This method combines a well-known projected Jacobi method and a new dual projected pseudo-quasi-Newton (DPPQN) method which solves multicommodity flow quadratic subproblems induced in the projected Jacobi method. The DPPQN method is a dual Newton-type method that differs very much from the conventional Lagrangian Newton method; our method fully exploits the structural advantages of network-type linear equality constraints to obtain a constant sparse approximate Hessian matrix with a decoupling structure and includes a novel finite-iteration successive projection and (truncated) seal algorithm to resolve the difficulty caused by coupling capacity constraints. The DPPQN method also consists of two decomposition effects, the commodity decomposition effect and the are decomposition effect, which resolve the potential numerical difficulties caused by large dimensions. We show the convergence of our method including the convergence of the finite-iteration successive projection and (truncated) seal algorithm. Compared with the Frank-Wolfe with PARTAN algorithm in which a price-directive decomposition method is used to solve linearized multicommodity flow problems, our method is dramatically faster in terms of the CPU time on a Sparc-10 workstation at solving numerous nonlinear multicommodity network flow examples. Our results show that the cells appear to survive after 1 Mrad (Si) Co-60 irradiation. Moreover, the after-irradiation cell read current actually increases in the ''erase'' (i.e., low-threshold voltage, high-conducting) state (i.e., improves), albeit the cell read current also increases in the ''program'' (i.e., high-threshold voltage, low-conducting) state (i.e., a degradation). Our results also show that, despite an improvement in the initial read current in the ''erase'' state immediately after radiation, the write/erase cycling endurance of the flash cells is significantly impeded after irradiation, due to a much faster ''window closure'' rate in the ''erase'' state, although the cell read current is found to remain relatively stable in the ''program'' state after cycling.Item type:Item, Low power design for MPEG-2 video decoder(1996-08-01) ;Lin, CH ;Chen, CM ;Jen, CW ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThe I/O power consumption in MPEG-2 decoder is significant because of the wide connection with large capacitances to the frame buffer. To reduce the power dissipation on the Memory Bus, the Gray code encoding scheme is proposed to increase the correlation of the image data transferred on the bus. The bit switching probability in the re-coded data will then decrease and in turn the bus power consumption will be reduced. Combined with the proposed bus arbitration and scheduling scheme proposed in this paper, 22% reduction of power dissipation may be achieved.Item type:Item, Thermally driven polysilicon actuators for lateral displacement(1999-05-01) ;Wu, MF ;Lin, CH ;Hsu, WS ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringA novel one-mask; polysilicon actuator driven by thermal expansion is developed, modeled and tested. The structures are heated by electric current due to resistive dissipation. Thermal strain is magnified by two mechanical mechanisms-lever and parallelogram. The device is tested in air and has a lateral 8 mu m-displacement by applying a low voltage (below 3.5 V). The critical current to reach melting point is about 67 mA with the input voltage less than 5 V. The simulation results by analytical and FEM schemes are compared with experimental data. The maximum output forces is measured with a built-in cantilever beam and is calculated to be about 3.3 mu N.Item type:Item, Identification of material constants of composite laminates using measured strains(2000-10-01) ;Kam, TY ;Lin, CH ;Wang, WT ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringA method for nondestructive evaluation of material constants of composite laminates is presented. An error function is established to measure the differences between the theoretically and experimentally predicted strains. The identification of the the material constants is formulated as a constrained minimization problem in which the material constants are determined to make the error function a global minimum. A global minimization method, together with an appropriate bounding technique for constraining the variations of the material constants, are used to solve the above minimization problem. The applications of the proposed method are demonstrated by means of several examples on the material constants identification of laminated composite cylindrical pressure vessels. A practicable mechanism to resolve contention among numerous stations is to randomly delay the transmission of their control messages. Since shorter contention cycle time increases slot throughput, this study develops three mechanisms, fixed random delay, variable random delay, and optimal random delay, to minimize the contention cycle time. Simulation demonstrates that the optimal random delay effectively minimizes the contention cycle time and approaches the theoretical optimum throughput of 0.18 from pure ALOHA. Furthermore, over-estimation reduces the impact on contention cycle time more than under-estimation through sensitivity analysis, and both phenomenon damage slot throughput. Two estimation schemes, maximum likelihood and average likelihood, are thereby presented to estimate the number of active stations for each contention resolution round. Simulation proofs that the proposed estimation schemes are effective even when the estimated number of active stations in initial contention round is inaccurate.Item type:Item, Evaluation of hot workability of H13 through processing map(1999) ;Wang, SC ;Chou, CP ;Lin, CH ;Chang, CC機械工程學系Item type:Item, O-2-plasma degradation of low-k organic dielectric and its effective solution for damascene trenches(2000) ;Yeh, CF ;Lee, YC ;Su, YC ;Wu, KHLin, CHMethylsilsesquioxane, an organic spin-on dielectric, has attracted much attention as a promising low-k inter-Cu-metal dielectric because of its sufficiently low dielectric constant (<2.8) and excellent thermal stability (>500 degreesC). However, we found that MSQ film would be easily degraded during resist ashing in O-2-plasma ambient after the film is etched with the damascene trenches being created. An innovative sidewall capping technology as an effective solution of this ashing-induced degradation has been successfully developed. This new technology has potential to fulfill the highly reliable damascene process toward Cu/MSQ integration.
