Risk-taking in investment decision-making is a major means to create individual wealth. Investors search information for risk-reducing strategies in risky investment decision-making. Digital information on financial measures and advice-seeking information are two usual means in information searching. This study extends the information search aspects.to discuss heuristics reliance to enrich our understanding of individual risk-taking in investment choices. A test for differences based on income is also conducted. In addition, this article discusses two forms of risky investments, stocks/options investments as well as mutual funds investments. We test our model with a sample of experienced investors by self-reported measurement. The findings thus expect to show that information searches and income have dramatic effects on investment preference variation. Accordingly, implications for financial consultants and ethics issues are discussed as well.

This study examines the effect of trust as a moderating variable to Internet shopper's Web purchase decisions in terms of extrinsic motivation, information search and online purchase intention. Drawing from research in electronic marketing with a focus on the flow mechanism, the authors suggest that information search motive and trust enhance the probability of consumer purchasing on the Web. Based on a sample of 2700 Internet users in Asia, this study explores their motives and concerns to engage in online information search and how the trust moderates the relationship between online information search and online purchase intention. The results indicate that brand comparison from information search serves as an important indicator for online shopping. Those with higher level of trust toward online shopping have higher intention to purchase online. The managerial implications of these findings are also discussed.

As more and more procurement websites become available on the Internet, seeking information from websites has become an essential part of a contractor's procurement undertaking. Several e-markets, specifically for construction, have also been established, including bLiquid.com and ProcureZone. However, most websites provide only two primary ways of searching for information, namely by index/menu or by keyword. Instead of relying on the primitive search engines found in most procurement websites, a search guide system could help a user's keyword search by reducing the number of keywords required to find the desired information. Our research recognized that professional procurement experience helped users more effectively carry out website information searches, by using fewer keywords. We planned to capture such experience in order to guide inexperienced users in their search. The research goal was to improve search effectiveness by guiding the user's search using three approaches, namely correction, specification and extension. Based on these three approaches, this research applied the following guides: correction; specification-by-equivalence; specification-by-detail; extension-by-time; extension-by-location; extension-by-team; and extension-by-component. The paper will describe how we classified users for learning credibility, and the learning framework for recording expert users' search patterns. Twelve professionals, using 14 procurement packages, with 64 items in total, evaluated the proposed framework. It will be demonstrated that the proposed learning keyword guide facilitated a dynamic, customized menu and indexing system, and reduced the number of keywords required for the professionals to find the information they desired.

Purchasing risky investments can be a means to maximize individual wealth; but when faced with uncertainty about the investment outcome, individuals search for information on risk-reducing strategies. Most studies focus on digital information and advice-seeking information. This study extends the investigation of information search to discuss heuristics reliance, a simplified information search method. We also examine the effect of risk aversion on our extended information search model. The findings show that, individuals with more risk aversion tend to seek more information. More advice-seeking information search and heuristics reliance through a mass of digital information can increase investor's interest in mutual fund investments. The results demonstrate the value of enhancing the sophistication and accuracy of the information that a counselor provides, especially for investors who are risk averse. This study also has an implication for ethical issues.
