Item type:Item, Dynamic Hip Screw with Trochanter-Stabilizing Plate Compared with Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation as a Treatment for Unstable AO/OTA 31-A2 and 31-A3 Intertrochanteric Fractures(2020-08-19) ;Fu, Chun-Wei ;Chen, Ji-Ying ;Liu, Yueh-Ching ;Liao, Kuang-WenLu, Yung-ChangBackground. The dynamic hip screw (DHS) with the addition of an angular stable trochanter-stabilizing plate (TSP) has been considered the ideal treatment for the unstable intertrochanteric fracture type. However, there have been few comparisons between DHS+TSP augmentation with intramedullary (IM) nailing. The aim of this retrospectively registered study was to compare the clinical outcomes of patients with the unstable type of intertrochanteric fractures treated with DHS+TSP or IM nailing (proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA)).Methods. From June 2013 to April 2018, 358 patients with proximal femur fracture AO/OTA type 31A2 and 31A3 treated with PFNA or DHS+TSP and followed for >= 10 months postoperatively were included. The surgical-dependent outcome evaluation included the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative decrease in hemoglobin, and blood transfusion amount. Functional status was also measured. Radiographic findings and postoperative complications were recorded and analyzed.Result. The operation time was significantly shorter in the DHS+TSP group than that in the PFNA group for both A2 and A3 fractures (A2 type: 84.0 vs.96.4 min;p<0.05; A3 type: 102.4 vs.116.1 min;p<0.05). Postoperative decrease in hemoglobin was more significant in the PFNA group than that in the DHS+TSP group for both fracture types (A2 type: -1.88 vs. -1.29 (mg/dL);p<0.05; A3 type: -1.63 vs. -1.04 (mg/dL);p<0.05). However, the patients treated with DHS+TSP had significantly more residual pain than those treated with PFNA during the final follow-up (Visual Analog Scale score, A2 type: 28.4 vs.23.2;p<0.05; A3 type: 27.5 vs.23.6;p<0.05) and complained of greater implant irritation.Conclusion. We found that DHS+TSP was associated with less operation time and less postoperative decrease in hemoglobin but more residual pain and implant irritation than those of PFNA. As a treatment for unstable intertrochanteric fracture, DHS+TSP provided ideal surgical outcomes which were not inferior to the PFNA.Item type:Item, Comparative modeling of improved synthesis of energetic dinitrobenzofuroxan (DNBF) derivatives(2020-08-19) ;Liu, Yung-Hsien ;Wu, Yi-Huan ;Li, Jin-Shuh ;Liu, Min-Hsien材料科學與工程學系Quantum chemical theoretical computation was performed on gaseous molecular reaction systems to simulate parallel synthesis of energetic primary explosive precursor 4,6-dinitrobenzofuroxan (4,6-DNBF) and its isomeric derivatives. Related polarized continuum model (PCM) and Materials Studio (MS/forcite) energies were collected via kinetic rate and thermodynamic equilibrium analyses, enabling comparison of and suggestions as to suitable reaction conditions (reaction temperature, reagent concentration, mixed acid ratio) together with feasible pathways to obtain a high production yield of the research target. In summary, at a low reaction temperature of 278 K, 1.0 M 4-nitrobenzofuroxan (or 5,6-nitrobenzofuroxan) could be nitrated using concentrated nitric acid/sulfuric acid at a 1 to 2 volume ratio to efficiently and rapidly produce 4,6-dinitro-benzofuroxan (or 5,6-dinitrobenzofuroxan), in agreement with the experimental results reported in the literature.Item type:Item, High-Bandwidth Green Semipolar (20-21) InGaN/GaN Micro Light-Emitting Diodes for Visible Light Communication(2020-08-19) ;Chen, Sung-Wen Huang ;Huang, Yu-Ming ;Chang, Yun-Han ;Lin, YueLiou, Fang-JyunThe light-emitting diode (LED) is among promising candidates of light sources in visible light communication (VLC); however, strong internal polarization fields in common c-plane LEDs, especially green LEDs, result in low frequency and limited transmission performance. This study aims to overcome the limited 3-dB bandwidth of long-wavelength InGaN/GaN LEDs. Thus, semipolar (20-21) micro-LEDs (mu LEDs) were fabricated through several improved approaches on epitaxy and chip processes. The mu LED exhibits a 525 nm peak wavelength and good polarization performance. The highest 3-dB bandwidth up to 756 MHz and 1.5 Gbit/s data rate was achieved under a current density of 2.0 kA/cm(2). These results suggest a good transmission capacity of green semipolar (20-21) mu LEDs in VLC applications.Item type:Item, SVAD: A genetic database