Item type:Item, Domain Wall Conductivity in La-Doped BiFeO(3)(2010-11-05) ;Seidel, J. ;Maksymovych, P. ;Batra, Y. ;Katan, A.Yang, S. -Y.The transport physics of domain wall conductivity in La-doped bismuth ferrite (BiFeO(3)) has been probed using variable temperature conducting atomic force microscopy and piezoresponse force microscopy in samples with arrays of domain walls in the as-grown state. Nanoscale current measurements are investigated as a function of bias and temperature and are shown to be consistent with distinct electronic properties at the domain walls leading to changes in the observed local conductivity. Our observation is well described within a band picture of the observed electronic conduction. Finally, we demonstrate an additional degree of control of the wall conductivity through chemical doping with oxygen vacancies, thus influencing the local conductive state.Item type:Item, Flavor transition mechanisms of propagating astrophysical neutrinos: A model independent parametrization(2010-11-05) ;Lai, Kwang-Chang ;Lin, Guey-Lin ;Liu, T. C. ;物理研究所Institute of PhysicsOne of the important goals for future neutrino telescopes is to identify the flavors of astrophysical neutrinos and therefore determine the flavor ratio. The flavor ratio of astrophysical neutrinos observed on the Earth depends on both the initial flavor ratio at the source and flavor transitions taking place during propagations of these neutrinos. We propose a model independent parametrization for describing the above flavor transitions. A few flavor transition models are employed to test our parametrization. The observational test for flavor transition mechanisms through our parametrization is discussed.Item type:Item, 交大e-News第082期(2010-11-05) ;Secretariat國立交通大學秘書室Item type:Item, Regioselective One-Pot Protection of D-Glucosamine(2010-11-05) ;Chang, Ken-Lien ;Zulueta, Medel Manuel L. ;Lu, Xin-An ;Zhong, Yong-QingHung, Shang-ChengA highly regioselective one-pot transformation of 2-azido2-deoxy-1,3,4,6-tetra-O-trimethylsilyl-D-glucopyranose via sequential additions of various reagents was systematically studied, yielding the fully protected derivatives and the 1-, 3-, 4-, as well as 6-alcohols, respectively.Item type:Item, Domain Wall Conductivity in La-Doped BiFeO3(2010-11-05) ;Seidel, J. ;Maksymovych, P. ;Batra, Y. ;Katan, A.Yang, S. -Y.The transport physics of domain wall conductivity in La-doped bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) has been probed using variable temperature conducting atomic force microscopy and piezoresponse force microscopy in samples with arrays of domain walls in the as-grown state. By continuously tuning the refractive index of one microdisk, clear anticrossings in the resonant peak energies associated with crossings in the peak linewidths can be observed. The coupling strengths are extracted by the coupled mode theory and analyzed by the model considering the effective potential confining the electromagnetic waves in the microcavities. After the coherent light beam enters the two-dimensional grating, a zero-order light beam and a plurality of first-order diffraction beams are generated. The zero-order light beam interferes with two of the first-order beams in different directions, so that corresponding interference fringes are formed on the photo sensor. Accordingly, when the two-dimensional grating moves, displacements of the two-dimensional grating in the different directions are obtained by calculating phase differences of the interference fringes in the corresponding directions. Besides, when the two-dimensional grating rotates, the rotational angle of the two-dimensional grating is obtained from the corresponding rotational angle of a diffraction pattern of the first-order diffraction beams.Item type:Item, PRINT DIPOLE ANTENNA AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF(2010-11-11) ;Cheng, Li-YuanChen, Fu-ChiarngThe present invention discloses a print dipole antenna and manufacturing method thereof. Likewise, time-dependent gap immiscible flow in lifting Hele-Shaw cells leads to intricate morphologies if the cell's gap width grows exponentially with time. Recent studies show that the rising of these complex fingered structures can be controlled by properly adjusting the injection rate, and the time-dependent gap width. We investigate the effectiveness of these control strategies assuming that the fluids involved are miscible. Despite the absence of surface tension effects, intensive numerical simulations support the stabilizing role of these controlling protocols. Splitting, merging and competition of fingers are all inhibited. The sensitivity of the system to changes in the initial conditions and Peclet numbers is also discussed.Item type:Item, Controlling radial fingering patterns in miscible confined flows(2010-11-11) ;Chen, Ching-Yao ;Huang, C. -W. ;Wang, L. -C. ;Miranda, Jose A.機械工程學系Injection-driven immiscible flow in radial Hele-Shaw cells results in highly ramified patterns if the injection rate is constant in time.
