The spatial interpretation of freehand sketches - Using programming and rapid prototyping

Abstract

Freehand sketching has always been used in the conceptual design process. The importance of freehand sketching lies in its ability to freely represent various ambiguous drawing projections. This research implements a convenient sketch interpretation system called Spatial Charcoal to aid in the conceptual design process. The system interprets a designer's sketch, generates a relative digital model and then fabricates it using a rapid prototyping machine.
