ClCS was produced upon irradiating a flowing mixture of Cl2CS and N-2 or CO2 with a KrF excimer laser at 248 nm. A transient band in the region of 1160-1220 cm(-1), which diminished on prolonged reaction, is assigned to the C-S stretching (nu(1)) mode of ClCS. Calculations with density-functional theory (B3P86 and B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ) predict the geometry, vibrational wave numbers, and rotational parameters of ClCS. The rotational contour of the spectrum of ClCS simulated based on predicted rotational parameters agrees satisfactorily with experimental observation; from spectral simulation, the band origin is determined to be at 1194.4 cm(-1). Reaction kinetics involving ClCS, CS, and CS2 are discussed. C. ;Liu, Po-Tsun ;Tsao, S. W.Chen, J. R.The photo-leakage-current (I-PLC) characteristic of F incorporated a-Si:H thin film transistor (TFT) has been studied. The device activation energy (E-a) of a-Si:H(:F) TFTs is higher than those of typical a-Si:H TFTs, and resulted in the shift down of Fermi level in a-Si:H(:F). Experimental results show that the I-PLC of a-Si:H(:F) TFTs is smaller than that of conventional a-Si:H TFTs in the density of states limited region, stemmed from the higher recombination centers present in a-Si:H(:F) material. However, the higher I-PLC is observed in the hole conduction region, resulted from the larger E-a in the a-Si:H(:F) TFTs. In addition, charge-transporting pendant units are included to improve carrier injection and transport. White-electrophosphorescent devices with the structure ITO/PEDOT.PSSiW3/CsF/Al (ITO: indium tin oxide; PEDOT.PSS: poly(styrenesulfonate)-doped poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)) exhibit a low turn-on voltage of 2.8 V and a luminance of ca. 10(3) cd m(-2) at below 6 V. The peak luminance and power-conversion efficiencies are 8.2 cd A(-1) and 7.2 lm W-1, respectively. Furthermore, the device shows relatively stable white emission: the Commission Internationale d'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of the devices change only slightly from (0.35,0.38) at 10 mA cm(-2) to (0.33,0.36) at 100 mA cm(-2), with an almost constant color render index (CRI) value of 82 at all measured current densities.Item type:Item, Small angle x-ray scattering measurements of lithographic patterns with sidewall roughness from vertical standing waves(2007-05-07) ;Wang, Chengqing ;Jones, Ronald L. ;Lin, Eric K. ;Wu, Wen-LiLeu, JimSmall angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements are used to quantify the wavelength and amplitude of the sidewall roughness in a lithographic line:space pattern due to vertical standing waves present during the photoresist exposure. Analytic equations are derived to model the x-ray scattering intensity and are used to determine the periodicity and amplitude of the standing wave roughness. The average periodicity, or pitch, and the linewidth were L=422 +/- 1 nm and w(0)=148 +/- 1 nm. The period and amplitude of the standing wave roughness were lambda(s)=65 +/- 1 nm and A(s)=3.0 +/- 0.5 nm. These results demonstrate the potential of SAXS measurements to quantify nondestructively and quantitatively dimensional deviations from an ideal structure. The authors estimated the actual pattern growth temperature using a fluorescence probe technique. The temperature at which pattern growth originated was, by necessity, higher than the glass transition temperature of the novolak resist. Electrostatic forces and surface tension effects under the electromagnetic field contributed significantly to the pattern growth, and the use of an antisticking agent allowed easy demolding. The fabrication process is based on the electrodynamics of dielectric fluids. When the fringing field is present, the LC molecules tend to aggregate in the strong electric field regions while the monomers diffuse to the weak field regions. After photopolymerization, the LC molecules are confined by a thin polymer layer and polymer walls which define the cell gap. This approach enables single-substrate large panel display devices to be fabricated. The belt-like Ag, with a thickness less than 10 nm, a width of 30-100 nm, a length up to 5 mu m, and a novel single crystalline 4H structure, was prepared by reacting AgNO3(aq) and Cu(s) in an aqueous solution of CTAC.Item type:Item, Raman study of alloy potential fluctuations in MgxZn1-xO nanopowders(2007-05-09) ;Pan, Ching-Ju ;Lin, Kuo-Feng ;Hsu, Wei-Tse ;Hsieh, Wen-Feng光電工程學系The blueshift of near-band-edge emission and excitonic absorption indicate that Zn2+ ions are successfully substituted by Mg2+ ions in MgxZn1-xO nanopowders for 0 <= x <= 0.14. The changes in Raman spectral linewidth and the asymmetry of the E-2 ( high) mode for various Mg contents can be well described by a modified spatial correlation model that considers the grain size distribution. With increasing Mg concentration, the alloy potential fluctuations lead to a decrease in the grain size, which is induced by the surplus Mg2+ that could form MgO clusters surrounding the crystalline MgZnO.Item type:Item, Combinatorial Computational Approaches to Identify Tetracycline Derivatives as Flavivirus Inhibitors(2007-05-09) ;Yang, Jinn-Moon ;Chen, Yan-Fu ;Tu, Yu-Yin ;Yen, Kuei-RongYang, Yun-LiangLimited structural information of drug targets, cellular toxicity possessed by lead compounds, and large amounts of potential leads are the major issues facing the design-oriented approach of discovering new leads. In an attempt to tackle these issues, we have developed a process of virtual screening based on the observation that conformational rearrangements of the dengue virus envelope protein are essential for the mediation of viral entry into host cells via membrane fusion. Screening was based solely on the structural information of the Dengue virus envelope protein and was focused on a target site that is presumably important for