Item type:Item, Hydrogen Bonding-Induced H-Aggregation for Fluorescence Turn-On of the GFP Chromophore: Supramolecular Structural Rigidity(1970-01-01) ;Tsai, Meng-Shiue ;Tsai, Sung-Yu ;Huang, Yi-Fan ;Wang, Chien-LungSun, Shih-ShengTo turn on the fluorescence of the native green fluorescence protein (GFP) chromophore, 4-hydroxybenzylidene-dimethylimidazolinone (HBDI), in an artificial supramolecular system has been a challenging task, because it requires high local environmental rigidity. This work shows that the formation of H-aggregates of an HBDI-containing organogelator results in two orders of magnitude fluorescence enhancement (phi(f)=2.9 vs. 0.02 %), in which the inter-HBDI OH...OH H-bonds play a crucial role. The aggregation-induced fluorescence enhancement of HBDI has important implications on the origin of the high fluorescence quantum efficiency of HBDI in the GFP beta-barrel and on the supramolecular strategy for a full fluorescence recovery of HBDI. These results reveal a new approach to designing rigid chromophore aggregates for high-performance optoelectronic properties.Item type:Item, Cascade One-Pot Synthesis of Orange-Red-Fluorescent Polycyclic Cinnolino[2,3-f]phenanthridin-9-ium Salts by Palladium(II)-Catalyzed C-H Bond Activation of 2-Azobiaryl Compounds and Alkenes(2020-01-07) ;Jayakumar, Jayachandran ;Vedarethinam, Guganchandar ;Hsiao, Huan-Chang ;Sun, Shang-YouChuang, Shih-ChingQuaternary ammonium salts were synthesized in moderate to good yields through double oxidative C-H bond activation on azobenzenes. Enabling the real-time tracing of delivery agents as they move through the body is crucial to the further development of boron neutron capture therapy. In this study, we fabricate fluorescent B-10 embedded nanodiamonds using physical ion implantation in conjunction with a two-step annealing process. Fluorescent B-10 embedded nanodiamonds perform well in cell viability test. The red fluorescence of the B-10 embedded nanodiamonds allows their use in fluorescence microscopy and in vivo imaging systems, thereby making it possible to conduct tracking in real time. The proposed fluorescent B-10 embedded nanodiamonds, combining optical visibility and B-10 transport capability, might be a promising boron delivery agent suitable for a wide range of biomedical applications.Item type:Item, Plate-based biochemical assay using quantum dots as a fluorescent labeling agent(2005-07-22) ;Huang, CP ;Liu, HW ;Tsao, CY ;Yin, LTChiu, SFA biochemical assay based on fluorescence imaging analysis by confocal laser scanning as a detection technique is specified. The method involved a glass plate coated with nitrocellulose (NC), where alpha-human-IgE-biotin at various concentrations was immobilized on an NC plate. Luminescent core-shell CdSe/ZnS QD-SA conjugates were then used as a fluorescent labeling agent to be captured specifically by biotinated alpha-human-IgE immobilized in a micro-array by affinity binding between SA and biotin in a plate-based biochemical assay. A confocal laser scanner was used to detect the fluorescence signals from the alpha-human-IgE-biotin-SA-QD complex. Experimental findings reveal that fluorescence intensity of QD-SA saturated at QD concentrations above 0.4 mg/ml. Moreover, a calibration curve between the fluorescence intensity and the concentration of alpha-human-IgE-biotin is plotted. The range of detectable concentrations of biotinlated alpha-human IgE was found to be between 3.3 and 100 mu g/ml in the a-human-IgE-biotin-SA-QD complex. Therefore, the results were consistent with the binding specificity in a plate-based biochemical assay, as determined using luminescent QDs as a labeling agent. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. (Fred) ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityThe phenomenon of organic electroluminescence (EL) was first discovered from studies on anthracene crystals in the 1960s. Since then, its derivatives have been studied extensively in applications such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic thin-film transistors because of their excellent EL, transport, and good electrochemical properties. A blue fluorescence emitter based on anthracene is also important in constructing hybrid tandem white OLEDs for lighting applications. This article provides a review about the development of blue host OLED materials based on molecules designed and derived from the core structure of anthracene and their application as bipolar charge-carrier transport materials in OLEDs. The recent development of efficient, stable, blue-doped p-i-n OLEDs with simplified device architecture based on the single common host 2-methyl-9,10-di(2-napthyl)anthracene, with its stable thin-film morphology, large band gap energy, high fluorescence quantum yield, and ambipolar charge-carrier transport properties, is also highlighted.Item type:Item, N-Doped Graphene Quantum Dots-Decorated V2O5 Nanosheet for Fluorescence Turn Off-On Detection of Cysteine(2018-01-10) ;Ganganboina, Akhilesh Babu ;Chowdhury, Ankan Dutta ;Doong, Ruey-An ;環境工程研究所Institute of Environmental EngineeringThe development of a fast-response sensing technique for detection of cysteine can provide an analytical platform for prescreening of disease. Herein, we have developed a fluorescence turn off-on fluorescence sensing platform by combining nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) with V2O5 nanosheets for the sensitive and selective detection of cysteine in human serum samples. V2O5 nanosheets with 2-4 layers are successfully synthesized via a simple and scalable liquid exfoliation method and then deposited with 2-8 nm of N-GQDs as the fluorescence turn off-on nanoprobe for effective detection of cysteine in human serum samples. The V2O5 nanosheets serve as