curates non-ischemic sudden cardiac death-associated variants(2020-08-19) ;Huang, Wei-Chih ;Huang, Hsin-Tzu ;Chen, Po-Yuan ;Wang, Wei-ChiKo, Tai-MingSudden cardiac death (SCD) is an important cause of mortality worldwide. It accounts for approximately half of all deaths from cardiovascular disease. While coronary artery disease and acute myocardial infarction account for the majority of SCD in the elderly population, inherited cardiac diseases (inherited CDs) comprise a substantial proportion of younger SCD victims with a significant genetic component. Currently, the use of next-generation sequencing enables the rapid analysis to investigate relationships between genetic variants and inherited CDs causing SCD. Genetic contribution to risk has been considered an alternate predictor of SCD. In the past years, large numbers of SCD susceptibility variants were reported, but these results are scattered in numerous publications. Here, we present the SCD-associated Variants Annotation Database (SVAD) to facilitate the interpretation of variants and to meet the needs of data integration. SVAD contains data from a broad screening of scientific literature. It was constructed to provide a comprehensive collection of genetic variants along with integrated information regarding their effects. At present, SVAD has accumulated 2,292 entries within 1,239 variants by manually surveying pertinent literature, and approximately one-third of the collected variants are pathogenic/likely-pathogenic following the ACMG guidelines. To the best of our knowledge, SVAD is the most comprehensive database that can provide integrated information on the associated variants in various types of inherited CDs. SVAD represents a valuable source of variant information based on scientific literature and benefits clinicians and researchers, and it is now available on.Item type:Item, Dynamics of the reaction CH2I + O(2)probedviainfrared emission of CO, CO2, OH and H2CO(2020-08-21) ;Chen, Ting-Yu ;Lee, Yuan-Pern ;交大名義發表 ;應用化學系應用化學系分子科學碩博班The reaction CH2I + O(2)has been widely employed recently for the production of the simplest Criegee intermediate CH2OO in laboratories, but the detailed dynamics of this reaction have been little explored. Infrared emission of several products of this reaction, initiated on irradiation of CH(2)I(2)and O-2(similar to 8 Torr) in a flowing mixture at 308 or 248 nm, was recorded with a step-scan Fourier-transform spectrometer; possible routes of formation were identified according to the observed vibrational distribution of products and published theoretical potential-energy schemes. Upon irradiation at 308 nm, Boltzmann distributions of CO (v <= 5,J <= 19) with an average vibrational energy of 32 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1)and OH (v <= 3,J <= 5.5) with an average vibrational energy of 29 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1)were observed and assigned to the decomposition of HCOOH* to form CO + H2O and OH + HCO, respectively. The broadband emission of CO(2)was simulated with two vibrational distributions of average energies (91 +/- 4) and (147 +/- 8) kJ mol(-1)and assigned to be produced from the decomposition of HCOOH* and methylene bis(oxy), respectively. Upon irradiation of samples at 248 nm, the emission of OH and CO(2)showed similar distributions with slightly greater energies, but the distribution of CO (v <= 11,J <= 19) became bimodal with average vibrational energies of (23 +/- 4) and (107 +/- 29) kJ mol(-1), and branching (56 +/- 5) : (44 +/- 5). The additional large-vcomponent is assigned to be produced from a secondary reaction HCO + O(2)to form CO + HO2; HCO is a coproduct of OH. The branching between CO and OH is (50 +/- 5) : (50 +/- 5) at 308 nm and (64 +/- 5) : (36 +/- 4) at 248 nm, consistent with the mechanism according to which an additional channel to produce CO opens at 248 nm. Highly internally excited H2CO was also observed. With O(2)at 16 Torr, the extrapolated nascent internal distributions are similar to those with O(2)at 8 Torr except for a slight quenching effect.Item type:Item, The absorption and fluorescence spectra of 4-(3-methoxybenzylidene)-2-methyl-oxazalone interpreted by Franck-Condon simulation in various pH solvent environments(2020-08-21) ;Liu, Yu-Hui ;Peng, Ya-Jing ;Su, Hang ;Zhu, ChaoyuanLin, Sheng-HsienThe absorption and fluorescence spectra of 4-(3-methoxybenzylidene)-2-methyl-oxazalone (m-MeOBDI) dissolved in neutral, acidic, and basic solvent environments have been investigated and assigned