Item type:Item, All-planar dual-mode asymmetric filters at Ka-band(2003-03-01) ;Chen, HC ;Tzuang, CKC ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringAll-planar dual-mode inductive asymmetric filters utilizing new planar microstrip to dielectric-loaded rectangular waveguide transitions at Ka-band were presented and built in this letter. The conventional, three-dimensional metallic rectangular waveguide dual-mode filters can be implemented into mature PCB technology with a much easier and lower-cost fabrication process on the basis of the all-planar feature of the transition. This work demonstrates two Ka-band filter examples with center frequency at 31 GHz and bandwidth at 1 GHz and 2 GHz. The measured minimum insertion loss of each case was, respectively, 2.68 and 1.12 dB, with greater than 10 dB return loss in the passband. Moreover, the measured side-band attenuation (near passband) is larger than 30 dB due to the transmission zeros at each side of the passband.Item type:Item, Dual-Mode Ring Resonator Bandpass Filter With Asymmetric Inductive Coupling and Its Miniaturization(2012-09-01) ;Lin, Tsu-Wei ;Kuo, Jen-Tsai ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesDual-mode ring resonator filters are implemented with asymmetric inductive perturbation for creating transmission zeros on both sides of the passband. In analysis, dependence of the resonance modes and the zeros on positions and sizes of both the inductive and capacitive perturbations is investigated. Under certain conditions, the even- and odd-mode frequencies for a capacitively perturbed ring are the same as the odd and even ones, respectively, for a ring with inductive perturbation. Theoretical background is clearly explained how the two transmission zeros are split up from the center frequency. Two dual-mode ring resonator filters are fabricated and measured for demonstration. To obtain a miniaturized circuit area, the 1-lambda ring trace is folded into a double-ring or spiral configuration. The inductive perturbation is chosen as the crossover and implemented by a short high-impedance coplanar waveguide interconnection in the ground plane of the microstrip. Measurement results show good agreement with the simulation responses.Item type:Item, Dual-mode millimeter-wave folded microstrip reflectarray antenna(2008-06-01) ;Tarn, I-Young ;Wang, Yu-Shin ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringA dual-mode folded microstrip reflectarray antenna was developed and demonstrated in this paper. The proposed folded reflectarray antenna contains three parts: a planar main reflector, a planar subreflector, and printed feed antennas. The main reflector is used to produce twisted reradiated fields and to provide phase compensation for focusing. The subreflector parallel with the main reflector is made of a substrate printed with high-density metal grid lines, which is transparent to perpendicularly polarized fields, but would reflect the parallel ones. Three fixed-position patch antennas with polarization parallel to the grid lines are created for the radar mode, so that the radiation beam is switchable. Another patch with perpendicular polarization is designed for communication. A simple approach was proposed for simulating and designing the folded reflectarray. Measured results show good agreement with the calculated ones.Item type:Item, New Miniaturized Dual-Mode Dual-Band Ring Resonator Bandpass Filter With Microwave C-Sections(2010-02-01) ;Chiou, Yi-Chyun ;Wu, Cho-Yu ;Kuo, Jen-Tsai ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesA new miniaturized dual-mode dual-band ring resonator bandpass filter is implemented by a cascade of several microwave C-sections. Each C-section is used to substitute a transmission line section of designated electrical length. Through proper design of input/output coupling configuration, two transmission zeros can be created on both sides of each passband. Two circuits with four and six microwave C-sections are fabricated for confirmation. They occupy less than 30% of the area of a traditional ring resonator filter. Measured responses agree very well with the simulation.
