Item type:Item, Design of Downlink Synchronization for Millimeter Wave Cellular System Based on Multipath Division Multiple Access(2020-09-01) ;Chiu, Kang-Lun ;Shen, Pai-Hsiang ;Lin, Bing-Ru ;Hsiao, Wei-HanJou, Shyh-Jye JerryThis work focuses on the design of downlink receiver for future generation cellular systems. In the multipath division multiple access (MDMA) system, the initial synchronization process includes timing and carrier frequency synchronization as well as home cell search. For the proposed system, the user data is transmitted in time domain and the cell search is based on control signals transmitted in frequency domain simultaneously. Firstly, this paper presents a novel architecture for the joint detection and estimation of both the coarse symbol boundary and the fractional carrier frequency offset based on cyclic prefix in time domain. Secondly, a robust integer carrier frequency offset detection is performed with the primary control tone in frequency domain. Moreover, the position of the secondary control tones is used to obtain the cell ID. Finally, the preamble sequence carried by the secondary control tones is used to detect frame header through differential detection. The simulation results show the proposed synchronization algorithms can achieve detection failure rate less than 1% and the normalized residual carrier frequency offset is less than 5% under the interference of user data. Furthermore, a hardware design targeted at 200 Mbps per-user data rate is realized with memory arbiter to share memory.Item type:Item, An Expected Win Rate-Based Real Time Bidding Strategy for Branding Campaign by the Model-Free Reinforcement Learning Model(2020-01-01) ;Shih, Wen-Yueh ;Lu, Yi-Shu ;Tsai, Hsiao-Ping ;Huang, Jiun-Long資訊工程學系The bidding strategy plays the most important role to help the Demand Side Platforms (DSPs) making bidding decisions on a large number of bid requests in Real Time Bidding (RTB) to satisfy the different objectives of campaigns under the lifetime and budget constraints. In this paper, we focus on branding campaign whose objective is to obtain as many impressions as possible under the lifetime and budget constraints. To achieve the objectives of branding campaigns, we propose a novel expected win rate-based bidding strategy for branding campaign under the lifetime and budget constraints by utilizing a model-free reinforcement learning model. Specifically, to prevent missing good opportunities resulting from submitting extremely low bid prices, the concept of the base winning price is introduced to determine the lower bound of expected winning price. In addition, to obtain more impressions, the concept of the DSP-specified budget spending plan is proposed to determine the proper winning prices. The base expected win rate is then calculated based on the base winning price and the winning price determined by the DSP-specified budget spending plan. Since RTB is a dynamic environment, we propose a novel expected win rate-based bidding strategy named EWDQN which utilizes Deep Q Network (DQN) to dynamically determine the expected win rate according to the base expected win rate and the current status of the RTB market, and then determines the bid price according to the expected win rate. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first research applying the reinforcement learning technique on the bidding strategies for branding campaign. To measure the performance of EWDQN, several experiments are conducted on two real datasets. Experimental results show that EWDQN outperforms the-state-of-the-art bidding strategies for branding campaign in terms of the number of obtained impressions and CPM (cost per thousand impressions).Item type:Item, Giant photothermal nonlinearity in a single silicon nanostructure(2020-08-14) ;Duh, Yi-Shiou ;Nagasaki, Yusuke ;Tang, Yu-Lung ;Wu, Pang-HanCheng, Hao-YuSilicon photonics have attracted significant interest because of their potential in integrated photonics components and all-dielectric meta-optics elements. One major challenge is to achieve active control via strong photon-photon interactions, i.e. optical nonlinearity, which is intrinsically weak in silicon. To boost the nonlinear response, practical applications rely on resonant structures such as microring resonators or photonic crystals. Nevertheless, their typical footprints are larger than 10 mu m. Here, we show that 100nm silicon nano-resonators exhibit a giant photothermal nonlinearity, yielding 90% reversible and repeatable modulation from linear scattering response at low excitation intensities. The equivalent nonlinear index is five-orders larger compared with bulk, based on Mie resonance enhanced absorption and high-efficiency heating in thermally isolated nanostructures. Furthermore, the nanoscale thermal relaxation time reaches nanosecond. This large and fast nonlinearity leads to potential applications for GHz all-optical control at the nanoscale and super-resolution imaging of silicon.Item type:Item, Developing team performance: the double-edged nature of justice(1970-01-01) ;Chen, Jui-Yu ;Lin, Chieh-Peng ;經營管理研究所Institute of Business and ManagementThis study bridges social cognitive theory and Turner's theory of social interaction to develop a model that explains how work teams in technology industry can be motivated to enhance team performance. The prevalence of the use of work teams in technology industry environments has enhanced the importance of studying the processes involved in their performance development. For that reason, this study uses data from team workers in high-tech firms in Taiwan, and shows that collective efficacy positively relates to team performance via the mediation of social interaction. Furthermore, justice positively moderates the relationship between collective humility and social interaction but negatively moderates the relationship between collective efficacy and social interaction. Lastly, managerial implications and research limitations based on the empirical results are provided.Item type:Item, Total-Dose Effect of X-ray Irradiation on Low-TemperaturePolycrystalline Silicon Thin-Film Transistors (vol 41, pg 864, 2020)(2020-09-01) ;Tai, Ya-Hsiang ;Yeh, Shan ;Huang, Shih-Hsuan ;Chang, Ting-Chang電機學院In The above article [1], the Acknowledgment was deleted in error. Hence, integrating the SCC and counterfactual models may facilitate the conceptualization of causation. Based on the marginal SCC (mSCC) model, we propose a novel counterfactual mSCC