by using Franck-Condon (FC) simulations at the quantum TDDFT level. Four different structures ofm-MeOBDI in the ground and excited states are optimized and are found to be responsible for the observed absorption and fluorescence spectra. The (absorption) fluorescence ofm-MeOBDI in pure methanol and neutral/basic methanol/water (1/9 vol) mixed solvent is found to arise from the (ground neutral N-I) excited neutral N-I* and cationic C-III* species, respectively. In acidic solvent, the absorption is found to arise from ground acidic C-II species, and the excited divalent cation DC-IV* is found to be formed in its excited state due to the excess H(+)in the solution, and then it emits similar to 560 nm fluorescence. FC simulations have also been employed to confirm our assignments as well as interpret the vibronic band profiles. As expected, the simulated emission spectrum of the divalent cationic species is in good agreement with the experimental observation. Therefore, within the present FC simulation, the observed absorption and fluorescence spectra have been reasonably interpreted and novel fluorescence mechanisms ofm-MeOBDI in various pH solvent environments have been proposed.Item type:Item, (2-Ketulosonyl)onate 2,3-O-thionocarbonate donors for the synthesis of KO and KDO alpha-glycosides and a one-pot glycosylation method for 2-keto acid donors(2020-08-21) ;Mong, Kwok-Kong Tony ;Pradhan, Tapan Kumar ;Chiu, Cheng-Hsin ;Hung, Wei-ChengChen, Chao-JuWe report a short synthetic strategy for direct preparation of (2-ketulosonyl)onate donors. These donors feature a cyclic thionocarbonate group at the C2 and C3 positions, which plays a multitude of chemical roles. It protects the C2 and C3 hydroxyls during building block preparation. In glycosylation, the thionocarbonate can be activated by a sulfenylating promoter and serves as a leaving group. Because of its beta-configuration, it also plays the role of a stereo-directing group during the formation of the alpha-glycosidic bond. In addition, the thionocarbonate donors can couple with thioglycoside acceptors. This orthogonal property was used for the development of the first one-pot glycosylation method for 2-keto acid sugars.Item type:Item, Pd-Catalyzed Redox-Neutral C-N Coupling Reaction of Iminoquinones with Electron-Deficient Alkenes without External Oxidants: Access of Tertiary (E)-Enamines and Application to the Synthesis of Indoles and Quinolin-4-ones(2020-08-21) ;Jillella, Raveendra ;Raju, Selvam ;Hsiao, Huan-Chang ;Hsu, Day-ShinChuang, Shih-ChingA novel and efficient reductive N-alkenylation of iminoquinones with electron-deficient olefins has been successfully developed by Pd(II)-catalyzed redox-neutral reactions, which provides a synthesis of tertiary (E)-enamines. We further demonstrate that the tertiary enamines can be converted to multifarious N-heterocyclic compounds, indoles, and quinolones in good yields. Item type:Item, Dynamical decoupling and recoupling of the Wigner solid to a liquid helium substrate(2020-08-24) ;Rees, David G. ;Yeh, Sheng-Shiuan ;Lee, Ban-Chen ;Schnyder, Simon K.Williams, Francis I. B.We investigate the dynamical interaction between an electron crystal trapped above the surface of liquid helium and surface waves ('ripplons') excited by its motion. At rest, the electron system is 'dressed' by static ripplons to form 'ripplopolaron' states. As the electrons move, resonant ripplon scattering results in a growth of the ripplopolaron effective mass, on timescales comparable with the inverse of the ripplon frequency (similar to 100 ns). Under sufficient driving force, the electron system decouples from the surface waves and moves at high velocity, before decelerating sharply when the electron solid and surface excitations recouple to form a 'new' ripplopolaron system. The mass of the newly formed ripplopolarons is similar to that in the initial static case.Item type:Item, 立基於技術、創新與企業家精神架構之計畫導向學習(2020-08-24) ;蔡蕙安國立交通大學管理學院Item type:Item, Monitoring of Retinoic Acid Uptake into H9c2 Cells Using Electric-Double-Layer (EDL) Gated Field-Effect Transistors(2020-08-24) ;Tsai, Shu-Yi ;Wang, Jen-Hsuan ;Chen, Po-Hsuan ;Paulose, Akhil K.Wang, Yu-LinFibronectin-immobilized extended gated electric-double-layer field-effect transistors are demonstrated for non-invasively monitoring retinoic acid uptake by H2c9 cell lines. The diffusion of retinoic acid into the cells is electrically measured as the drain current gain based on the change of the voltage drop in culture medium produced by the capacitance change