the conformational rearrangements necessary for viral entry. To circumvent the issue of lead compound toxicity, we performed screening based on molecular docking using structural databases of medical compounds. To enhance the identification of hits, we further categorized and selected candidates according to their novel structural characteristics. Finally, the selected candidates were subjected to a biological validation assay to assess inhibition of Dengue virus propagation in mammalian host cells using a plaque formation assay. Among the 10 compounds examined, rolitetracycline and doxycycline significantly inhibited plaque formation, demonstrating their inhibitory effect on dengue virus propagation. Both compounds were tetracycline derivatives with IC(50)s estimated to be 67.1 mu M and 55.6 mu M, respectively. Their docked conformations displayed common hydrophobic interactions with critical residues that affected membrane fusion during viral entry. These interactions will therefore position the tetracyclic ring moieties of both inhibitors to bind firmly to the target and, subsequently, disrupt conformational rearrangement and block viral entry. This process can be applied to other drug targets in which conformational rearrangement is critical to function.Item type:Item, Studies on the electronic and vibrational states of colloidal CdSe/ZnS quantum dots under high pressures(2007-05-09) ;Yuan, C. T. ;Lin, Y. C. ;Chen, Y. N. ;Chiu, Q. L.Chou, W. C.The electronic and vibrational states of colloidal core/shell CdSe/ZnS quantum dots are studied at room temperature by using high pressure optical measurements. Pressure-induced quadratic variations of lattice constants can be observed clearly from both photoluminescence ( PL) and Raman spectra up to similar to 7 GPa. This quadratic relationship is consistent with the theoretical prediction. The pressure coefficients of linear and quadratic terms are 32 meV GPa(-1), -1 meV GPa(-2) for PL and 4.2 cm(-1) GPa(-1), -0.1 cm(-1) GPa(-2) for Raman measurements, respectively.Item type:Item, Method for automatic key posture information abstraction(2007-05-10) ;Liao, Hong-Yuan MarkChen, Duan-YuThe method for automatic key posture information abstraction of this invention comprises the steps of: Abstracting from a series of continuous digitized images spatial features of objects contained in said images; abstracting shape features of said objects using a method of probability calculation; detecting key posture information contained in said series of continuous images using a method of entropy calculation; removing redundant key postures; mating obtained key postures with key posture templates stored in a codebook; and encoding mated key postures.Item type:Item, A low-power CMOS LNA for ultra-wideband wireless receivers(2007-05-10) ;Lee, Yi-Ching ;Tarng, Jenn-Hwan ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringIn this paper, a low-power ultra-wideband (UWB) low-noise amplifier (LNA) is proposed. Here, we propose a structure to combine the common gate with band pass filters, which can reduce parasitic capacitance of the transistor and to achieve input wideband matching. Further, the XOR-based conditional keeper of the present invention can apply to the dynamic CAM match line architecture so that the dynamic match line can have lower power consumption, higher noise immunity, and high processing speed. Further, the XOR-based conditional keeper of the present invention can also apply to all kinds of dynamic circuits, particularly to a high fan-in circuit.Item type:Item, Micro knife-edge optical measurement device in a silicon-on-insulator substrate(2007-05-14) ;Chiu, Yi ;Pan, Jiun-Hung ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringThe knife-edge method is a commonly used technique to characterize the optical profiles of laser beams or focused spots. Through repeatedly averaging the phase fluctuations of adjacent pulses, a simple analytical model and numerical simulation revealed that the IFWM-induced differential phase fluctuation is suppressed and convergent, even after an ultralong transmission. The influence of averaging the phase fluctuations on the bit error rate is also evaluated by the semianalytical method. M. ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceVertex connectivity and edge connectivity are two important parameters in interconnection networks. Even though they reflect the fault tolerance correctly, they undervalue the resilience of large networks. By the concept of conditional connectivity and super-connectivity, the concept of restricted vertex connectivity and restricted edge connectivity of graphs was proposed by Esfahanian [A.H. Esfahanian, Generalized measures of fault tolerance with application to N-cube networks, IEEE Transactions on Computers 38 (1989) 1586-1591]. Such measures take the resilience of large networks into consideration. In this paper, we propose three families of interconnection networks and discuss their restricted vertex connectivity and restricted edge connectivity. In particular, the hypercubes, twisted-cubes, crossed-cubes, mobius cubes, star graphs, pancake graphs, recursive circulant graphs, and k-ary n-cubes are special cases of these families. Michael ;Ho, Shinn-Ying ;生物科技學系生物資訊及系統生物研究所We have developed a web server, iPTREE-STAB for discriminating the stability of proteins (stabilizing or destabilizing) and predicting their stability changes (AAG) upon single amino acid substitutions from amino acid sequence. The discrimination and prediction are mainly based on decision tree coupled with adaptive boosting algorithm, and classification and regression tree, respectively, using three neighboring residues of the mutant sit. along N- and C-terminals. Our method showed an accuracy of 82% for discriminating the stabilizing and destabilizing mutants, and a correlation of 0.70 for predicting protein stability changes upon mutations.
