-methylvinoxy radical (1-MVO) is an important intermediate in the combustion and tropospheric reaction of OH. However, the vibrational structures of this species and its anionic form, 1-methylvinoxide anion (1-MVO-), are not fully known. Thus, in this study, we obtained the infrared (IR) absorption spectra of 1-MVO and 1-MVO- trapped in a solid Ar matrix. 1-MVO- anions were produced by electron bombardment during matrix deposition of Ar containing a small amount of acetone. The anions were destroyed upon irradiation at 675, 365, and 160 nm, although the formation of 1-MVO was only observed upon irradiation at 675 nm. The assignment of the IR bands of 1-MVO- and 1-MVO was based on the expected chemistry upon photoexcitation and comparison of line wavenumbers, relative IR intensities, and D-isotopic shift ratios with those predicted at the B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory.Item type:Item, Functional Correlates of Resting-State Connectivity in the Default Mode Network of Heroin Users on Methadone Treatment and Medication-Free Therapeutic Community Program(2019-06-06) ;Kuo, Li-Wei ;Lin, Pei-Sheng ;Lin, Shih-Yen ;Liu, Ming-FangJan, HengtaiThe treatment of heroin addiction is a complex process involving changes in addictive behavior and brain functioning. The goal of this study was to explore the brain default mode network (DMN) functional connectivity using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and decision-making performance based on the Cambridge gambling task in heroin-dependent individuals undergoing methadone treatment (MT, n = 11) and medication-free faith-based therapeutic community program (TC, n = 11). The DMN involved the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), left inferior parietal lobe (IPLL), right inferior parietal lobe (IPLR), and posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) subregions for all participants in both the MT and TC groups. Compared with MT, TC had an increased functional connectivity in IPLL-IPLR and IPLR-PCC and decreased functional connectivity in mPFC-IPLL and IPLL-PCC. Both groups exhibited no significant difference in the regional rs-fMRI metric [i.e., amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF)]. In the analysis of the neural correlates for decision-making performance, risk adjustment was positively associated with ALFF in IPLL for all participants considering the group effects. The involvement of IPL in decision-making performance and treatment response among heroin-dependent patients warrants further investigation.Item type:Item, Early Epinephrine Improves the Stabilization of Initial Post-resuscitation Hemodynamics in Children With Non-shockable Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest(2019-06-06) ;Lin, Yan-Ren ;Li, Chao-Jui ;Huang, Cheng-Chieh ;Lee, Tsung-HanChen, Tren-YiBackground: In children with non-shockable out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, early epinephrine (EE) might help to establish the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and be associated with survival. In the present study, we aimed to analyze the effects of EE on outcomes and post-resuscitation hemodynamics in children with non-shockable OHCA. Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of data from 216 children (<19 years) who had suffered non-traumatic and non-shockable OHCA and received epinephrine for resuscitation (Jan 1, 2006-Dec 31, 2014). Demographics, pre-/in-hospital information, and the time to the first dose of epinephrine were recorded. Early post-resuscitation hemodynamics (the first hour after sustained ROSC), survival and good neurological outcomes (Pediatric Cerebral Performance Category Scales 1 or 2) were analyzed by the time to epinephrine-classified as early (EE): <15 min, intermediate (IE): 15-30 min, or late (LE): >30 min. Results: Twenty-eight (13.0%) children survived to discharge, but only 17 (7.9%) had good neurological outcomes. In all, 41 (18.9%) children received EE; in comparison to IE and LE, this was significantly associated with tachycardia (73.9%) in the post-resuscitation period (p < 0.05). Tachycardia (OR: 7.41, 95% CI: 1.96-29.31) and hypertension (OR: 6.03, 95% CI: 1.85-13.77) were significantly associated with EE after adjusting for confounding factors. EE was also significantly associated with better overall outcomes than ME and LE (any ROSC, sustained ROSC, survival to the intensive care unit, admission, survival to discharge and good neurological outcomes, all p < 0.05). Conclusions: EE helped to establish ROSC but was also associated with more tachycardia and hypertension in the early post-resuscitation period. In children with non-traumatic and non-shockable OHCA, EE was associated with a higher survival rate and better neurological outcomes than were ME and LE.Item type:Item, Communication-Potential of the pi-Gate InAs HEMTs for High-Speed and Low-Power Logic Applications(2019-06-07) ;Yao, Jing-Neng ;Lin, Yueh-Chin ;Wong, Ying-Chieh ;Huang, Ting-JuiHsu, Heng-TungComposite channel (In0.65Ga0.35As/InAs/In0.65Ga0.35As) high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) with pi-gate structure were investigated for high-speed and low-power logic applications. The conventional and tri-gate MESA HEMTs were compared with the pi-gate device for evaluation. The pi-gate device exhibited the best maximum transconductance value of 1584 mS/mm, on-state current of 332mA/mm, subthreshold swing (SS) of 78.1 mV/decade, and I-ON/I-OFF ratio of 3 x 10(4) at V-DS = 0.5 V at room temperature. These results indicated that the designed pi-gate InAs devices improve the electrical characteristics of InAs HEMTs for high-speed and low-power logic applications. With the designed electrodes (MoO3/Al vs. Al), the built-in field in the vertical diode is greatly reduced and hence the diode can be turned on at a very low voltage. By producing nanometer pores in the top electrode, the diode becomes a very sensitive gas sensor to detect ammonia in parts-per-billion (ppb) concentrations. Upon reducing the voltage from 5 V to 0.05 V, this sensor device shows an over 5-times enhancement in the sensitivity. The air-stable sensing film also exhibits a lifetime of 30 days in air. Finally, by connecting with an organic photovoltaic (OPV) device, the gas sensor can be directly powered and switched on by irradiating light on the OPV.Item type:Item, Conductive films based on sandwich structures of carbon nanotubes/silver nanowires for stretchable interconnects(2019-06-07) ;Jheng, Li-Cheng ;Hsiao, Chi-Hui ;Ko, Wen-Ching ;Hsu, Steve Lien-ChungHuang, Yu-LunA variety of conductive films made of a hybrid of two conductive nanomaterials have been used as stretchable electrodes or interconnectors, desirable for stretchable electronic devices. Their intrinsic stretchability of electrical conductivity allows for accommodating mechanical strain to a certain extent under various deformations. However, few efforts have been made to enhance the interactions between two conductive components in a hybrid system. Herein, we reported new conductive films with tri-layer sandwich structures based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and Ag nanowires (NWs), encapsulated in silicone rubber, exhibited high stretchability along with insignificant piezoresistivity. They are suitable to be stretchable interconnectors. A successive vacuum filtration method was used to stack the conductive components layer by layer. The effects of the stacking sequence and the interactions between layers on the stretchability and stability of the electrical properties under mechanical deformations were studied. In the case of a tri-layer conductive film comprising two CNT outer layers and one AgNW central layer in the presence of enhanced interfacial interactions, it showed exceptionally durability in withstanding repetitive deformations.Item type:Item, An indoor light-activated 3D cone-shaped MoS2 bilayer-based NO gas sensor with PPb-level detection at room-temperature(2019-06-07) ;Chen, Yu-Ze ;Wang, Sheng-Wen ;Yang, Chun-Chuan ;Chung, Chieh-HanWang, Yi-ChungUtilization of light to boost the performance of gas sensors allows us to operate sensor devices at room temperature. Here, we, for the first time, demonstrated an indoor light-activated 3D cone-shaped MoS2 bilayer-based NO gas sensor with ppb-level detection operated at room-temperature. Large-area coneshaped (CS)-MoS2 bilayers were grown by depositing 2 nm-thick MoO3 layers on a 2'' three-dimensional (3D) cone-patterned sapphire substrate (CPSS) followed by a sulfurization process via chemical vapor deposition. Because the exposed area of MoS2 bilayers is increased by 30%, the CS-MoS2 gas sensor (GS) demonstrated excellent performance with a response of 470% and a fast response time of 25 s after exposure to 1 ppm of NO gas illuminated by ultraviolet (UV) light with a wavelength of 365 nm. Such extraordinary performance at room temperature is attributed to the enhanced light absorption because of the light scattering effect caused by the 3D configuration and photo-desorption induced by UV illumination. For NO concentrations ranging from 2 ppm down to 0.06 ppm, the CS-MoS2 GS demonstrated a stable sensing behavior with a high response and fast response time (470% and 25 s at 2 ppm NO) because of the light absorption enhanced by the 3D structure and photo-desorption under constant UV illumination. The CS-MoS2 GS exhibits a high sensitivity (189.2 R% ppm-1), allowing the detection of NO gas at 0.06 ppm in 130 s. In addition, the 3D cone-shaped structure prolonged the presence of sulfur vapor around MoO3, allowing MoO3 to react with sulfur completely. Furthermore, the CS-MoS2 GS using an indoor lighting to detect NO gas at room temperature was demonstrated for the first time where the CS-MoS2 GS exhibits a stable cycling behavior with a high response (165% at 1 ppm NO) in 50 s; for concentration as low as 0.06 ppm, the response of 75% in 150 s can be achieved.Item type:Item, In situ TEM observation of Au-Cu2O core-shell growth in liquids(2019-06-07) ;Chen, Fu-Chun ;Chen, Jui-Yuan ;Lin, Ya-Hsuan ;Kuo, Ming-YuHsu, Yung-JungHeterogeneous nanoparticles are widely used in catalysis, sensors and biology due to their versatile functions. Among the various heterogeneous nanoparticles, Au-Cu2O core-shell nanoparticles show high stability and short response times for use as sensors and catalysts and have thus attracted much attention. Previous studies show that the properties of Au-Cu2O are mainly related to the shape and size of the Au-Cu2O nanoparticles. However, the forming behavior of heterostructures and the mechanism have not been fully explored. In this work, liquid cell transmission electron microscopy (LCTEM) was used to investigate the formation of these interesting Au-Cu2O nanoparticles and their process of aggregation. The electron beam and dispersion of gold nanoparticles are both important parameters for the reduction reaction in in situ LCTEM. The Au-Cu2O core-shell nanoparticles can be synthesized to have two morphologies, multifaceted and cubic. The nanoparticles grew into these different morphologies due to the amount of remaining citrate ligands on the surface of the gold nanoparticles. For the multifaceted nanoparticles, the epitaxy of the two components is confirmed from high-resolution TEM images and electron diffraction patterns with an epitaxial relationship of Au (020)//Cu2O (020) and Au [101]//Cu2O [101]. The growth rate is approximately 210 nm(2) s-1. On the other hand, the cubic nanoparticles nucleate and grow independently. The growth kinetics and elemental distributions have been systematically studied. In addition, the nanoclusters would float, rotate, and finally aggregate with the surrounding clusters. This in situ experiment sheds light on the growth mechanisms of nanostructures and will improve the applicability and controllability of heterostructure synthesis.Item type:Item, 極簡生活頻道 末羊子(2019-06-09) ;林芷懷 ;Department of Communication and Technology傳播與科技學系【極簡生活修練題】專題