both fluorescence quencher and cysteine recognizer in the sensing platform. The fluorescence intensity of N-GQDs with quantum yield of 0.34 can be quenched after attachment onto V2O5 nanosheets. The addition of cysteine triggers the reduction of V2O5 to V4+ as well as the release of N-GQDs within 4 min, resulting in the recovery of fluorescence intensity for the turn off-on detection of cysteine. The sensing platform exhibits a two-stage linear response to cysteine in the concentration range of 0.1-15 and 15-125 mu M at pH 6.5, and the limit of detection is 50 nM. The fluorescence response of N-GQD@V2O5 exhibits high selectivity toward cysteine over other 22 electrolytes and biomolecules. Moreover, this promising platform is successfully applied in detection of cysteine in human serum samples with excellent recovery of (95 +/- 3.8) - (108 +/- 2.4)%. These results clearly demonstrate a newly developed redox reaction-based nanosensing platform using N-GQD@V2O5 nanocomposites as the sensing probe for cysteine-associated disease monitoring and diagnosis in biomedical applications, which can open an avenue for the development of high performance and robust sensing probes to detect organic metabolites.Item type:Item, Highly Sensitive and Selective Detection of Nanomolar Ferric Ions Using Dopamine Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots(2016-08-17) ;Chowdhury, Ankan Dutta ;Doong, Ruey-an ;環境工程研究所Institute of Environmental EngineeringThe good stability, low cytotoxicity, and excellent photoluminescence property of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) make them an emerging class of promising materials in various application fields ranging from sensor to drug delivery. In the present work, the dopamine-functionalized GQDs (DA-GQDs) with stably bright blue fluorescence were successfully synthesized for low level Fe3+-ions detection. The as-synthesized GQDs are uniform in size with narrow-distributed particle size of 4.5 +/- 0.6 nm and high quantum yield of 10.2%. The amide linkage of GQDs with dopamine, confirmed by using XPS and FTIR spectra, results in the specific interaction between Fe3+ and catechol moiety of dopamine at the interfaces for highly sensitive and selective detection of Fe3+. A linear range of 20 nM to 2 mu M with a detection limit of 7.6 nM is obtained for Fe3+ detection by DA-GQDs. The selectivity of DA-GQDs sensing probe is significantly excellent in the presence of other interfering metal ions. In addition, the reaction mechanism for Fe3+ detection based on the complexation and oxidation of dopamine has been proposed and validated. Results obtained in this study clearly demonstrate the superiority of surface functionalized GQDs to Fe3+ detection, which can pave an avenue for the development of high performance and robust sensing probes for detection of metal ions and other organic metabolites in environmental and biomedical applications.Item type:Item, Photoluminescence Determination of Aluminum Using Glutathione-Capped Gold Nanoclusters(2016) ;Baig, Mirza Muhammad Fahad ;Chen, Cheng-Tai ;Chen, Yu-Chie ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryAluminum is a common metal that is used extensively in daily life. However, over-exposure to aluminum may result in nervous systemrelated diseases. Thus, it is important to develop a rapid sensing method that can be used to screen samples. In this study, glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters with bright photoluminescence were demonstrated to be effective sensing probes for aluminum ions. The photoluminescence of glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters was enhanced in the presence of aluminum ions. The results show that glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters selectively determined aluminum ions in samples prepared in aqueous ammonium acetate buffer (pH 5.5). The acetate maintains the pH and serves as a chelating agent to interact with non-analyte metal ions. Therefore, other metal ions have little effect on the photoluminescence of the glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters. The photoluminescence of the glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters was switched on in samples containing aluminum ions. The selective sensing was based on chelation between the aluminum ions and ligands on the surface of the glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters. The limit of detection was estimated to be as low as approximately 100 nM. The method was used to determine the concentration of aluminum ions in lake water and soil extracts.Item type:Item, Anthryl-1,2,4-oxadiazole-Substituted Calix[4]arenes as Highly Selective Fluorescent Chemodosimeters for Fe3+(2015-04-01) ;Chen, Ying-Jung ;Yang, Shun-Chieh ;Tsai, Chia-Chen ;Chang, Kai-ChiChuang, Wen-HanFluorescent chemosensors 1 and 2, with 1,2,4-oxadiazoles as the binding ligands and anthracene as the fluorophore, were synthesized through sequential 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of 25,27-dioxyacetonitrilecalix[4]arenes 8 and 11. The fluorescence of 1 was severely quenched by both Fe3+ and Cu2+, whereas that of 2 was selectively quenched only by Fe3+. Control compound 4 was also selectively quenched by Fe3+, which implied the importance of anthryl-1,2,4-oxadiazole core; furthermore, it was shown to give various oxidation products such as oxanthrone 13, anthraquinone 14, and imidazolyl oxanthrone 15. In addition to product separation and identification, the fluorescent quenching mechanism of these 9-anthryl-1,2,4-oxadiazolyl derivatives by Fe3+ is also discussed. Furthermore, it should be noted that the oxadiazole-substituted anthracene 4 and calix[4]arene 2 are Fe3+-selective fluorescent chemodosimeters without the interference by Cu2+.
