Item type:Item, Synthesis of t-butylated diphenylanthracene derivatives as blue host materials for OLED applications(2003-07-21) ;Balaganesan, B ;Shen, WJ ;Chen, CH ;應用化學系資訊工程學系This paper describes the cost-effective synthesis and the photoluminescence of diphenylanthracene derivatives, which are found to be potential blue host materials for organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology. Adm-TPD and Adm-NPD, which contain a spiro(adamantane-2,9-fluorene) core, have been synthesized and characterized. We believe that because of the presence of the rigid spiro-fluorene core, these triaryldiamines exhibit higher glass transition temperatures and have a less tendency to crystallize relative to their biphenyl analogs. Additionally, electrochemical studies showed that the planarity of the fluorene core leads to lower ionization potentials and greater degrees of pi conjugation between the two amino groups. AFM measurements demonstrated that high-quality amorphous films of Adm-NPD with good morphological stability were prepared by vapor deposition. Electroluminescent devices using Adm-NPD as a hole-transporting layer-i.e., having the configuration ITO/Adm-NPD/Alq(3)/LiF/Al-emit a bright green light that is characteristic of Alq(3). The architecture of the device used in the experiment is Indium-Tin-Oxid (ITO)/CuPc/NPB/C545T:Alq(3)/Alq(3)/Mg:Alq(3)/WO3/NPB/C545T:Alq(3)/Alq(3)/LiF/Al. We found the efficiency of the two-unit devices can be controllable by the thickness Of WO3. The two-unit devices with 1-nm-thick WO3 produces the luminance efficiency of 49.2 cd/A at 20 mA/cm(2), which is around four times that of the controlled single-unit device (ITO/CuPc/NPB/C545T:Alq(3)/Alq(3)/LiF/Al). Compared with reported research data, the "amplification effect" discovered in our device is a rather unexpected result. The external quantum efficiency of 12.6%, with near-saturated Commission Internationale d'Eclairage coordinates (CIEx = 0.27, CIEy = 0.68), is one of the best ever reported for a fluorescent dye-doped OLED. We also demonstrate that the electron injection layer of Mg:Alq(3) is a necessary component for the enhancement of EL efficiency. These results may prove to be an effective method to enhance the efficiency as well as the lifetime of current OLEDs.Item type:Item, Development of highly stable organic electroluminescent devices with a doped co-host emitter system(2005-03-01) ;Liu, TH ;Iou, CY ;Chen, CH ;光電工程學系友訊交大聯合研發中心Efficient red organic light-emitting devices based on the fluorescent dye "4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-t-butyl-6-(1,1,7,7-tetra-methyljulolidyl-9-enyl)-4H-pyran (DCJTB) doped in co-host emitter (CHE) systems of rubrene/tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum (Alq(3)) [60/40] and of 9, 1 0-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene (ADN)/Alq(3) [60/40] which achieved a luminance efficiency of 4.2-5.5 cd/A at 20 mA/cm(2) with Commission Internationale d'Eclairage coordinates of [0.64,0.35]-[0.62,0.37]. At high rubrene or ADN concentration (>60%), this DCJTB doped CHE system has the advantage of alleviating the current-induced fluorescence quenching problem often encountered in red organic electroluminescence (EL) devices and greatly improves the EL efficiency over a wide range of drive current conditions. The increased device efficiency is attributed to an improved balance between hole and electron currents in the recombination zone.