of the cells. Impedance measurement and analysis reveal that the imaginary part dominates the major voltage drop in medium and the sensing characteristics as well. The sensor chip is confirmed to be a capacitive equivalent model and combining with the signal amplification by FETs. This non-invasive cell-based sensor platform enables to monitor the interaction between molecules and cells, which is promising for prospective applications in all kinds of intracellular study and drug screening.Item type:Item, Carrying an arbitrarily large amount of information using a single quantum particle(2020-08-25) ;Hsu, Li-Yi ;Lai, Ching-Yi ;Chang, You-Chia ;Wu, Chien-MingLee, Ray-KuangTheoretically speaking, a photon can travel arbitrarily long before it enters into a detector, resulting in a click. How much information can a photon carry? We study a bipartite asymmetric "two-way signaling" protocol as an extension of that proposed by Del Santo and Dakic. Suppose that Alice and Bob are distant from each other and each of them has an n-bit string. They are tasked to exchange the information of their local n-bit strings with each other, using only a single photon during the communication. It has been shown that the superposition of different spatial locations in a Mach-Zehnder (MZ) interferometer enables bipartite local encodings. We show that, after the travel of a photon through a cascade of n-level MZ interferometers in our protocol, the one of Alice and Bob whose detector clicks can access the other's full information of the n-bit string, while the other can gain one bit of information. That is, the wave-particle duality makes two-way signaling possible, and a single photon can carry an arbitrarily large (but finite) amount of information.Item type:Item, Snake Tracks in Polymer Land: Wavy Polymer Structures via Selective Solvent Vapor Annealing(2020-08-25) ;Chiu, Yu-Jing ;Weng, Chang-Ching ;Tseng, Hsiao-Fan ;Hsu, Hsun-HaoChen, Jiun-TaiWavy patterns are interesting geometric patterns and commonly seen in nature, such as serpentine streams or snake tracks in the sand. Although many efforts have been devoted to fabricating artificial wavy structures, it remains a great challenge to obtain wavy structures with controllable curvatures and desired functional properties. Here, we present an unprecedented approach to generate wavy polymer structures by annealing electrospun core-shell fibers on polymer films. Polystyrene (PS)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) core-shell fibers, produced via the viscosity-induced phase separation in the electrospinning process, are annealed on PMMA films using vapors of acetic acid, a selective solvent for PMMA but not for PS. After the swollen PMMA chains of the PMMA shells are shed, the revealed PS cores start to buckle, driven by the elastic force from the strain release, forming the wavy structures. The degrees of the buckling, measured by the curvatures and the amplitudes of the wavy structures, are controlled by the annealing times. Furthermore, fluorescent properties are selectively introduced to the wavy structures using pyrene solutions or pyrene-containing vapors, demonstrating the potential application as fluorescent wavy materials.Item type:Item, Humanized bispecific antibody (mPEG x HER2) rapidly confers PEGylated nanoparticles tumor specificity for multimodality imaging in breast cancer(2020-08-27) ;Cheng, Yi-An ;Wu, Tung-Ho ;Wang, Yun-Ming ;Cheng, Tian-LuChen, I-JuBackground: Developing a universal strategy to improve the specificity and sensitivity of PEGylated nanoaparticles (PEG-NPs) for assisting in the diagnosis of tumors is important in multimodality imaging. Here, we developed the anti-methoxypolyethylene glycol (mPEG) bispecific antibody (BsAb; mPEG x HER2), which has dual specificity for mPEG and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), with a diverse array of PEG-NPs to confer nanoparticles with HER2 specificity and stronger intensity. Result: We used a one-step formulation to rapidly modify the nanoprobes with mPEG x HER2 and optimized the modified ratio of BsAbs on several PEG-NPs (Lipo-DiR, SPIO, Qdot and AuNP). The alpha HER2/PEG-NPs could specifically target MCF7/HER2 cells (HER2(++)) but not MCF7/neo1 cells (HER2(+/-)). The alpha HER2/Lipo-DiR and alpha HER2/SPIO could enhance the sensitivity of untargeted PEG-NPs on MCF7/HER2 (HER2(++)). In in vivo imaging, alpha HER2/Lipo-DiR and alpha HER2/SPIO increased the specific targeting and enhanced PEG-NPs accumulation at 175% and 187% on 24 h, respectively, in