framework that includes the steps of definition, identification, and estimation. We further propose a six-way effect decomposition for assessing mediation and the mechanistic interaction. The results demonstrate that when all variables are binary, the six-way decomposition is an extension of four-way decomposition and that without agonism, the six-way decomposition is reduced to four-way decomposition. To illustrate the utility of the proposed decomposition, we apply it to a Taiwanese cohort to examine the mechanism of hepatitis C virus (HCV)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with liver inflammation measured by alanine aminotransferase (ALT) as a mediator. Among the HCV-induced HCC cases, 62.27% are not explained by either mediation or interaction in relation to ALT; 9.32% are purely mediated by ALT; 16.53% are caused by the synergistic effect of HCV and ALT; and 9.31% are due to the mediated synergistic effect of HCV and ALT. In summary, we introduce an SCC model framework based on counterfactual theory and detail the required identification assumptions and estimation procedures; we also propose a six-way effect decomposition to unify mediation and mechanistic interaction analyses.Item type:Item, 2.333-Tbit/s bi-directional optical mobile networks using optical wireless communication (OWC)(2020-11-15) ;Wei, Liang-Yu ;Chen, Shu-, I ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Liu, YangChen, Guan-HongWe propose and experimentally demonstrate a 2.333-Tbit/s bi-directional optical mobile network using optical wireless communication (OWC). The proposed network architecture is divided into: fronthaul network con-necting between the distributed-unit (DU) and the remote-radio-unit (RRU); and midhaul network connecting between the central unit (CU) and the DU. At the midhaul, an aggregated 2.333-Tbit/s transmission is achieved using wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) infrared (IR) based invisible light communication (IVLC). For the link between the RRU and user-equipment (UE), 2.7 Gbit/s white-light visible-light-communication (VLC) transmission is achieved for indoor 1.5 m transmission. It can provide communication and lighting simultaneously. A gateway (GW) is also proposed acting as the interface between the IVLC and VLC transmissions. In the proposed architecture, about 400 VLC end-users can be supported.Item type:Item, A two-step deep learning approach to data classification and modeling and a demonstration on subject type relationship analysis in the Web of Science(1970-01-01) ;Phoa, Frederick Kin Hing ;Lai, Hsin-Yi ;Chang, Livia Lin-Hsuan ;Honda, Keisuke統計學研究所It is common sense that some subjects have strong relationships while others are perhaps almost mutually independent, but a quantitative and systematic approach to describe such sense is a deficiency. A technique called pointwise mutual information (PMI) from information science helps to fulfill the request, but the calculation through a large-scale database is computationally infeasible if one requires an instantaneous value. This work provides a two-step remedy via deep learning for estimating and predicting relationships among two subject types that are found in the large-scale citation database called the Web of Science. The resulting model successfully replicates existing PMI values among subject types, and it can be used for predicting PMI values of two subject types if one or both subject types does not exist in the database.Item type:Item, Continuities and changes of media construction of citizenship rights in China: the case of thePeople's Daily, 1978-2012(2020-09-02) ;Liu, Stephanie Na ;Chang, Tsan-Kuo ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesTheoretical discussions about the Chinese citizenship rights suggest four distinctive aspects: rural-urban inequality, state-granted rather than natural born, socioeconomic rights prior to political entitlement, and collectivism overriding individualism. From a longitudinal and comparative perspective, this study examines how the most authoritarian party newspaper - thePeople's Daily- has constructed the idea of citizenship rights and manifested the four characteristics between 1978 and 2012, covering the three administrations of Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, and Hu Jintao. Through content analysis and discourse analysis, we find that the official construction of citizenship rights enduringly employs instrumentalism to maintain the Party's authority. Nevertheless, in each leadership, there exists a dominant political rhetoric that fundamentally shapes the construction and function of citizenship rights: rights were constructed upon the socialist ideology and legal system in Deng's administration; under Jiang, the strong diplomatic strategy prioritized national sovereignty over rights and reinforced rule by law; in Hu's era, socioeconomic rights were emphasized and good governance highlighted. Political goals, the development of legal system and the style of political leadership have contributed to the periodical changes of the construction of citizenship rights.Item type:Item, Post-Pictet-Spengler Cyclization (PPSC): A Strategy to Synthesize Polycyclic beta-Carboline-Derived Natural Products and Biologically Active N-Heterocycles(1970-01-01) ;Singh, Rahul ;Kumar, Sunil ;Patil, Madhuri T. ;Sun, Chung-MingSalunke, Deepak B.Pictet-Spengler reaction is a typical condensation reaction of beta-arylethylamine or Tryptamine with an aldehyde or ketone followed by ring closure to generate tetrahydroisoquinoline (THIQ) and Tetrahydro-beta-carboline (TH beta C), respectively. Both these key skeletons represent huge range of structurally diverse naturally occurring isoquinoline and indole alkaloids. Nature has synthesized structurally complex Reserpine, Ajmalicine as well as other related alkaloids using various biosynthetic pathwaysviaPictet-Spengler reaction followed by post-Pictet-Spengler cyclization (PPSC) stratergy. This biosynthetic process is the short and reliable method to access diverse range of polycyclic heterocycles. Over the period of last sixty years, several researchers have synthesized complex alkaloids without highlighting the synthetic utility of the post-Pictet-Spengler cyclization strategy. We summarized the synthesis of numerous natural products and related natural product inspired heterocyclic scaffolds which follow the PPSC strategy to demonstrate its usefulness for the construction of diverse compound collection. 1.
