A Polarizes-free Flexible Display Using Dye-doped Liquid Crystal Gels

Abstract

A reflective type polarizes-free flexible displays using a dye-doped liquid crystal (LC) is demonstrated due to combining both scattering and absorption. A polarizer-free multi-switch using gradient dye-doped LC gels is also demonstrated. Such a gel-like flexible displav is bendable and trimable. The potential applications are e-papers and decorative displays.
