Item type:Item, 16-GHz mHEMT Double-Quadrature Gilbert Down-Conversion Mixer With Polyphase Filters(2013) ;Hsiao, Yu-Chih ;Meng, Chinchun ;Su, Jen-Yi ;Yu, Sheng-WenHuang, Guo-WeiA 16-GHz double-quadrature very low IF down conversion mixer with polyphase filters is demonstrated using 0.15-nm metamorphic high electron mobility transistor (mHEMT) technology. Due to the hgih cut-off frequency of mHEMT device, the image rejection Gilbert mixer works at 16 GHz. The polyphase filters are employed to generate differential quadrature signals and eliminate the image signal at RF/LO stages and IF stage, respectively, in the double quarture configuration. When RF and LO frequencies are designed around 16 GHz and an IF frequency is 32 MHz, The double-quadrature Gilbert down-converter has 32-dB image rejection ratio, 1.7-dB conversion gain, -5-dBm IP1dB, and 5-dBm IIP3. The die size is 3.0 mm x 3.2 mm.Item type:Item, A high 2LO-RF isolation SiGeBiCMOS sub-harmonic Gilbert mixer using stacked-LO-stage topology(2006) ;Wu, Tzung-Han ;Meng, Chinchun ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringA 5.2 GHz SiGe BiCMOS stacked-LO-stage CMFB (Common Mode Feedback) sub-harmonic mixer is demonstrated in this letter. The stacked-LO-stage and the active loads are used to improve the 2LO-RF isolation and the conversion gain, respectively. The SiGe mixer includes five levels of transistors stacked together at the supply voltage of 3.3 V because of the low knee-voltage characteristic of the SiGe HBTs (Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors). The mixer demonstrated achieves 23 dB conversion gain and -78 dB 2LO-RF isolation.Item type:Item, A 5.7 GHz Gilbert upconversion mixer with an LC current combiner output using 0.35 mu m SiGe HBT technology(2005-06-01) ;Wu, TH ;Meng, CC ;Wu, TH ;Huang, GW電信工程研究所This paper demonstrates a small compact 5.7 GHz upconversion Gilbert micromixer using 0.35 mu m SiGe HBT technology. A micromixer has a broadband matched single-ended input port. A passive LC current combiner is used to convert micromixer differential output into a single-ended output and doubles the output current for single-ended-input and single-ended-output applications. Thus, a truly balanced operation of a Gilbert upconversion mixer with a single-ended input and a single-ended output is achieved in this paper. The fully matched upconversion micromixer has conversion gain of -4 dB, OP(1 dB) of -9 dBm and OIP(3) of 4 dBm when input IF=0.3 GHz. LO=5.4 GHz and output RF=5.7 GHz. The IF input return loss is better than IS dB for frequencies up to 20 GHz while RF output return loss is 25 dB at 5.7 GHz. The supply voltage is 3.3 V and the current consumption is 4.6 mA. The die size is 0.9 X 0.9 mm(2) with 3 integrated on-chip inductors.Item type:Item, Inductorless broadband RF front-end using 2 um GaInP/GaAs HBT technology(2007) ;Wu, Tzung-Han ;Meng, Chinchun ;Huang, Guo-Wei ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringA GaInP/GaAs HBT broadband RF front-end consisting of a low noise wideband amplifier and a micromixer is demonstrated in this paper. The major advantage of this work is the elimination of inductors and thus the chip area can be greatly saved. The bandwidth of the RF front-end is up to 7 GHz. The measured conversion gain is higher than 25 dB from 1 GHz to 7 GHz and the noise figure of the RF front-end is less than 8 dB within the bandwidth.Item type:Item, 10-GHz SiGeBiCMOS sub-harmonic Gilbert mixer using the fully symmetrical and time-delay compensated LO cells(2007-02-01) ;Wu, Tzung-Han ;Meng, Chinchun ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringA 10-GHz sub-harmonic Gilbert mixer is demonstrated in this paper using the 0.35 mu m SiGe BiCMOS technology. The time-delay when the sub-harmonic LO (Local Oscillator) stage generates subharmonic LO signals is compensated by using fully symmetrical multiplier pairs. High RF-to-IF isolation and sub-harmonic LO Gilbert cell with excellent frequency response can be achieved by the elimination of the time-delay. The SiGe BiCMOS sub-harmonic micromixer exhibits 17 dB conversion gain, -74 dB 2LO-to-RF isolation, IP1dB of -20 dBm, and IIP3 Of -10 dBm. The measured double sideband noise figure is 16 dB from 100-kHz to 100-MHz because the SiGe bipolar device has very low 1/f noise corner.Item type:Item, A 5.2 GHz 47 dB image rejection double quadrature Gilbert downconverter using 0.35 mu m SiGe HBT technology(2007-02-01) ;Wu, Tzung-Han ;Meng, Chinchun ;Wu, Tse-Hung ;Huang, Guo-Wei電信工程研究所A 5.2 GHz 1 dB conversion gain, IP(1dB) = - 19 dBm and IIP(3)= -9dBm double quadrature Gilbert downconversion mixer with polyphase filters is demonstrated by using 0.35 mu m SiGe HBT technology. The image rejection ratio is better than 47 dB when LO=5.17 GHz and IF is in the range of 15 MHz to 45 MHz. The Gilbert downconverter has four-stage RC-CR IF polyphase filters for the image rejection. Polyphase filters are also used to generate LO and RF quadrature signals around 5 GHz in the double quadrature downconverter.Item type:Item, 4-GHz inter-stage-matched SiGe HBT LNA with gain enhancement and no noise figure degradation(2007-02-01) ;Meng, Chinchun ;Jhong, Jhin-Ci ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringAn effective way to boost power gain without noise figure degradation in a cascode low noise amplifier (LNA) is demonstrated at 4 GHz using 0.35 mu m SiGe HBT technology. This approach maintains the same current consumption because a low-pass pi-type LC matching network is inserted in the inter-stage of a conventional cascode LNA. 5 dB gain enhancement with no noise figure degradation at 4 GHz is observed in the SiGe HBT LNA with inter-stage matching.Item type:Item, A New Sub-harmonic Mixer Using Switched Gm Technique For 802.11a/b/g Dual-Band Receivers(2007) ;Chang, Win-Ming ;Wu, Hui-I ;Jou, Christina F. ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringA new prototype of sub-harmonic mixer using switched Gm technique is designed and implemented in a standard 0.18um CMOS technology. By using the PMOS active load and a switched Gm prototype at LO port, the new sub-harmonic mixer can achieve high conversion power gain and still maintain high linearity, and we can alleviate the shortage of the voltage headroom at IF output. In addition, it consumes no DC power while there is no LO input. At 5.2-GHz ISM band, this fully integrated sub-harmonic mixer achieves measured high conversion power gain of 12.8dB, -1.8dBm input third order intercept point (IIP3), and 14.0dB noise figure at 10-MHz with 4dBm LO power.