HER2-overexpressing tumors. Conclusion: mPEG x HER2, therefore, provided a simple one-step formulation to confer HER2-specific targeting and enhanced sensitivity and contrast intensity on HER2 positive tumors for multimodality imaging.Item type:Item, Tuning proton-coupled electron transfer by crystal orientation for efficient water oxidization on double perovskite oxides(2020-08-27) ;Zhu, Yunmin ;He, Zuyun ;Choi, YongMan ;Chen, HuijunLi, XiaobaoDeveloping highly efficient and cost-effective oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts is critical for many energy devices. While regulating the proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) process via introducing additive into the system has been reported effective in promoting OER activity, controlling the PCET process by tuning the intrinsic material properties remains a challenging task. In this work, we take double perovskite oxide PrBa0.5Sr0.5Co1.5Fe0.5O5+delta (PBSCF) as a model system to demonstrate enhancing OER activity through the promotion of PCET by tuning the crystal orientation and correlated proton diffusion. OER kinetics on PBSCF thin films with (100), (110), and (111) orientation, deposited on single crystal LaAlO3 substrates, were investigated using electrochemical measurements, density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and synchrotron-based near ambient X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results clearly show that the OER activity and the ease of deprotonation depend on orientation and follow the order of (100) > (110) > (111). Correlated with OER activity, proton diffusion is found to be the fastest in the (100) film, followed by (110) and (111) films. Our results point out a way of boosting PCET and OER activity, which can also be successfully applied to a wide range of crucial applications in green energy and environment. Proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) has been observed in chemical, energy, and biological transformation processes. Here we demonstrate that the rate of PCET and oxygen evolution reaction can be dramatically enhanced by tuning crystal orientation and the correlated proton diffusion.Item type:Item, Preliminary clinical and radiographic outcomes of proximal humeral fractures: comparison of ALPS and PHILOS plating in Asian patients in Taiwan(2020-08-28) ;Chen, Chun-Yen ;Chang, Hao-Wei ;Hsieh, Shang-Lin ;Chang, Chien-ChunTsai, Chun-HaoBackground Up to 20% of proximal humeral fractures need to be treated operatively. However, numerus complications were reported by using fixed angled locking plates. The ALPS Proximal Humerus Plating System is a new design implant with novel design features. The aim of this study was to compare the preliminary clinical outcomes and complications of proximal humeral fractures treated with either ALPS or the proximal humeral internal locking system (PHILOS) in Asian patients in Taiwan. Methods Between January 2016 and December 2018, 66 patients with displaced proximal humeral fractures were analyzed retrospectively, of whom 31 underwent ALPS implant treatment and 35 underwent PHILOS implant treatment. Intraoperative blood loss and operation time, postoperative Constant-Murley Shoulder Outcome (Constant-Murley) score, and complications variables were recorded for the comparison. All cases were regularly followed up for at least 1 year. Results The mean follow-up period was 400.8 days (range, 367-446 days). Union was achieved in 98.5% of patients (65/66). The ALPS group yielded similar radiologic and clinical outcomes to the PHILOS plating group for treating displaced proximal humeral fractures, including operation time, intraoperative blood loss, the Constant-Murley score, and varus malunion (P> 0.05, respectively). However, the incidence of total postoperative complications in the ALPS group was significantly lower than in the PHILOS group (P< 0.05). There was a trend of a lower complication rate of screws/pegs protrusion, avascular necrosis, subacromial impingement, postoperative infection, and reoperation in the ALPS group, although it was not statistically significant (P> 0.05, respectively). Conclusion The ALPS group yielded similar radiologic and clinical outcomes to the PHILOS plating group for displaced proximal humeral fractures, but the ALPS group had a significantly lower total rate of complications. Therefore, ALPS may be a better option for treating proximal humeral fractures. Further larger clinical studies are needed to confirm the findings presented here.
